La Gaviota Tropical

Great location and staff! this boutique hotel has five rooms with an elevator. A pool is located on the top floor. The rooms include a breakfast at Roberto‘s restaurant, which is on site and has great food! Great location for a sunset! we have eaten at Roberto‘s several times during our visits to Costa Rica and have never been disappointed. This is our first time to stay at the hotel and we continue to be impressed. We stayed in the LaPlaya room on this visit and I have attached a few pictures.

My family of 4 stayed here in late June and had a wonderful experience. We had a car but never wanted to leave. Our kids snorkeled and swam at the beach just outside and we had delicious full breakfasts (included) every day at the restaurant. The rooftop pool was never crowded and had amazing views. Highly recommend!

So happy we chose to stay at La Gaviota Tropical for our 5 night stay in Playa Hermosa. Luis especially made every evening easy and absolutely delightful - always taking care of us like we were family. Our room, Sol y Mar, was perfect for what we needed - AC worked phenomenally, bed was firm yet so comfortable, and just beautifully designed overall (props to Ted)! Roberto’s has the best food on Playa Hermosa by far, and Pescado Loco - which is right across the street from the entrance - had fish/shrimp tacos that were so good I couldn’t stop talking about them for days. 11/10 would recommend for anyone looking for something approachable, yet off the beaten path.

We just returned from our 5 day stay at La Gaviota and can't say enough great things about our stay. The location is perfect, only a half hour drive from the Liberia airport and right on the beach. The rooms are nice and comfortable but spend the extra money and stay in the room that overlooks the beach, it is worth it. All of the staff are great, very professional and friendly. We will definitely stay there again if we return.

Excellent boutique hotel! Great service, great beach, and restaurant is fantastic! Don’t hesitate to book here!||Quick <30 minute drive from Liberia airport. Welcome drink upon arrival was greatly appreciated after a day of travel. Breakfast included. I had breakfast 2x, lunch 1x and dinner 1x. All was very good. I snapped a photo of the stuffed lobster and shrimp a neighboring diner ordered. Can be as basic or fancy as you like. Waiters are very attentive and speak English well.||Rooms are large and comfortable. I stayed in Bosque Vilioso (I misspelled this I’m sure!) - The Rainforest Room - and it was exactly what the online photos show. Everything you need is present in the room. Shampo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion. A large supply of nice towels, including face/wash cloths. Extra pillows, two lightweight robes, etc. ceiling fans and nice A/C unit. Plenty of HOT water.||Area is nice and quiet. I went to Platas Del Coco for lunch, a little shopping and a snorkeling tour. It was fun, but glad I was staying further away from the “action” as I prefer nature to most people. You can rent a car or Uber here easily to get around.||I had the distinct pleasure of meeting the owners of the property. I had two delightful conversations with Bette and can’t wait to return someday!

We stayed at La Gaviota Tropical for the last week of our honeymoon in Costa Rica and we loved it. The staff members were kind, courteous, and attentive and housekeeping did a great job every day. The rooftop infinity pool was beautiful and obviously the proximity to Playa Hermosa was unbeatable. We would definitely return!

I loved that place. It was in the middle of Playa Hermosa, and I could not ask for a better location. The pool was basically just for us, as there were limited rooms. You feel that you have a private pool with a beautiful sunset view. |The restaurant has wonderful food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. |I recommend taking a boat from there to snorkel, you will not be disappointed. The water was very clear and calm. I will go again for 100%.

We enjoyed our stay immensely at La Gaviota! The pájaro room is huge, the views are great, the food is AMAZING. The best food in Playa Hermosa by far. Everyone working here was so kind and helpful. They arranged a boat excursion for us, they even washed our laundry (for a third of the price our resort in La Fortuna was going to charge), and everyone was so attentive. We loved the Tuna Tartar, the breakfasts, the fish in general, and all of the drinks. As we were leaving the internet was down and a few days later when it came back up, they kept in contact to ensure our final bill was paid. I did not feel unsafe leaving our card info with them. We are coming back 10000%!!
