23 Best Things to Do in Montreal

"Aside from those with a fear of heights, who doesn’t love a ferris wheel? Situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River just steps from Old Montreal, the largest observation wheel in Canada, brings guests nearly 200 feet into the sky, offering panoramic views over the city, tee river, and Mount Royal. It’s touristy, but it’s worth it for those of us who love seeing cities from above. Bringing you high above Old Montréal, each ride is long enough for you to appreciate the sights and start to understand the city’s topography, but not so long that you’re wishing it would be over. For added thrills, upgrade to the “VIP Package” aboard gondola number 42: It’s the only one on the wheel that has a glass floor and Italian leather seats." - Todd Plummer

La Grande Roue de Montréal — Attraction Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tell me: What’s this place all about? Aside from those with a fear of heights, who doesn’t love a ferris wheel? Situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River just steps from Old Montreal , the largest observation wheel in Canada, brings guests nearly 200 feet into the sky, offering panoramic views over the city, tee river, and Mount Royal. What’s it like being there? It’s touristy, but it’s worth it for those of us who love seeing cities from above. Is there a guide involved? There isn’t much by way of narration or “look in this direction to see this” in the individual gondolas, which is actually quite nice. That way you can soak in the sights and let the cityscape do the talking. Who comes here? The wheel is expectedly big with the tourist crowd. Did it meet expectations? The old “start your trip from the highest point to get your bearings” travel trope couldn’t be more true here, because it’s very easy to otherwise forget that Montreal is in fact an island, in a large river, with a literal mountain rising up in the middle of downtown. Bringing you high above Old Montréal, each ride is long enough for you to appreciate the sights and start to understand the city’s topography, but not so long that you’re wishing it would be over. For added thrills, upgrade to the “VIP Package” aboard gondola number 42. It’s the only one on the wheel that has a see-through glass floor and extra-comfy Italian leather seats. So then what, or who, do you think it’s best for? The whole thing is a twenty-minute affair, so it’s an easy thing to add on to your itinerary if you’re in the Old Montréal area. Just note that tickets are about $20-25 CAD each, so it can get a little pricy if you’re traveling with several little ones in tow, although there are some modestly discounted family ticket bundles available." - Todd Plummer

La Grande Roue is such a beautiful spot to walk around and enjoy the scenic views of Old Montreal. We booked the VIP cabin and it was absolutely worth it — the views were stunning from the top, especially with the comfort and privacy the VIP experience offers. Whether you’re visiting or a local, it’s a great way to take in the city from a whole new perspective. Highly recommend for a relaxing and memorable outing!

La Grande Roue is a must-do when visiting Old Montreal. The ride is smooth, the cabins are climate-controlled and comfortable, and the views from the top are absolutely breathtaking you can see the river, downtown, and even Mount Royal! It’s a great experience both during the day and at night when the city lights up. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking for a unique perspective of the city. We had to wait more than an hour, suggest going on a regular day than holidays or weekend. Definitely worth the visit — a memorable highlight of our trip!

Google
It was truly a highlight of my Montreal visit. The views from the top are absolutely stunning — you can see the St. Lawrence River, Old Montreal, and even the downtown skyline all at once. The gondolas are clean, spacious, and climate-controlled, which made the ride comfortable even on a hot summer day. It’s a peaceful experience that gives you a whole new perspective on the city.

Google
Very nice views from the top. Everyone gets three rounds on it for about 30 mins. The whole area is great with several kid friendly activities. There are paddle boats, zip line, shops and a nice kids play area.

Must do! Get a sky high glimpse if Montreal from your own private sky cab. It goes around slow and they take you on a few rotations. It did not feel too long or too short. Just the right amount of air time and very comfortable

Google
We did the 2 person VIP ride and it was really fun. Climate controlled and comfortable. Since I haven't done the cheaper car ride, I can't compare the experiences. The only thing slightly negative I could say is it was a short ride for the cost. Only about 15 minutes for $91 for two people. I think that should have bought us 30 minutes. Otherwise, it was a lot of fun. After reading some of the other reviews, I am surprised at the different experiences. We got about 15 minutes in our private car for 2 at $91 while others said they had 30 minutes our more.

