I was told to come here by a friend. Was so disappointed. The venue looked fabulous and we took advantage of the lunch three course special - The portions were big but food just revolting. Just carb on carb with no flavour or herbs. We didn’t eat most of our food. Just left feeling fat and unhappy

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The food was among the best we’ve had in Madrid. Great location and a wonderful atmosphere.

The quality of the service is excellent and very polite. The quality of the food and its value for money are very high; I highly recommend the ARROZ NEGRO DE PALA & LOMO BACALAO GRATIN, which has a very unique taste and is one of the most delicious dishes I have ever had. The decor of the restaurant also has a very romantic atmosphere, making it suitable for families, friends, or couples. If I have the chance to return to Madrid, I will definitely come back.

We ordered the Arroz Negro de Pala and Lomo Bacalao Gratin — both dishes were absolutely delicious! The textures were perfect, and the flavours were rich and satisfying. The service was also great. Honestly can’t believe the prices are so reasonable for such high-quality food!

We received such great service from Nora. All the staff were very polite. I even asked if I could charge my phone during lunchtime, and despite the busy hour, everyone remained so courteous. The food was also excellent

Google
A brilliant find in the centre of Madrid! The standout of the restaurant is the service, all staff are extremely attentive and speak at least English and Spanish. The food is very delicious with a wide choice of options. Furthermore the prices are extremely cheap for being in the centre of Madrid, for one person you can expect to pay about €25 for a starter, meal and drink.

We had the pleasure of being served by Leo during our recent visit to Caballero de Gracia, and he truly made the experience exceptional. From the moment we arrived, Leo was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and friendly. His professionalism and warm demeanor added a personal touch that made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the meal. Leo was knowledgeable about the menu, made great recommendations, and ensured that everything arrived just as we hoped — and always with a smile. It’s rare to find someone who combines efficiency with such sincere hospitality. Thank you, Leo, for making our evening so enjoyable. Your service was a highlight of our visit, and we’ll definitely be back — hopefully to be served by you again!

This restaurant pertains to the Andilana chain of restaurants and hotels. One of seven in Madrid. Went for lunch with a reservation and was accommodated half an hour before our reserved time in a small alcove off the main restaurant, not my choice but better than waiting for a table. Given menus and decided not to order the set weekend menu but from the main menu, which featured a photo of a dry rice dish with lamb as shown in the attached photo. We were told not available when I reprimanded the waitress for not advising us when giving us the menus her answer was there isn't any Octupus either.... Starter to share fried baby squid no side dish of ali-oli had to order it. My partner ordered an entrecote steak, which was chewy, with cold chips. Mine was a beef hamburger done medium that came in a brioche bun with a smearing of mayonnaise,a thin slice of cheese, and a small rasher of bacon nothing else. No tomato or onion and had to order ketchup, which they charged 1.50 euros. The burger at 14.00 euros with cold chips was an excuse for lunch, which had become very disappointing. The wine was the only good thing at a reasonable price because the rest was a disaster. Having eaten the day before in one of the seven restaurants in Madrid and previously in Barcelona, it's obvious the same standards are not. applicable to all the restaurants in the chain.

Yelp
Amazing last minute stop. We were amazed with the quality of food, atmosphere and service! Great wine. Amazing duck confit and Thai curry. We will be back. The food was Miami/Las Vegas quality! We went back again and it was equally delicious as the first time! More pictures included.

Yelp
This restaurant is "perfect" for the tourists who don't speak Spanish; their servers predominantly are not Spanish-speaking....hence, the "rave" reviews IMO. It is a fact that Spaniards don't start having dinner until 9 pm. Restaurants, in general, open very late until 1 am on Fridays & Saturday's. We came in at around 6:45 pm, it was 3 blocks away from the apartment we were staying in. Ambiance-wise, it was "fine-dining" enough; however, food-wise, it was casual-dining calibre. I asked one of the employees, she confirmed that their cook/chef is not a Spaniard. I specifically ordered their Paella, it was disappointingly mediocre with three pieces of shrimps, 4 pieces of mussels, 5 small chunks of pork meat and uncooked rice. No trace of sausage at all....at €23. Food ordered had Spanish-sounding names with "fusion" tastes, meaning, not Spanish fare! In retrospect, I think that some of their entrées were REHEATED/canned sauce/definitely not CHEF-prepared. Owners, apparently, are Spanish who hired non-Spanish-speaking crew just to service English-speaking tourists. Got out of this place €120 (6 people) broke. Coke (sabor light), €3.10! Here are some photos.

