It was very busy on Thursday I visited. Too crowded to enjoy my food but I guess that’s how French restaurants are. Anyway, food was great. We ordered a course menu which came with 2 plates; appetizers and entree. I picked flies shrimp 🍤 was just okay but Escargot was not really good. It’s not fresh and smelly. I had escargot before but nothing like this. For entree, we ordered fish and lamp. They were really good I would recommend these two. Very tasty with a good portion. So spent total €120 for 2 meal course + a bottle of water + a bottle of white wine. It’s not bad at all. I would return but not for escargot.

La Gauloise is a really lovely spot in Paris. The atmosphere is classy but not pretentious—just a warm, elegant place to enjoy a good meal. I had the steak, which was cooked just right and super tasty, and the chocolate mousse for dessert was rich and smooth—definitely a highlight. The waiter was very decent and polite, and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was just as good. I’d definitely recommend it if you're looking for a quality meal in a beautiful setting. Would gladly come back

The French onion soup was full of onion but no enough soup base and the cheese on top wasn’t melted. The roasted duck leg skin was very crispy but the meat is a little bit over cooked and the seasoning was too salty for me. It good to pair with red wine with the strong favour main dish. The service was good and the staffs are very professional.

Nice "traditional" french restaurant. Great and pleasant decor. Good mix of locals and tourists. Our food was good but felt like both starters (onion soup) and mains (duck) could be a bit warmer. Great selection of wines and good recommendations to accompany the food. Was not impressed with the "kids menu" dish that we picked (chicken and mash) as chicken was deep fried and the crust was too hard for a 4 year old. She still ate a bit but not as much as she usually would. Ice-cream was great for her in the end. Overall nice experience.

All personnel are so welcoming. Bit unusual for a French restaurant but everyone speaks at least 2 foreign languages. The outdoor terrace is so good for having company of up to 6 people. The atmosphere is warm and nice. Had an onion soup and a coffee frappe enjoyed it to the max and the taste was so on point.Chefs kiss I come here every time i visit Paris,it is just 10 min walk from Eifel tower

My new favorite Parisian resto! The ambiance is classic French. The excellent food relied on emphasizing natural flavors rather than pretentious combinations. A highlight was the friendly and professional service. Our servers were especially conscientious that I had a newborn baby and did not frown on me bringing her with us. Our server even reheated my steak and replaced my fries when I had to leave to nurse, commenting that “It is not easy to be a mom”. We’ll be back!

Highly avoid!!! Don’t understand the high rating for this restaurant. The food was so bland and tasteless with such a high price. It’s not worth the price. The spoon that did not get washed. There are so many better choices in Paris.

Yelp
This is the true French food I was looking for. Food and staff were both excellent. Went back after our first visit since it was all so good

Yelp
On the way to Eiffel Tower, we decided to find a restaurant off the beaten path of the typical tourists to find genuine French cuisine that is not priced accordingly to tourists. La Gauloise is within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower. We were attracted to the restaurant due to its authentic French offerings and stylish interior that makes it feel like you have taken a time machine a couple hundred years back to a French Bistro. I ordered the escargot and coq au vin. Both the dishes that I ordered were very good and priced moderately (reasonable in my opinion). The service was great, our coats were taken upon entering, English menus supplied to us, and a waiter willing to inform us on dishes we have never heard of before. Such welcomeness made us want to try everything on the menu! Great food, I loved dining here. - Ansel Ponce Diama

Yelp
This restaurant was chosen by a local colleague for a business dinner. I had briefly checked the Yelp reviews on our way to the restaurant and I was concerned with the low ratings. If it were me, I wouldn't haven taken a chance for a group based on the reviews, but it was an outstanding meal! 5 courses and each one was better than the last. Service was top-notch and the wine choices were spot-on! Couldn't have asked for a better dinner or dining experience for a business dinner with international colleagues from 5 different countries.

Yelp
Had an amazing 5 course meal here for 75 euro per person plus wine. They started with an amuse bouche that was a fun take on smoked salmon. This was followed by foie gras with caramelized onions which was very tasty and sweet. The main courses we chose were the chicken with some kind of salted pork over fermented cabbage, and a nice this steak. Both entrees were cooked perfectly. We then had a cheese course that was too much for us as we were already stuffed to the gills. Then came desert which included a super tall souffle that they open for you and pour in Gran Marnier and they leave the bottle if you want to put more in, and a sort of chocolate lava cake thing that was not as impressive but was served with salted caramel ice cream which was very good. Then they even give you little madeleines at the end. Not that you have room to eat them. I would have given this meal 5 stars but they let some guy in a suit come by and offer 3 small flowers to my dining companion, I thought mabe this was part of the dining experience, it was not, as he then had the gall to ask for 10! Euros...10! We were inside a nice restaurant, why was this happening? I asked him to répétez s'il vous plaît, as I couldn't believe the price, and then gave us a mean mug look when we handed them back and refused. It left a bit of a sour taste in what was otherwise a perfect meal.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant close to my Hotel during my stay in Paris. We arrived at around 7pm and there were only 2 or 3 other table besides us. The decor is very traditional and classy with dark hard wood as the main theme. Our server spoke excellent english and was very nice and efficient. They offer a 28 euro 3 course dinner or 24 euro 2 course dinner which is a great deal! I saw some locals and tourists dining there that night however the restaurant never filled up. I got this roast chicken dish with potatoes and carrots and my husband got the pork belly. Both were very delicious, my chicken was very simple but yet very flavorful and moist. One critique would be that both my dish and my husband's dish although different protein, were prepared the exact same way with same sauce and sides. Overall this is a good and simple restaurant with a lot of parisien charm. I would recommend if you are staying at a hotel around the area.