Yelp
While visiting the Old Port) it's hard to miss the towering Ferris wheel, La Grande Rou de Montreal. The view can never be better, enjoy the thrilling view of Old Montréal, the city center, and the St. Lawrence River on the highest Ferris wheel in Canada, La Grande Roue de Montréal. 42 climate-controlled cabins gently lift riders nearly 200 feet and go through three revolutions on this 20-minute ride. I know, I know, only 3 rides, but I guess 15 mins is good enough. There are 2 types of cabins- 1-Cabins that seat up to eight, 2-Gondola- A spacious VIP cabin, which is equipped with a glass floor and Italian leather seating for four riders. There are also lots of food trucks if you're craving poutine, cotton candy, ice cream, or other small bites.

Yelp
Pros: Fantastic views of the city Line moves quickly and you get on right away Ride time is about 20 minutes with about 3 trips to the top 6 people can easily sit in each car - there is a table to set your stuff on Cons: $25 CAD per person is a bit steep The car's AC wasn't working and couldn't be adjusted so it was stuffy inside It would be nice if there is an audio description of what we are seeing or pictures Pro tip: There is a snack bar and upstairs seating once you get off. Great place to enjoy after your ride.
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoy Ferris wheels. La Grande Roue De Montreal is a great Ferris wheel that features amazing views of downtown Montreal. The prices here seem a bit steep, around $22 per person for two or three rotations. The ride lasts about eighteen minutes. All in all, this a fun place as a tourist.
google avatar

Mai T.

Yelp
What a breathtaking view to look over the city! The ride is about 20 minutes long and goes around 3 times. The cabins have air conditioning which is a plus in the summer. The line goes quickly since the ferris wheels stops and allows plenty of people to jump on. A bit on the pricey side if you may be a bigger crowd. I went at night but I think I would have preferred the day.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the tallest observation wheel in Canada (200 ft) with the best views in the city. Cabins are temperature-controlled, cool in summer and heated in the wintertime. There is an ice skating ring right next to it. It definitely got my attention.
google avatar

Yelp
The Ferris Wheel area offers great views of Montreal. While it is pricey, the views make it worth it. The area nearby is also nice to sit and enjoy a picnic.

Yelp
It is so much fun! For the price you pay, you get three spins and a beautiful view of Montreal.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were visiting Montréal, and he really wanted to ride La Grande Roue. So on a rainy Saturday, we walked a few blocks from our hotel, bought tickets from the electronic kiosks, and went in. Perhaps the rain deterred people, but we boarded almost immediately after showing our tickets, and we had an eight-person gondola to ourselves. Unlike most Ferris wheels, the gondola is almost completely enclosed, with windows for ventilation. It's also very slow moving so passengers can enjoy the view. The rain spoiled our view a little bit, but that can't be helped. We did see enough to enjoy the experience, including the changing colors of leaves. A $30 (Canadian) ticket gets you three revolutions, which lasts about 20 minutes, and the doors to your cabin open when it's time for you to leave. I'd love to come back to Montréal and ride again when the weather is nicer.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent views! I always love a good Ferris wheel! I love seeing a city this way. At night, it's lit up and really beautiful. It's worth the money. You get a long ride, approximately 20 minutes. It's very comfortable and you can even adjust the temperature inside. You don't have to share with strangers. You get your own car/pod.

Yelp
Giant Ferris Wheels are not my go to activity, but I was solo traveling in Montreal and walking around the Old Port and thought "why not"? There was no line but I wasn't the only one on it it so in a way, it made me feel better. I went to buy a ticket and I was going to pay in CAD and the cashier asked me to pay in credit because he didn't want to give me change. I had almost exact so if he couldn't do change, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but he insisted that I pay by cc. Once I had my ticket, I was able to immediately board the wheel when I got to the platform. The cars look like they could fit 8 people in a perfect world, but it would be super cramped if that's the case. I had a car to myself and off we went! The car is ventilated so you stay at a nice temp while riding. I definitely got a little nervous with the sways but it wasn't anything serious. I will say, I wasn't sure how long I was to stay on for and if I had to signal to get off because there was no instruction in any language of how it works. There is a button in the car you can press to signal you want to get off and I pressed it so the wheel stopped when I got to the bottom. The door opened and I was going to get out and the attendant came out and said "no, you have 1 more round!". I just said ok and got back in and back I went for another turn. I liked that I got a view of the city that I didn't get anywhere else. I got to see Habitat 67 from afar, I would have loved to see it but the wheel was the closest I was going to get. Overall, I think it ties in nicely to the touristy feel of the old port area and recommend at least once.