Yelp
The service here is very efficient. Food and drinks come out less than 10 minutes of ordering. And the waiters are patient if you have trouble speaking Spanish. I had the mojito and bacalao which were pretty satisfying. It seems like every dish here comes with potatoes, not that there's anything wrong with that. For dessert, note that there are two types of flan. One that is cheese based "flan de queso" and one that is egg based "flan de huevo". I personally enjoyed the flan de queso more. There's a huge list of desserts to choose from so feel free to be adventurous. A couple reviews complain about the waiters unwilling to have a conversation and not smiling. Take a look around the restaurant, THEY'RE BUSY and have other guests to attend to. The fact that they can keep quality and efficient at high standard is pretty darn awesome already. On a final note, ambiance is on point. Kudos

Yelp
Brought my husband here on our first night because I'm still a huge fan of the place. Nothing has changed -- place is still nice and the food is still great, along with the prices. Don't get the paella, though...it was more arroz caldoso.

Yelp
About a 2 minute walk from our Gran Via hotel, I loved this restaurant. For the decor and ambiance, I thought the prices were cheap! The food was solid and quite tasty, albeit a tad on the salty side, but the absolute winner here was the flan de queso. It's almost like a cheesecake, but less sweet. Paired with a berry reduction, it was absolutely divine. My absolute favorite dessert of my 10 day trip. I tired to find flan de queso again at other places, but was never able to re-create that magical dessert. Aside: I love how inexpensive getting a bottle of wine is in Spain compared to the States.

Yelp
YUM! I was on holiday in Madrid with my family and we decided to come here for lunch. It was a short walk from our hotel (though, to be frank, Madrid is a relatively small city so everything is within walking distance). There was a 3-course lunch special with 3 different starters, 3 different main courses, and 2 different dessert choices. Since there were three of us, we decided to get one of each of the first two courses and both desserts. Here's what we ate: calamares rebozados con ensalada (calamari) - so tender, crisp breading, not greasy at all ensalada de tomate y queso (salad with tomato and cheese) - fresh salad, the tomatoes were ripe and flavorful, the cheese was soft and delicious carrillada de cerdo en su jugo (pork cheeks) - the meat was succulent and a bit oily but in a good way pasta con espinacas y salmón (pasta with spinach and salmon) - the sauce was sort of heavy, but full of flavor and the pasta was cooked well pollo asado (roast chicken) - simple dish but v. yummy paella mixta - I love paella but I wished this came in the traditional pan so I could get the crusty rice at the bottom, nonetheless it was still good bizcocho de chocolate y helado (chocolate cake with ice cream) - rich and awesome fruta (fruit - they gave us 2 oranges) - these were the best oranges ever - so juicy and delicious Everything was so delicious and the lunch special prices were awesome. They also put a few pieces of bread on the table for us to eat (which was complimentary - be wary that some places charge you for bread).

Yelp
We were recommended by a good friend to dine here. Once at the table, the service was fast and excellent. They are polite and they don't bother you too much while you're eating. The food was served quickly and it was great! We took the patatas bravas, the croquetas and the pica pica. All these dishes were delicious. For dessert we took the chocolate mousse cake and the crepes, the cake was pretty dense and heavy for a chocolate mousse cake but the taste was okay. We took the first rosé wine on the card and it was perfect, at the end we had a nice café con leche.

Yelp
Save your money and go elsewhere. Location is nice, but that doesn't reflect the food. I could have made better food than what I had....and I dont own a restaurant. This was such a waste of a meal. I got these horrid appetizer that was a quesadilla over salad. Main dish was rice and chicken. The rice was so bland and bad. And the dessert was gross too. Worst meal in Europe by far. My in flight food was better. Wow.

Yelp
meal was reasonably priced. Jamon Salad was great. One portion is enough for 2. Cod(baked Bacalao) was great. However ,Paella some rice was not cooked ,please be careful it does not crack your tooth. Flan de Queso was good too. A solid 3.5* .Make sure dont order the paella

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Great selection of dishes, not specifically Spanish but more pan-European. The pasta, duck confit, and lamb shank were all great. Wine was cheap, and the service was excellent. Would definitely return.

