This is such a cute and delicious bakery! I went with a friend and liked it so much that I went back and snagged some pastries for my kids and husband an airplane ride away. I put them in a bag, and my daughter wanted more the second she finished her croissant. There isn't really a place to sit in the bakery, but the street it's on has plenty of tables and chairs. 10/10

The moment I walked in, the smell of fresh pastries pulled me right in. They offered samples of their almond chocolate croissant (amazing) and the woman at the counter was so welcoming, answering all my questions with a smile. She recommended their macarons — and I’ve never liked macarons before — but theirs completely changed my mind. Light, flavorful, and hands down the best macaron I’ve ever had. I also took home a ham & cheese quiche slice that made the perfect breakfast the next morning. Between the friendly service, delicious pastries, and cozy atmosphere, this place is a must-visit in Lawrenceville.

Google
Great service, excellent pastries and sandwiches! Really can’t go wrong with anything here, but would definitely recommend the Montagnard sandwich if you’re a prosciutto lover, and the almond croissants!

Google
Very cute bakery but I think I just need to come on a day when I know the prepared items are fresh. The croissants look to die for but I got the pistachio eclair and it was flavor wise amazing but it had the texture that it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. So I’ll definitely go back and make sure it’s fresh but besides that it was very good.

Google
I stopped by La Gourmandine with my wife this weekend after hearing great things from my family and friends. It definitely lived up to the hype. Perfectly flaky croissants and elegant pastries. I visited this restaurant at around 1pm on a Saturday and it wasnt very busy. I hope to come back soon.

Google
What an excellent place to get delicious pastries. Especially French pastries. I thought the prices would probably be quite excessive, but this isn’t the case. Quite reasonable actually. I got to try out their clafoutis, abricotine (apricot pastry), and chouquettes. All 3 were very good. The clafoutis was wasn’t exactly like a pudding that I imagined. It was a lot more firm. Still, it was quite tasty and not too eggy. I loved the touch of cherries in there. Good portion for the price too. The chouquettes were a very lovely little pastry. Nice little snack and very cheap, but they are also very small. Plenty of sugar beads surrounding the patty, and the inside is a great firm texture as well. But buttery inside. The apricot was my favorite. It was somewhat like a danish with an apricot in the middle, but also somewhat like an apricot croissant. You have to try one of these out. Not too sweet. Goes very well with morning coffee. Buttery pastry. Nice! All in all, a very nice bakery in Lawrenceville. I’d love to come back and try out more items, but everything I had was great!

No sits available, but the breads were good as a dessert! Staff were friendly and professional!

Yelp
Holy wow! The pastries here are unbelievable. The almond croissant pictured is insane. A cookie on top of a croissant? My daughter gobbled up her chocolate croissant and said "this is the best I've ever had!" Perfect spot for breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Great seats outside when the weather cooperates!

Yelp
We stopped by on a whim on Sunday around 12:30 and decided to grab a quick bite to eat. There's three small tables with two chairs each and umbrellas on the sidewalk in front of the bakery. The inside is quite small and there's no room to sit and eat inside. They're quite fast at not only boxing up your pastries but also at heating them up if requested. There is a lunch special that's a sandwich or a croissant with a drink. My friend and I shared two of those and the croissant was delicious and the sandwich was flavorful. Everything was very affordable. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Alison C.

Yelp
They had a decently varied selection of French pastries and patisserie. Prices were surprisingly affordable for French patisserie type food especially. The classic baguette and croissants were delicious. The eclair had a surprise chocolate filling that was rich and not too sweet (ideal)! Employees were very kind and helped answer some of my questions. All together, 2 baguettes, a lemon tart, an eclair, and a few choix pasrty were $13. Not too shabby! The lemme tart was also delicious, i could eat it everyday.

Yelp
La Gourmandine is by far my favorite pastry shop in Pittsburgh. Standouts include the marquise, with the chocolate mouse pairing extremely well with their crunchy base, and their almond chocolate croissant which is the ultimate breakfast indulgence. Their staff is always friendly and I like their wide variety of cakes available too which are perfect for parties and events. This store is more of a grab and go than a sit in place but there are parks nearby to enjoy any treats.