Yelp
Went during Christmas time. The line was not long. Ice-skating outside was lively. The view was very beautiful. Convenient coffee shops, right outside, with pastries, and other light meals you can buy. Included some videos took during the ride. We decided To walk around after the ride and it was also very nice . Water front view was very nice even during winter time. It was a different sight to see with a partial of water is frozen.

Yelp
1. Line: bearable compared to other big cities 2. A group of people in a cart. No strangers will be with you 3. Price: okay 4. View: Good thorough view of Montreal, which is not much to begin with but it is fun experience, why not.

Yelp
We went during our visit during the International Jazz Fest! My husband and our 2 friends had purchased the MTL Pass allowing ourselves to easily gain access to a few spots during our visit. The first place we used the MTL pass was La Grande Rouge de Montreal. On a busy Saturday we were able to walk right up in line as the second group. I was impressed by most places in Montreal that the lines were almost nonexistent compared to when I lived in NYC. Once inside our seats of this wheel, the temperature is controlled with AC, which was a nice break from the heat and there's a TV. The windows are floor to ceiling - allowing beautiful views of both the city and the river on the other side. You're able to go around 3 full times which eludes to at least 10-15 minutes or so? It was a very enjoyable ride to soak in all the beauty of Montreal!

Yelp
What an amazing time we had at the Roue (the Ferris wheel). We went on a long weekend, on a nice day but the lines werent big. We made the reservations in advance but there wasnt any wait for ticket lines either. The view from above was just great. Adult ticket is $25CAN + Taxes. The ride was smooth. It took us for 3 rounds and it wasn't fast. So, we had plenty of time to enjoy the view and take pictures. There were also some toy train rides, zipline and other fun activities in the complex. Don't miss the photo op with the huge I LOVE MTL sign.
google avatar

Marni M.

Yelp
My friends used our Montreal passports to gain access to this on a deserted Thursday night. The skyline was beautifully lit up and perfectly clear. We were able to make three rotations admiring the view. It was comfortable in the pod as there was only my party of three inside able to move and switch seats. There's also air conditioner inside to keep the temperatures cool. The workers were professional and friendly in implementing the rules of obtaining tickets at the information booth and no smoking. Would definitely do again!
google avatar

Jo L.

Yelp
We visited the Ferris wheel around noon and circled the attraction 3 times. The ride provided a great view of Montreal and the St. Lawrence River. We were also able to see the Biosphere, downtown Montreal, and the Champlain Bridge. We were able to get the student discount at $25.01 CA per ticket (the original price was $28.74 CA), and would recommend going on the ride once for the experience but might leave it at that. Overall, great views and great service, but a tad too pricey.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
I loved the ride on the La Grande Roue. One ride is 3 rotations around--approximately 20-25 minutes. Great Views of downtown Montreal. Your own private car. Approx. $25 a person CAD. Only go with someone you don't mind being trapped with high in the air for 20 minutes unable to escape. There is a bar at the bottom for before and after the ride.
google avatar

Kathryn P.

Yelp
Must do in Montreal! Not only you get to enjoy the view of Montreal but it is nicely temp control and you get to ride with your friend/family without sharing space w strangers. It is truly worth every penny!

William K.

Yelp
La Grande Roue is simply put an observation wheel in Montreal. Not much more to say about that. It's something you should do when in the area, absolutely. The views are great and you get at least three trips up and down on the wheel. The rooms inside are also air conditioned which is great, especially on hot summer days. However, I'm not sure if it's worth the money or time. You could easily spend this money looking around the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts or nearby Old Montreal, but definitely don't take this off your to-do list when in Montreal. Experience it once, but leave it at that. Simply put, I do recommend this attraction but only if you've never been on it before.
google avatar

Jeffrey W.