Yelp
The food creations here are far more imaginative than the typical Spanish restaurant in this price range. I have always dropped in for lunch and had one of the ~3 menu (3 course lunch special with starter, main dish, dessert and wine/water) offerings. These offer a good variety, are always well prepared, and a good value. The place is almost always crowded and it is clear that many locals like the place. The decor is a bit stark for me, but it is clean and sophisticated.

Yelp
Not one good plate, ordered Gazpacho, Croquetas, Patatas Bravas all tasted terrible. Nothing tasted fresh, nothing was tasty. Giving two stars because in terms of service, they did a decent job... but the good once again was mediocre.

Robert C.

Yelp
Food is good and would recommend for that. The problem is when we paid. They didn't give us a choice to pay in US dollars or Euros. They rang us up in US dollars which is not what we wanted. That means our exchange rate was 22.5% instead of 17.5%. If I didn't know better they purposely tried to rip us off. Will never eat there or recommend to any friends because of that. Food may be good but bad business practice.

Yelp
We walked into the restaurant and were seated quickly. It was relatively early on a Sunday around 7:30 PM. We ordered a salad, sardines (tapas), and a veal dish. Also a 1/2 bottle of rioja. The salad was large and came first. My wife prefers to have salad with dinner so she saved some. We waited and waited and finally a waiter came by and asked if we were ready for the entree. Apparently they were waiting to bring the rest of the meal until we finished the salad. Then the brought the wrong meal and served my wife tuna instead of sardines, even though I had pointed at the sardines entry on the tapas side of the menu. After another 15 minutes they finally brought the sardines and they were quite mediocre. The veal was ground veal served inside a pastry shell which was ok. Altogether a bad experience.

Michael S.

Yelp
Pretty poor experience overall. Ordered cocktails when we sat down. Mine arrived after about 15 minutes, 5 minutes after the starter. We had to wait another 15 minutes for my wife's pisco sour. I'm assuming the delay was caused by somebody googling the ingredients, but not googling how to actually make it: a layer of egg white with a bit of lime on top was more a public health incident waiting to happen than a delicious pre dinner cocktail. Food was mostly ok - gazpacho to start. My main course was a sirloin steak, hidden somewhere between the fat and gristle with an accompaniment of rice and crisps - an unusual combination but not unheard of in Spain. Really nice decor and the menu seems really cheap until you get in and the prices make more sense. With hindsight, I would have paid a bit more and eaten somewhere else.

Yelp
I don't understand why this restaurant has such high reviews. I agree with Humza A, why the great reviews? Yelpers, you let me down! After arriving on a late flight from Bordeaux we were very hungry. It was Sunday evening around 11:30 and not a lot was open so we were thrilled to find this place on YELP. On the positive side, our food came out quickly. Then I realized it was because our food was not freshly cooked. Some of our dishes, like my meatballs, tasted like they came out of a can! The sauce on my husbands fish was a strange gelatinous brown sauce that was a terrible accompaniment. The waiter was efficient and professional, getting it done, without much fuss. However, at the end we put down a large bill for the tip and before we could ask for change he snatched it up in record time and disappeared ! That was the icing on one bad cake. I wish it had been a better experience ... because the restaurant is in a nice environment, but the food did not match up.

Yelp
I chose La Gloria de Montera for lunch one day mostly for convenience but am so glad that it wound up being a great restaurant as well (this place is very convenient to access by metro for most, and for any tourists in the Puerto del Sol area is within close walking distance). My friend and I wanted to have our first menu del dia experience, and La Gloria de Montera was a perfect choice! The interior is modern, clean, and classy. When I walked in around 2 PM, the inside was bustling with well-dressed locals and clientele who looked like they had just gotten off of work. We were seated immediately, and a server came by promptly to take our orders. The menu del dia (less than 11 euros) comes with the choice of appetizer, main course, dessert, and wine or water. Still nursing a headache from some sangria I'd had the night before, I chose the water, so I can't speak for the wine. For the appetizer, I had some sort of egg mixed with salmon and greens (fried), and my friend had something that reminded us of pizza on a bed of greens. Both were good but very heavy, and we were already quite full off the appetizer. For the entree, I ordered cazon with risotto. While I was not too excited that the fish was fried, it was still really tasty, and I really loved the risotto! My friend had the beef with fries, which she enjoyed but also couldn't finish. Finally, for dessert, we split a spiced pear dessert drizzled in orange sauce and flan. I thought the pear dessert was tasty and unique, but the flan was just so delicious! If you like flan, don't miss it! We returned a couple days later, and the menu was slightly different but generally had the same types of offerings. Overall, definitely recommend--especially for tourists. We began by speaking in Spanish, but our server knew quite a bit of English as well, so that was very helpful in interpreting the menu.

