What is Cocido Madrileño, Madrid's Popular Stew? - AFAR

"A bright, homey eatery on the north side of Madrid that serves a modestly priced cocido, recommended by chef Gabriela Llamas for visitors seeking an affordable, unpretentious version of the city’s iconic stew." - Leah Messinger

I am a bit disappointed with my lunch experience at La gran tasca. To start the service was not on point, both waiters kept forgetting my orders, nevertheless they were very kind. To the food - the chipirones were not bad but also nothing amazing. The cocido madrileño is not my cup of tea as I did not like most of the meat cuts - very strange tastes and kind of dry. The portions are massive and waste so much food, not sustainable at all. To the atmosphere - miserable no vibe at all in the lower floor of the restaurant, the top floor had some more life in it but it was all very bland.

Best Cocido in town. Food and wine are great. The portion is huge though, so it is alright if you will be able to finish.

Yelp
Looks as all Tasca of Madrid have to look: with bullfighting motifs, pictures of greats soccer players in the walls and good quality wine. The cocido madrieño (Madrid stew) here is the best of the city. First they give you broth and then a tray with all sorts of things: chorizo, potatoes, chickpeas, black pudding, stuffing, chicken, carrots, etc... If you have to impress friend or family with traditional food, this is the place.