Yelp
Fun Ferris Wheel. You get three loops for about $25 Canadian. Great views of the Old Town and pier area. We didn't have to wait at all, we just purchased a ticket and was on the wheel in minutes.
google avatar

Regis K.

Yelp
A must visit place when in Montreal. Especially at night, the place is filled with people and food trucks. It's a fun place to bring the whole family. For tourists, it's place for Instagram picture taken to show to your friends and family back home. Along the river bank, there are many bike rental racks where you can just rent a bike for a small cost and ride along the the bike path to see all the beautiful night scenes of Montreal. Additionally, there are many restaurants around this area too if you don't like the trunk foods. There are all ethnic foods including French, Greek, Asian and Mediterranean. In the morning, you can get some good croissants and pastries in Old Montreal just couple blocks from here. We had good breakfast here.
google avatar

Chunjai K.

Yelp
Fairies wheel in Montreal isn't bad. Would be nice if the weather is better. I don't know how many rounds we were in the wheel at least 3 rounds. The cabin can take 5-6 people but we are 3 so has more room. Even the faires wheel looks very high from far but when we were actually on the top we still feel it wasn't that tall. We love the experience anyway.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Goes around four times, great views, they only put one party in each gondola, definitely worth the $25 CAD.
google avatar

Yelp
Right into early evening, hubs dodged the line and purchased 2 tickets for the Ferris Wheel right from his phone. And for 22.50 CAD$- this wheel gives you 3 turns and a freaking gorgeous nighttime (or day- just find out time) view of the Montréal's Old Port. I think the last time I was in a Ferris Wheel was eons ago. But I thought it was super cool on a freaking frigid night to do something adventurous in Montréal. The area leading up to the wheel has a small spot for 'snow tubing' and further in- there's an ice skating rink. Getting to the wheel itself is plain and simple: stay within the rope barriers and security guard #1 checks for tickets- paper copy or barcode on phone. Security Guard #2 checks to see if your ticket is legit or something. Get on the actual Ferris wheel line and it's a short waiting game from here. There was another couple plus us inside the wagon (or cart?). Even though 4 more people can fit, I'd say a total of 6 passengers is more than enough. I've no idea how many wagons are in the wheel but it's pretty big. It was super exciting to say the least and it really brought some nostalgia during the Christmas Holiday. I'd do it all over again- heights and all!
google avatar

Susie L.

Yelp
Came here on thanksgiving around 10:00 am. Parked in their lot, which wasn't cheap, to ride their Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel was roughly $25.00/person. Prices are less for children/toddlers and 65 years and older. The Ferris wheel ride was okay, but not really worth it. Maybe it looks better at night. Their cafe did not have much of a selection of food, but they did have coffee and a variety of pastries. The surrounding area is beautiful, however.

Yelp
La Grande Roue de Montreal is Canada's tallest Ferris wheel at 200 feet (about 20 stories high). It's very similar to the Ferris wheel in Atlanta, where I'm from, because they're the same height, colored white, and each has exactly 42 climate-controlled gondolas. The manufacturers and model types are different though. Both are relatively new with Atlanta's Ferris wheel opening in 2013 and Montreal's Ferris wheel opening more recently in 2017. La Grande Roue de Montreal is located in Vieux-Port or the Old Port of Montreal, a popular tourist attraction. The Ferris wheel has good views of adjacent Old Montreal, downtown Montreal, Mount Royal, and the Saint Lawrence River. The wheel is situated directly on the river. There is plenty to see and do in the immediate area so you can definitely make a morning, afternoon, or night of your visit. The Ferris wheel itself was built on a sort of mini "island" at the port. A small park surrounds the wheel with modern and clean facilities including a restaurant, cafe and ice cream parlor, gift shop, and restrooms. We stopped and had coffee and ice cream at the cafe. The ice cream was delicious (recommended) and service was good. The Ferris wheel is open year-round, day and night, rain or shine. At the time of writing this review, tickets cost $25.00 per adult and $19.50 for students, seniors, and ages 3-17. Packages are available for families, those wanting VIP gondolas, yearly passes, and more. The ride lasts about 20 minutes. The ride was busy, but the line wasn't long during our Saturday visit around 12:30pm. Like other amusement parks, Fast Passes are available for an additional fee. You do not have to book or reserve a time in advance. Just show up and pay. Unless you purchase a private or VIP gondola, you may get put into a gondola with strangers. If you've been in one Ferris wheel, you've been in them all. The size of the Ferris wheel and views are different, of course. Nothing about La Grande Roue de Montreal significantly sets it apart from other Ferris wheel parks I've been to. The cabins are clean and comfortable with cushioned seating. After the ride, you're filtered through the gift shop and cafe for photo ops and whatnot. While I don't think La Grande Roue de Montreal is a must-do activity in Montreal, it's certainly not a bad addition to an itinerary that already includes the Old Port and Old Montreal; a plus for the city.

