This is my second time staying at La Fuente. My first time was a 5-star experience but sadly, this time it's only 4. I booked a deluxe king suite (room 132) for my boyfriend's birthday and upon entering the room, it was nicely appointed with modern-looking furniture, painted accent walls, two TVs, two modern ceiling fans, and a wet bar complete with a sink, microwave, 4 cup coffee maker, and mini fridge. Upon checking in, I went through the room and wiped it down with disinfectant wipes, something I have been doing since COVID became a thing. I was shocked at how dusty the room was and how there were some stains on the wall likely from people's hair product. The bathroom lights had about an inch of dust on them and look like they hadn't been dusted in months. Before I go on, I want to add that I had COVID in early January 2022 and it caused some lung issues for me so dust is a big no-no right now as it triggers my asthma.
There was also some damage in the room and I didn't understand why it wasn't fixed. The laminate on the bathroom vanity door was ripped and sticking up. Not sure why this wasn't glued down. Also, one of the throw pillows on the couch was ripped and there were dimples and gouges in the walls and front door. The pocket door in the bathroom leading to the bedroom also had damage and didn't line up correctly so locking it was challenging. The room needed some TLC and a fresh coat of paint. Also, when opening the vanity, the inside was filthy and someone left some laxative drops behind, which was missed by the cleaning staff, probably because they haven't cleaned inside the vanity for months.
Aside from all that and once I cleaned the room, it was a very nice stay and like I said, the room had some very nice furnishings and whatnot including plantation shudders, comfy bed (except the pillows were a bit small and flat), a large dresser, and shelves in the living room.
The property was also nice, though one of the gates was broken and didn't auto close. The pool area was beautiful with cabanas, fountains, and plenty of plants and trees.
The surrounding area is decent with tons of restaurants and shopping. There's a trashy Motel 6 on one side of La Fuente and a Days Inn on the other side. That makes La Fuente an oasis of the area.
The staff was super friendly and the breakfast was decent despite it being the typical hotel carb fest. I was sad to hear that the happy hour they do is only Monday-Thursday now as last time we arrived on a Friday and they were doing it. We arrived on a Saturday so no happy hour for us. Still, they have coffee, tea, and popcorn available throughout the day after breakfast, which is nice.
An ice machine and vending machine is on the property, not sure if there's one on each floor but having an ice machine is super convenient as we visited Kofa and needed ice for our cooler. Snacks are available for purchase at the front desk and they also have an outgoing mailbox in case you need to mail something. Lemon water is also available at the front desk.
I hope La Fuente will give their rooms some TLC and repair damaged items. Their website says the deluxe rooms were recently renovated but it looks like those renovations may have happened years ago.
