La Gouaille

This is such a great find! Superb food. We had the cassoulet and chicken skewers and both were fantastic! We had the 2 courses and that was plenty. Service was great

We enjoyed dinner with vegetable soup, paté, duck breast and cassoulet at la Gouaille. As we had read previously, they only offer both starters and mains together, so that wasn't unexpected. The starters were okay, the mains were quite good. We especially loved the banoffee cake for desert. The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere at La gouaille was cozy and very homely.

Really good experience. You pay a fixed price for a starter and a main dish. Some dish may require a little extra (from 3 to 5€) but everything is really good. The waitress didn't speak English well but we could understand each other and was very kind. Highly recommend. Only downside is you can't pay with card, so bring cash with you

Nice food but we didn't like the fact that you have to combine every main with a starter and vice versa, without giving you the option to take a second starter or main individually. There was no card payment option either, which although was made clear to us since we entered, it creates an inconvenience for tourists.

Amazing food and super friendly and smiley service. The servers were super nice even with our broken French. The food was flavorful and good value for money. We had an amazing night. The only downside was the heat in the back room, too hot during summer. But otherwise I absolutely loved the chill vibes and the decorations.

Great service and kind staff if (you speak french) asked for cassoulet and camembert and mixed them both flavors 👌🏽 bad thing it was so hot in summer and couldn’t enjoy the food so if you read this during summer time please dress accordingly !! Would definitely come back in winter time… also bring cash no card payment cogh cough

Fun little place with super nice staff and delicious food. For dinner, they had a plate of the day and then a fixe prix programme with a choice of appetizer and main course. I sat at the bar and had the appetizer of the day, a salad with ham and cheese on a bed of lettuce, and the cassoulet aux manchons de canard – both were excellent. €14,50. Outstanding value for an enjoyable and delicious meal.

We had a lovely dinner at La Gouaille! The wait staff was helpful and friendly, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was cozy. We enjoyed the cassoulet and company.

A nice bistrot a block away from the harbor. I had the bouillabaisse and it was full of seafood. The broth, however, was thin and did not add much to the dish. Pleasant spot to people watch with decent service.

Small, cozy restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. Everything was great. Good food, great service, and reasonably priced. A great value for such an amazing dining experience.

La Gouaille served us, to the note, exactly the type of vegetable soup my (non-French) grandma would serve before every dinner when I was growing up. Except this one was served with some crusty bread that soaked it up in folding layers and made it even better. Then some quail stuffed with raisins in a sweet but not gloppy sauce (cornstarch-dependent restaurants please take note) and some kind of delicious green potato smear (we fought over it and dragged everything on the plate through it) and a salad filled with vegetables that tasted like they probably picked them from the garden 3 seconds ago, as per usual in France.

I went in February and can't stop thinking about this place! The host was super friendly and recommend me this chicken dish. Definitely plan to go back one day and eat here again.

I stopped in here after looking for places to eat later than the typical French dinner time. If you're looking for delicious French comfort food at reasonable prices, you could do much worse than here. For about 13€, you get any of their entrees off the menu board plus a bowl of soup, fresh bread, veggies, and a salad. I got the braised chicken and it was so tender and flavorful that it almost made me forget the food in Barcelona only the day before. Almost. The clincher here is that one of the staff is quite fluent in English and he enjoyed chatting at the end of my meal to see how everything was. As I hardly even know the basics of French, it was nice that he was so accommodating to my attempts to eat there. Definitely stop in here for a bite and a drink if you need something more than just sustenance.

The place has a lot of charm, the service was friendly, prices are reasonable, but the food was mediocre at best. We went in the early spring, so it was still cold out and I believe we had soup to start, which was fine, but very simple. The only other detail I remember about the meal was that one person in our party couldn't finish the meat because it was too tough and had too much gristle. Perhaps we caught them on an off night. If I ever eat here again I hope it will be better the second time around.