Yelp
Wow! This place takes the concept of a Ferris Wheel to the next level! The only previous Ferris Wheel experiences I have had were at carnivals where the seats were open cold metal benches which swung in the wind while the whole contraption vibrated with the squeal of grinding metal. It was always a fun time anyway but not anything comfortable. When I saw the price for this Ferris Wheel ride was $22.00 per person I initially balked. (That is US dollars). My husband talked me into it--"when will we ever get to do this again?"-- and let me assure you, it was worth every penny! First, the Wheel has several different stepped mounting platforms, so one stop allows people to fill a bunch of cars. Second, the cars are fully enclosed with upholstered benches, climate control, a digital display, and interior lighting! Lastly, the ride is completely quiet and smooth. It felt like we were gliding along on air. The view was unbeatable. It was truly an awesome ride!

Yelp
It was a very cold day. What to do on my vacation? I heard la grande roue is open. I was curious to try the Ferris wheel in the middle of the winter. I was freezing, when I bought my ticket; it was hard to take my debit card to pay for it. It's more funnier when you see me. Our staff for the ride was super nice. The Ferris wheel was nice and compact. The ride was 20 minutes. The view of old Montreal from the top was splendid. Two negative: first, inside my box was less cold but I was hoping it was heated. So I never had the chance to warm up. Second, for 20 minutes ride it was overpriced about 32$. But if i compare to London Eye in England, the price is acceptable. It was an amazing experience to be on the top the world to see old Montreal freezing in the cold.

Yelp
In my mind, it's a perfect night. We've come to Montreal for the fall. We've been walking around all day marveling at the old architecture and the incredible buzz. We've popped in and eaten some indulgent meals, found a delightful bakery, and stopped just once for ice cream, but twice at different chocolate shops. We're down by the water and have been enjoying a walk along the river pointing out different types of flowers and we come up the Big Wheel just as the sun is starting to sit low in the sky. Show is about to begin, so we make our way up to the wheel and board our seats. In a matter of moments, the ground becomes smaller below us and we rise -- one notch, two notches -- until we're at the apex of the wheel looking out of the clear glass windows. On one side, the St. Lawrence River glimmers with gold and amber tones reflected from the now brilliant sunset. On the other side, we see that same light illuminating the city; tall, wise old figures towering against the horizon. Trees with red and orange leaves are now ablaze and as the last light disappears we notice the warm lights now coming on all over the streets of this welcoming town. Around we go, just a few times, trying desperately to take in the beauty but knowing we have a lifetime of breathtaking moments to do it. That's what the wheel is all about. Big views, romantic evenings, memories made, and a chance to sit before going back out and finding more chocolate shops, ice cream parlors, and cheese markets. It's quick, it's expensive, but if you've decided to go to Montreal, to the river, and be together, I think you would just pay the money and have the experience.