Yelp
Heard amazing things about their almond croissants so getting one became my mission. They have a few locations but I came to this one located in Lawrenceville. Small little shop with delicious looking pastries behind the counter. I ordered an almond croissant of course, and asked if they could heat it up. It was $4.20 for one. First impression of it, I didn't think I would be impressed because of how flat it appears to be. But I was wrong! It's sweet but not overwhelming and filed with delicious almond filling. The pastry isn't super flaky but more so buttery. I enjoyed it!

Yelp
Love La Gourmandine! Such a great French bakery in Lawrenceville. We stopped in quickly for an almond croissant - absolutely to die for and my favorite thing to get by far! The friendly staff offered my son a tiny little puff pastry - so sweet! He loved it, of course!

Yelp
We are so lucky to have La Gourmandine is Pittsburgh. It's a true French bakery serving up the most delicious fresh baked goods. The choquettes are a must - especially when they're fresh out of the oven. They have an incredible raspberry tart and lemon tart. On occasion they will have unique holiday specials with fun new pastry flavors. Plus everything is well priced! Love coming here for my sweet fix.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Best pastries in Pittsburgh!!! Love their amazing raspberry tart - i think about it maybe once a week. Always good service & inside smells delicious, watch out you can't leave without buying something or 2!
google avatar

Yelp
Want your croissant fix? Please come here! Randomly was trying the different croissant spots and stumbled upon this one. Omg I've been here 3 times in 10 days! Love these croissants! The vanilla custard with chocolate chip croissants is my favorite. I'm definitely addicted to this place. They have sandwiches as well and it's simple and great as well! They have a bunch of pastries , cakes and bread as well. It's a small store and as soon as you enter you will be in a different world. That baked goods aroma! Gotta love it! Will definitely be going back here for all the croissants!

Yelp
Wanted a quick breakfast/brunch while on the go and decided to pop into La Gourmandine. I got the bacon and cheese quiche and an almond croissant. The quiche was good, but the almond croissant was amazing! I'd definitely come back to try more pastries next time in the area.

Yelp
While I remain faithful to my favorite French Bakery, Jean-Marc's in Millvale, I have finally succumbed to the gourmet deliciousness of La Gourmandine in Lawrenceville. Their tartes are extraordinary, very authentic and delicious. The clerk was extremely helpful and professional. The location is convenient, although parking is sometimes a challenge. The ambiance is delightful and the small dining area is quite charming.

Yelp
ORDER Latte with Whole Milk and Pumpkin Syrup - coffee taste great! The flavor was good and the pumpkin flavoring wasn't too overpowering. Overall, the drink wasn't that sweet which I personally like a lot better. Lorraine Quiche - They heated up the quiche. This hands-down was the best quiche that I've had! It was nice and creamy. The meat was cooked well and it wasn't too salty. The crust is light and flaky, which was delicious. The bacon and ham were yummy! Really enjoyed it! Panier Framboise - the raspberries were fresh and covered with some sweet syrup. Overall, the pastry was pretty good. Flaky texture surrounding in the customer part isn't too sweet. Also really good pastry! VIBES The place has some seating along the walls as well as some higher table seating. A lot of people coming in and out to just grab and go, but seems like a nice place to sit down for a bit and chat. SERVICE Service is great and personable. They're all very nice and kept on updating me for the status of the quiche heating. Everything came out relatively fast!

Yelp
Their seasonal pistachio eclair is divine. Definitely check it out if you're in the area service was so quick. I'm so friendly. They even gave my dog a special treat. I love the ambience inside. I took my items to go. I will be back again. Thank you so much

Yelp
OK so my pics are from the downtown location, but I went to the Lawrenceville LA Gourmandine first. My ex gave me a comprehensive tour of all his favorite Pittsburgh area spots, and LG was at the top of the list - and I see why. We've had a lot - a lot - of almond croissants. La Gourmandine's is the best! My mom went on our recommendation, also an almond croissant lover, and she approved. All of their pastries and desserts, everything is so good. On our trips to Pittsburgh, one of our favorite things was picking up baguettes and pastries from LG and enjoying them in the park, especially since Lawrenceville is such a great neighborhood. Staff are so nice and welcoming every time we come in, and they always help us with recommendations when we have decision paralysis. I wish there was a place like LG in my neighborhood and I definitely miss it!

Yelp
This is a great place if you're looking for French pastries. They have many different options of croissants, including savory ham and cheese or egg. They also have some amazing desserts, such as flan, pumpkin cheesecake, eclairs, etc. I prefer the savory ham and cheese myself, but if you're looking for something sweet while they have a lot of great options here. The staff was very engaging and friendly. They were also quick and efficient as there was a bit of a line, but it went fast.

