La Fructuosa, Gaucin, Andalucia, Spain - Explore & Book

"There's something magical about La Fructuosa, a 19th-century inn hugging the slopes of a tiny mountain village. The views really take your breath away. After falling under Gaucin's spell during a visit to the Art Gaucin festival, owners Catherine and Daniel (she is a sculptor and ceramicist, he ran a B&B) moved from Brussels to start a new life here. You can expect a warm multilingual welcome, cheery paintings and sculptures on the walls, a convivial atmosphere, and great food in the old wine cellar. Upstairs, six cheerful and unique bedrooms make a restorative base for overnight guests, and up again, a roof terrace gazes over the mountains towards the distant coast. By day, this area is ideal for relaxing, walking in the mountains and exploring Andalucia's iconic pueblos blancos (white hilltop towns). Highs Its location: perched in a pretty mountain village with views out to Gibraltar and beyond A window into traditional village life: the restaurant is a firm favourite with locals as well as weary travellers The shared roof terrace with fabulous views to the coast, where you can happily while away the hours with a bottle of red Original chestnut beams and wine press add an authentic sense of history It's brilliant value for money Lows The restaurant has changed hands since we last visited and is now run independently, but the new chef is Michelin starred so standards are unlikely to slip! Staff are only on site for part of the day, so it’s best suited to more independent travellers There's no swimming pool or garden, but there is a large shared roof terrace Driving in Gaucin is pretty hairy, with steep and narrow one-way streets. You'll need to park a few hundred metres from the hotel and walk down" - Nikki Tinto

I absolutely loved my stay at La Fructuosa. It’s such a charming hotel… each room of a unique and vintage design… right in the center of one of Andalusia’s white villages in the mountains. This is the place to stay! What makes Gaucín especially unique is the funky blend of authentic locals and international artists who now call it home. And the restaurant! Really top-rate cuisine and service that seduces you. The only competition La Fructuosa has in Gaucín is this temptation I now have to buy a home there. It’s that seductive!

What a gem of a place. We booked not knowing what to expect and we’re pleasantly surprised. ||The food was of the highest quality (although the salmon a little too cooked for our liking - but that is our only observation). The service friendly and efficient with a menu that combines local with a well balanced offer to all tastes.||We were 5 plus dog and all enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Definitely should be a restaurant to return.

We went to the La Fructuosa restaurant and had an excellent dinner. The staff was very attentive and had no problem with dealing with a full house. All the starters, mains and deserts were absolutely delicious and the surroundings add to the cosy atmosphere on the little terrace. Would definitely recommend.

This hotel is a comfortable oasis in the wonderful village of Gaucin. It has a long history of accommodating guests and under these new owners has been upgraded to include good wifi and a wonderful restaurant on the main level. The room was beautifully decorated and looked out over the mountain range and towards the rest of Gaucin. Breakfast buffet each morning was delicious with freshly baked croissants and a host of other offerings. The staff was very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Looking for a more genuin stay in a hotel with an atmosphere and don't mind the steps, stay at least two nights in the charming La Fructuosa hotel. Relax, enjoy the terrace with views of valleys, hills, mountains as the sun is setting. Enjoy the tranquility of the village and do eat in the restaurant set in a room with an old wine press. Very friendly and welcoming staff!

We have just had the most wonderful Christmas lunch. Six amazing courses at a very reasonable price. We also made new friends with the couple sat next to our table. Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic food, great service at a very acceptable price for what we enjoyed. We've already booked for Christmas Day next year.

Yelp
Was staying nearby and came here for dinner with my Wife one night. The views are fantastic from here. The service is fantastic, very friendly. I had langoustines for starter followed by Hake. I realized after buying the Hake I am not s huge fan but it was cooked very nicely and served with asparagus. We didn't have a desert. Over all the evening was very pleasant and the food great. If not maybe a little too traditional for our palate.