Yelp
Yum! Came here with my sister after arriving in Paris late night (on holiday). It was one of the first restaurants we stumbled upon, after checking into our hotel, that was still open for dinner (it was almost 10pm). We shared between us a mesclun salad, travers de porc avec un sauce aigne douce - a French version of bbq ribs (but much fancier and more delicious), mashed potatoes, a salmon dish, and creme brulee. The food was all really amazing and our waiter was friendly. He didn't speak much English though so I had to rely on my high school French to get us through the evening.

Yelp
Traditional interior and traditional typical franchise food welcome us. Favorite place of many politicians in old days is still a diplomatic place, maybe because it is close to UNESCO. Very good restaurant for those who do not like to go to those serving current fusion French food excessively inspired by Japanese food.

Yelp
Overall 3.65 stars. Service: 4 stars - it was not packed and we received courteous recommendations and a quick check out. English/American friendly. Ambiance: 3.5 stars - Near a fairly noisy road and rail line. The outdoor and indoor scenery is very nice. This place had a mature crowd and stayed open for us until 11:30pm. While other places played music, La Gauloise was quiet letting my wife and I enjoy conversation with each other and the people around us. Food: 3.5 stars - Fas Gras, lamb shoulder in an iron pot, roasted beef, and vanilla soufflé. The main course was good (not great) however the soufflé was incredible. Fluffy, light, and crisp with the fired sugars...mmmmm!

Yelp
Quiet, romantic setting with a very traditional French feel. Delicious meal - Steak Tartare and Coq Au Vin - and a good selection of wine to go with it.

Yelp
We expected something a little better for a 150$ dinner. We had a feeling when we got there that it was not for us just by looking at the menu. Everything was a little interesting and not our taste. We had to ask for water. This stood out to me because we have been on vacation for almost two weeks and every single place we've been they've given us water... Except here. Then we finally ordered the penne, French onion soup, sea bass and chicken fricasee and they came out with the tiniest portions. For like 25$ entrees you would think you'd get more then like 20 pieces of pasta not to mention it didn't seem very fresh. The chicken was dry and fish was tiny. The only thing that was good was the French onion soup. That and the atmosphere is the only reason I didn't rate it one star.

Yelp
Short story: food made us sick, tasted average, above average prices, below average service. Longer story: on a recommendation from the front desk of our hotel (Tourisme Hotel - recommended), we came here for dinner on one of our four nights in Paris. Although it was a bit early by Parisian standards (it was 7:30pm), we should have thought more of the fact that this restaurant was completely empty. We walked in and decided to sit outside, but quickly changed our mind when we smelled all of the cigarette smoke from the cafe next door. When we asked to move inside, the waiter was visibly annoyed, and continued to be annoyed the rest of the time. In general we found Paris restaurants to have very nice employees, but not here. The food was alright, with the French Onion soup being particularly mediocre. I had a lamb dish that was equally non-noteworthy. It should be noted that I felt absolutely sick after dinner. Even the cost was much too high, even by Paris standards. Avoid this place.

Yelp
I ate here nine years ago and decided to return this trip. Very disappointed. Service and food has declined. The onion soup was really awful..onion water more like it with practically raw onions and clear broth. Service was almost indignant. Our first clue should have been the fact that every bistro on the street was packed and this one was empty. Quell domage!

Yelp
Wow#%#, what a waste of money we found this place to be. If you look at my other European reviews I am normally pretty positive so sorry to break my string of fine eats in France. As Eugene says in his past review the food made them sick. One of the 4 at our table was just appalled at the fish she was served. Tasted bad. Smelled pretty bad. And it was on the price Fix menu which should be only stuff that was fresh. And she said she did not want anything else, her stomach was troubling her. The waiter continued to kind of push her to get something else so she ended up giving in and just getting a plate of veggies which she ate a little bit. They also said they were "giving" her a desert. She had ordered rice pudding and that is what she got. and it was underdone. 2 of the folks at our table got that and both left it after 1 bite. My dinner was edible. Aged duck(canard) but really dry. The sauce was great but only enough sauce for about 1/4th of my plate. It was a shame we had a language barrier but still the waiter handled it badly. We got charged for all of it, even the free desert. We did not fight and left after paying but left. Paris is a city for great food and slower service than Americans are used to but this place took twice as long as other great places. I would avoid when so many other options are close by. Only really bad meal during my 2 weeks in France.

Yelp
One night in Paris and completely ruined my dinner experience. The menu has very few options, and the things me and my partner tried were all horrible. Very pricy and not worth the money whatsoever.

Yelp
Food good but a rip off because it was the most expensive restaurant bistro we have dined at in a week. The service included taking order and delivering meal. Nothing more. Limited wine list. The fish had bones and had at least 2 ounces of meat for 39 euros. How disappointing.

Yelp
Loved it here!!! We were looking for a good restaurant near our hotel for a late dinner and this's place was recommended by the hotel staff. Service was terrific and the food was outstanding . We both had the cod dish and it was prepared perfectly. All the waiters were friendly and attentive . Locals and visitors all seemed very well cared for and pleased to dine here. We stayed until they closed and it was a perfect end to a great day. So far this is our favorite restaurant find in Paris.