Yelp
We don't get here as often as we should, but this place is amazing. They are consistently good and always have amazing offerings. Such unique and tasty breads and pastries. I have never ordered anything that isn't extremely fresh and delicious. I need to get back here ASAP.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
I come here every year for my birthday, and it never disappoints. It's my favorite pastry place and the desserts are fantastic too. I think I've been to every single location, and while the employees aren't always the nicest (they were at this one) the quality of the food makes me not care very much about that. lol. The croissants are always my go to. Almond and almond chocolate!
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time in this location, I've been to Lawrenceville before, but this closer to my work. I stopped in for lunch because I was craving French bread. I can not say the staff was overly welcoming, there was about 3 people total in line when I was there and a bunch of screaming "who's next?!" or irritation when people were out of line to look. Maybe try a number system? I ordered a few items, neither person working were friendly or really approachable. When I ordered a macron I was immediately met with "which one?" I only noticed one Macron at first so when I asked what the options were the person helping me pointed to the 2 in the window. Macrons are by far my favorite treat, and this one was not great especially since it cost around $5. The shell was super hard. It did not have that soft crunch that macron shells have and it felt like it was old or was sitting there for longer than a day. The Eclair however was the saving grace. It was delicious! I also got a loaf of bread, which was okay, literally nothing to brag about. And Pan Au Chocolate which was also good. My total was around $20 with those items and I feel like for the value and experience alone I could of gone somewhere else.

Yelp
La Gourmandine is authentic and delicious! Their pastries are large and perfect for sharing and trying different ones with friends. Everything this bakery makes is soft and delicate and bursting with flavor! I tried the Paris-Brest and Bouche de Noel. Both were very light and flavorful. I love the larger portions so that you can share or eat it all to yourself! Do yourself a favor and make sure to check out this bakery at their many various locations around the city!

Kris S.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful and bursting with flavor! I found myself in need of some tempting desserts for an evening gathering, so I popped into this charming place to pick up a few sweet treats. The enticing aroma greeted me at the door, making my mouth water in anticipation.

Sumbha P.

Yelp
I've been going to this place for eight years. I love their pain au chocolat. The last three times I've gone, ever since the ICE raids began, I've been treated poorly. Today, was the worst. There was a long line behind me and I was not waited on-the server asked the customer behind me for her order instead of me. The treatment had gotten progressively worse since the first time this change in behavior began. There were six servers not helping anyone because I was next. I am brown. I am a citizen. I'll never go back. I'd rather go without than show up to pay to be mistreated. Shame on you. I believe your owner has an accent, is from another country, and probably isn't even a citizen. Shame, shame, this behavior disgusts.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid bakery! They have a lot of great treats. Not to mention thin they make nice sandwiches that aren't outrageously priced.
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
Ok any visit to Pittsburgh means a visit to this fabulous bakery. The thing is it's been years since I had to wait in line for a 9 am Saturday opening of a bakery. Is it worth the wait, yes and you should go. I'm a little surprised week days they open at 8am and Saturday:Sunday at 9am? They have all of your favorite treats from fabulous croissants, breads and other pastries. The inside is light and bright and staff is helpful. If you register your phone number you get points for your next purchase when it hits a certain number. They have a few locations and it's my first time to this one. Parking is street only.
google avatar

H. Elwood G.

Yelp
After many loyal years as a customer, I have to say, this place is still a great way to spend $25 and sometimes I just crave those sandwiches the Compagnard and the Montagnard.
google avatar

Samantha R.

Yelp
Their chocolate mousse cake was absolutely unreal! I've only ever tried pastries from la Gourmandine but now that I've had their cakes I am definitely prioritizing their higher end desserts moving forward. The cake we ordered was for 12 servings but because it was so rich it ended up being closer to 20 servings or more. It was so good, so decadent, and some of the best cake I've ever had. Perfect for chocolate lovers and people who love a fancy dessert!!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best French bakeries I've been to in my lifetime. I think it's actually better than most of the bakeries I've been to in France. You can't go wrong with any pastry you order here, but my all time favorite is their almond croissant. This place is on my list of must tries in Pittsburgh! They have various locations around the city but Butler St is my personal favorite. Their bakery is cute and cozy, and the staff is always wonderful. Only thing to note is there is a $10 minimum for card. I always forget to bring cash.