Yelp
After a crazy adventure in the snow all over town we decided why not end it in the old port ? We were walking around and wanted to sit beside a fire to chit chat but still be outside. We saw the wheel I mean how can you miss it ? Lighting up the sky with its multicolour flashing colors we had to get a closer look. Turns out the only fire pit is at the wheel so while warming up there we decide to give it a go. Nobody was there as it was freezing out so better for us :) Purchased two tickets which was $57 the girl at the counter didn't look happy to be there but I didn't let that stop my night. We hurried to the wheel and was greeted by a nice young brunette girl where we spoke about all the different wheels we've been on like in Paris and London. She told us we would only go around 3-4 times but little did I know we would be going around 5-6. I'm not a fan of heights or rides as I got older it's something that doesn't sit well with me but this was chill. There's a light if you want to turn on your little box but it's bright so best to leave it off to enjoy the colors of Montreal night life. This fit up to 8 people which I wouldn't feel comfortable with I think 2 is more then enough. There's controls for temperature and loudness you're supposed to be able to use but it wasn't working so cold air was blowing on us. Night time is the best time to go on doesn't really matter summer or winter it's the lights you're gonna wanna see. I think it's something you do once in your life just to say hey I did it. Try it out if you're not scared :)

Yelp
Lots to do in Old Port, but one of our favorite activities is a ride on the big Ferris wheel. Temperature controlled for comfort and a smooth ride throughout, the cars are clean and you can control the music inside as well as the air conditioning or heat. The view is phenomenal and, at night the wheel is lit up in cool purple lighting. In winter months, there is ice skating and in summer, you can paddle boat on the water.

Yelp
Great view of Montréal! It wasn't busy on the spring day we decided to take a ride and we were able to go around four times and take some great photos. The speed is very slow which makes it a lot less scary and the cars are totally enclosed and environmentally controlled.

Yelp
On my recent crazy international itinerary, I was able to spend a day visiting Montreal. We were walking near the St Lawrence River and decided why not check it out. There was no line at all. This was a Tuesday morning mind you. Prices were reasonable at $25 CAD per person. The wheel is timed for twenty minutes when you get on and we were able to go around three times to see the Montreal skyline and along the St Lawrence River. The cabins were spacious and air conditioned. We were lucky and had an entire cabin to ourselves that morning otherwise, they can fit up to eight people per cabin. Overall, I was very impressed and enjoyed the experience. I would definitely do this experience again. Not having a line was a major plus for me as if this was Navy Pier in Chicago, you could wait an hour to get on the Ferris Wheel.

Yelp
Pro: great view, 20 minute ride 3 rounds, comfortable seating, temperature control Cons: no volume control. No souvenir shop, expensive (57 total for 2 people)

Yelp
All the bells and whistles Sufficient time aboard A complete experience My family and I wandered the Port area for some shopping and snacks this Sunday, and we were in a sightseeing mood. Thus, we made our way along the tracks past the Science Center to the landmark Ferris wheel, paid our tab ($55Cdn for two adults/two kids), and waited very briefly to board. Getting a group photo taken and grabbing a drink or quick food from a snack bar along the line were also options. We got what felt like ~4 rounds with some reload stops, for a total of about 18-20 minutes I think. The climate control was clearly helpful on a 29F day, and even though the wind was howling 60m up in the air as we circled, everything felt as firm and steady as you'd want - only my eager ten-year old moving around the cabin seemed to moved us at all. The view over the St. Lawrence Seaway was plentiful toward Longueuil, but the aspects back toward greater Montréal to the west were satisfying. The Olympic Stadium was in partial view, the expanse of downtown, Mont Royal, and more open terrain to the south were all clear, too. This was a nice counterpoint to having looked down on the city from Mont Royal just hours earlier. Not exceptionally cheap (and I got a parking ticket on Rue de la Commune - so do be careful with that), but it's the largest Ferris wheel in Canada. Respect!

Yelp
Pretty Amazing, I was there during August 2018. this reminds me of the wonder wheel Ferris Wheel in Coney Island - Brooklyn, New York Or very similar to the London Eye Ferris wheel in the U.K. or Place de Concorde Ferris wheel in Paris, France in the las vegas Ferris wheel (Las vegas observation wheel) or the Orlando Ferris wheel (Orlando Eye) in Orlando, Florida or the Ferris wheel in Atlanta, Georgia (Skyview Atlanta) & Myrtle beach Ferris wheel . I love it you get to see the beautiful views of Downtown Montreal has to offer . if you ever in town I definitely recommend it. I have a couple of local friends who took me out in town I definitely enjoyed myself !!!!!! P.S. the Ferris wheel talks to you in French while you're sitting down enjoying the beautiful views !!!!