Catherine R.

Yelp
Oh fellow Yelpers--how could you have steered us so wrong?? None of our dishes was good, and only one was passable. The vino tinto was acceptable--I wouldn't expect anything spectacular from a house wine, and the price point was appropriate. For starters I ordered the fried calamari and my husband ordered a salad with crab and avocado. The calamari must have been fried at much too low of a temperature because the coating was completely soggy and flavorless. The calamari itself was tender, so I ended up taking the breading off of the squid rings and sprinkling them with salt and lemon. The salad turned out to be a mousse of crab and avocado which was oddly sweet but had very little crab or avocado flavor, served with some greens and small toasts. We were expecting something more like a salad with a variety of vegetables with chunks of crabs and avocado slices. We may have just misunderstood the menu on this one, but regardless, this was not an enjoyable dish. My husband ordered paella as his main dish, and this was the definite low point of the meal. The rice tasted like rice-a-roni and was soggy. There were 3 shrimp (very small with little meat, and one was so undercooked that it was still translucent and squirted liquid when he pressed it with his fork) and 3 shellfish (unidentifiable and dried out). We did find pieces of real pork, but the sausage that was used was spongy, looked like tofu and tasted like vienna sausages from a can. He ended up leaving more than half of the serving in the pan. I ordered gazpacho as my main dish, which was the most acceptable part of the meal. The soup was fresh and had good flavors of tomato, cucumber and pepper, although the green and red peppers used as garnish were not sliced fully through. We had to flag our waiter to get our check, but that seemed to be the norm during our travels. However, most of the wait staff we talked to previously had asked how our meal was--but not this waiter. He just said, "Are you finished?" and then went to get the check. I don't often travel internationally so don't know the general practice in Spain, but I normally would have returned food prepared this poorly to the kitchen. My husband insists I give this less than one star, but I'm not sure how.

Yelp
Our group of 8 really enjoyed this restaurant. It was gourmet food at reasonable prices. It also offered a twist on the traditional Spanish food which is refreshing after several days in Spain.

Loni S.

Yelp
We really enjoyed dinner. Service was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. We think this is the best gaspacho so far. (n=3). The paella was ok, better than some, not the best. The croquettes were sabroso! The best dish was Cod Bacalao.

Torbjorn R.

Yelp
I love table serving on white table cloth for under €10! Nice food, nice decoration, no complaints from us :) Ps. Starter, main and dessert for €10, actually the best deal I have seen in Madrid so far!

Emergentologist L.

Yelp
First time yelp let me down. Granted service was fast and prices were cheap but the quality of food is poor. Had quite a few staters, salmon, risotto, crab, and egg all were tough to eat (and I kept wondering how other yelpers were ok with this place). Hamburger steak for dinner and I ALWAYS finish my food. I couldn't eat half of it. Meat tasted old. My friend had the bass. I tried this, it was ok. They don't have a kids menu or even high chairs.

Terri V.

Yelp
Fantastic and reasonable prices! The salad with goat cheese, pine nuts and honey vinaigrette was amazing. I also had salmon cooked on plank with asparagus. Also very good. This restaurant fills up within an hour of opening, and I wouldn't be surprised if they up their prices soon.

Jon S.

Yelp
Visited based on YELP reviews on a recent business trip to Madrid. Serving sizes are on the upper side for Spain and cost is reasonable. A fairly typical range of Spanish dishes. I found it overall average though in terms of food quality. Croquettes were served with small pieces of toast with a red sauce which I think was meant to be a sort of bruschetta, but it was not that tasty. A crepe of fish was ok but really drowned in a very rich cheesy sauce that pretty much hid the flavor of the fish. Then a pork loin wrapped in a pastry. Meat was tasty but tough. A half bottle of wine. Total around 30 Euros. So good value but not a place I would recommend for a special meal. There are so many better places in Madrid including in this immediate area.

C F.

Yelp
Our hotel suggested this restaurant to us and said it looks very fancy but the price is very affordable. This was very true in our experience. Great food and staff spoke English(also has English menu). The starters were large and delicious. The main: The duck breast and cob were excellent!