Patricia W.

Yelp
when inquiring about a special order at la gourmandine, dwight at the downtown store told me to call the kitchen manager to ask if my request could be met. this is, without question abhorrent customer service!!!!!!! perhaps the representative at the establishment where i am doing business can find out if the needs of the customer can be met?????? dwight at the downtown store created an exceedingly dissatisfied customer.

Yelp
La Gourmandine was founded in 2010 by a husband and wife who moved from France to Pittsburgh. Their menu includes lunch foods (e.g., baguette sandwiches, quiches, and soups), pastries (e.g., eclairs, tarts, and macarons), danishes (e.g., croissants, chouquettes, and madeleines), breads (e.g., baguettes and white bread), and special-order foods (e.g., cakes). I had previously eaten baked goods from other locations of La Gourmandine, so I wanted to try baked goods from this location in Lawrenceville. The town has limited parking, so my husband and I had to park our vehicle on another street. As soon as we entered the bakery, the employees greeted us. My husband selected one plain croissant and one gourmandise (a pastry of vanilla cream and chocolate). I chose one tarte aux fruit (shortbread with vanilla cream and fruit) and one tarte aux framboises (shortbread with almond cream and raspberries). An employee carefully packaged the baked goods and charged us a price of about $16. At home, my husband and I ate our baked goods. My husband's croissant and gourmandise were fresh, flaky, and flavorful. My two tartes had crispy shortbread crusts and contained sweet creams and fresh fruits.

Yelp
Delicious! I need not say anymore. Get yourself here! I really enjoyed my abricotine and pain au chocolat. The soup and bread to go with it was also wonderful.
google avatar

Rim G.

Yelp
Favorite bakery in Pittsburgh! I can't recommend this place enough. Their food is amazing. Croissants - I recommend Pannier Framboise & Gourmandine above all. Pastries - I love their Fraisier cake, tartes & macarons. I like their madeleines THE BEST! Service has always been great & fast. They have a good reward program for you to get $4 off after you spend $60. Not too bad. Definitely a good destination for a tasty yet not too expensive birthday cake. Highly recommend if you haven't tried this place yet.
google avatar

Sophia P.

Yelp
so i did a pickup order for my first time and they forgot to put one of my items I ordered in there, i guess i should have checked it before i left... but the almond croissant was amazing and all the food in there looked soo good. I thought everyone was friendly! will be returning

Yelp
Une boulangerie très authentique. From the stand-offish counter staff, to the confused tourists, grimy floors, and the ham sandwiches in the deli case, entering this shop is like stepping through a portal to a world where the French never surrendered Fort Duquesne. My partner and I really appreciated the ambiance, and the pastries are great. That said, it's a really authentic experience so may not be palatable to all American audiences. If you want an espresso drink, go elsewhere-- this is a bakery, not a bistro after all!
google avatar

Lilee N.

Yelp
Get the gourmandine!! i thought it was raisins but it's chocolate chips! All pastries and baked goods looked ahhh-mazing. Chocolate eclairs hit the spot and just the right amount of sweetness. They have croissants galore as well, even almond ones that are not too sugary sweet. Chocquettes are adorable and perfect for kids or snacking. Line moves quickly. They accept Apple Pay. Downside is the location and the parking. Otherwise friendly efficient staff. A great refined and upscale bakery in Pittsburgh
google avatar

Yelp
Macarons au fruits. Very big and sweet with fresh raspberries. Not sure I picked up on the lychee

Chloe R.

Yelp
My partner ordered an assortment of pastries and OH MY WORD. each one was more delicious than the next. not only are they beautiful but they tasted SO GOOD. You can tell they were made with care. So happy to support this small business!

Yelp
Got delice de pistache and la gourmandine (vanilla cream inside flaky pastry, with chocolate chips) - la gourmandine - it was good, but not terribly special - delice de pistache - really liked the pistachio flavor, and I liked that the cream was also green/?infused with pistachio. there were also little crunchy chocolate balls Happy with my experience, would return to try other items
google avatar

Yelp
Best lemon tarte I've ever had . Sent a collection of pastries to our local vet office to say thank you for their service, will come here again.