Yelp
We walked to Old Montreal and stumbled upon this place! There is a Ferris wheel, a cafe, a bistro and ice skating! I ordered a caramel latte from the cafe which was fairly overpriced ($5). The ice skating was also on the expensive side because you have to buy both your skates and your rink ticket. We happened to arrive at the rink right before they cleaned the ice, so we had to wait for about 25 minutes. However, the rink itself was large and very smooth. I just wish there was more railing around the sides of the rink to hold on to. Overall, this was a super fun experience. Highly recommend making your way here when you go to Old Montreal.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the ferris wheel ride!! It was $25 per person and definitely worth it. The wheels goes for about 4 full rotations. If you are visiting for the first time, it is worth the money. The view of montreal from the ferris wheel is unbeatable! Inside the ferris wheel cabins, there is temperature control and a message system if you want to get off earlier. The ride is very stable and smooth.

Yelp
We had a great time on this, we bought our tickets on Trip Advisor and saved quite a bit! Air conditioning and super comfortable. We we're glad we spent the money.

Yelp
This was the perfect night out! Ice skating, fresh poutine made to order, and of course La Grande Roue de Montréal! The view was amazing! It gives you enough time to take pictures and enjoy the view. We got to lapse four times around in mid February. The snow that fell down around us just tied in the perfect moment in this beautiful location. The ice rink is cleaned 4 times a day so if it looks closed, they could be recreating the ice for better traction! This is a must see and do!

Yelp
They're literally not even wearing gloves here and the manager was on the phone half the time so yea take a risk if you will.

Yelp
I'd recommend spending your money on other things. For the price, it's not worth it. You can just go up the Clock Tower or perhaps hit Mount Royal.

Yelp
Views are alright as the surrounding area is mostly touristy pop up shops/entertainment. The cabin was home to many bugs, ended up getting bitten a few times.

Yelp
The Grand Wheel is in an amusement park at the harbor in Montreal. We road bikes ($5 a day) up to the park then you park the bike in the area designated for them (many around the city) and we walked into park area. There are food trucks there, my 1st time having Froie Gras Poutine (French fries with cheese curds, brown gravy and goose liver pate) it was good and on our list...we had to try! The ride ($15) is about 20 minutes going slowly around 4 times; plenty of time to take pictures and see the city from the air! This wheel is the tallest in Canada as we were told and the ride was a nice A/C'd glass enclosed vessel that can fit 6 people. Also around the park are vendors selling souvenirs and a huge pirate ship for kids to climb all over it on ropes; looked like s good time for them! They had a zip line and little water boats to rent too...I'm sure many families spend a lovely day here in the summer!

Yelp
It was fun. They give you a good amount of time to take pictures. When existing the Ferris wheel there was a place to buy ice cream and desserts with seating place, but no air conditioning during summer times.

Yelp
I wasn't too excited about coming here because I knew it would be a tourist trap, however; I had to cross it off the list of things to do in Montreal. To my surprise, it was one of the most memorable parts of my trip. Even if you don't partake in all the expensive activities (zip lining, ice skating, paddle boarding, ferris wheel riding) the actual landmark is beautiful, there are couches in the center for you to chill and enjoy the views, a beautiful waterfront, an outdoor market, a bistro, and an outdoor bar. I really loved spending time here and I now say to others who might feel the way I felt... take the time to visit! It's a must see!

Yelp
The views from the top of the Ferris wheel were quite lovely and the stable cart included all the amenities you could expect and more however, this experience is a bit over priced! Almost coming to $30 will taxes. A bit disappointed we spent that much on the wheel when we were able to have an experience with an extremely nice view and get some exercise for free by just walking over the Pont Jacque Cartier (would recommend on a student budget). All in all if Ferris wheels are your thing this could be a bucket list item as it is the biggest one in Canada but if you're on more of a budget I might seek views elsewhere!

Yelp
This the best way to see Montreal from the sky. It is slow and stops so you can take great aerial photos and videos. My son who is afraid of heights enjoyed the ride. If you get there early you pay a discounted rate. But they say the night view is spectacular which is at a premium price. It would have been better if they had a recorded tour guide for each cabin.