Yelp
Okay...so YUMMY! As I write this I'm halfway through an almond croissant (forgive my not using the fancy French name for it) but...delicious! I was driving through Lawrenceville, saw the shop and had to stop because, well, bakery, right? Looking over their wares I pretty much settled on "two of everything!". Hey...I've got my son and I, my daughter's family, and a friend or two to spoil. In any case...wow! The macaroon-like treats are great...and I'm confident all the other treats will be as well...well, whatever I have left to try after my distributions. Excellent! Best bakery I've tried in quite a while! Great stuff here!
google avatar

Yelp
Always delicious. As I was creating this Yelp to attach the photos, I became aware that there is a 4 person Marquise? I already can't wait to go back, and now I know what I'm getting

Yelp
staff was solo nice, spoke with the owner and she talked a bit about her shop. a friend and i ordered a chocolate crosssaint snd my other friend ordered a marquise which were all super yum.

Yelp
Ordered takeout (for delivery) from here while visiting Pittsburgh, so I cannot comment on what I'm sure is an adorable pastry shop. I can, however, comment of the food! We sampled the Gourmandise, Panier Framboise, Brioche Bostock, and the Croissant aux Jambon. Each item was executed to perfection. I felt like I was in Paris. I can't think of a single flaw. Really and truly, these creations are outstanding. I will definitely include La Gourmandine on any future trips to Pittsburgh. Don't sleep on this one :)
google avatar

Stefanie Y.

Yelp
We walked past this wonderful bakery on our first evening in Pittsburgh and casually stopped by the next morning. Turns out the rest of Pittsburgh had the same idea - there was a long line. And that line is very much deserved. Over the course of our next two days in Pittsburgh, we tried the croissant, the almond croissant, the gourmandise, the éclair au pistache, the panier framboise, the croissant au jambon, and two different types of sandwiches. Everything we had was incredible. The croissant pastry dough was wonderfully flaky and flavorful, the pastry cream used for the gourmandise and panier framboise was decadent and redolent of vanilla, the sandwich ingredients were high-quality (the tomatoes were so sweet!) and the bread had the perfect level of chew, and the éclair was truly special. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, ensuring the long line moved quickly even as people ordered 10(!) baguettes, half a dozen croissants, and other huge quantities of pastries that showed just how much the community loves this bakery. I wish I had time to try everything here - everything we tried was delicious (with perhaps the most delicious ones being the gourmandise, the almond croissant, and the éclair). La Gourmandine was our last stop before leaving Pittsburgh, and I could not think of a sweeter way to end our trip.

Yelp
Can you tell how much I'm in love with their sandwich lol. Tried their baguette sandwiches three times in a row!! Love the prosciutto one the most but honestly, all three are amazing - highly recommend!

oirli a.

Yelp
What a little gem! Perfect buttery crunch and flakiness with the soft chew of the almond paste from the Croissant Almandes or egg custard from the Gourmands. The super-size macron with raspberry- loving that concept! Quick service, good selection, grab and go.
google avatar

Victoria K.

Yelp
Honestly.... live laugh la gourmandine. I've never had a bad thing here, but I absolutely adore the almond croissant. That thing is crispy, flaky, full of almond flavor, and not overly filled so that it gets all over your fingers. It also has this bready, crunchy, almond top that adds additional nuttiness. I've eaten it fresh (yum), and I've eaten it a day later (ALSO yum). I'm also an absolute hoe for their lemon tart. The crust breaks just the way you want it to and has all the buttery goodness you want it to. The only thing that has fallen short for me was their Gourmandise, which is the chocolate and vanilla custard filled pastry. I'm not sure what it was, but it was on the slightly sour end and did not meld well together at all which was surprising. The pastry itself was also not as flaky as the other croissants, so it was just generally disappointing. My biggest regret is that I left Pittsburgh before trying their savory sandwiches. Whenever I visit next, I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
I love this bakery. Service is always quick and their pastries are always fresh. Their pastries are Paris level in my opinion!
google avatar

Selina C.

Yelp
The best bakery in Pittsburgh! I tried their lemon tart, flan, almond croissant, and baguette lardons. Their almond croissants are to die for, and their flan was incredibly smooth. Staff were sweet and fast. There's no place to sit indoors, but there are some benches in a park area nearby.

Yelp
Just dropping a quick review and photo of some delicious Valentines Day treats from La Gourmandine. The red one was richer dark chocolate with a light wager on the bottom, whereas the brown one was more milk chocolate with a thick cookie bottom. Both beautiful and yummy!
