La Guérite Beach - St Barth

Shortly after eating here, both my cousin and I became violently ill with severe vomiting and diarrhea, consistent with food poisoning. We had both eaten the lobster. They told us that lobster was freshly caught in the sea that day. I should’ve known it was too good to be true. They must’ve not been able to store it properly. You would think if they’re charging $200 for a little piece of lobster for two people that it would be good. Our friend, who did not eat the lobster, did not get sick. What made this experience even more unacceptable was the restaurant’s response. When I contacted them to report what happened, they refused to issue a refund and instead suggested that I come back to the restaurant to eat another meal. Why would I ever go back to a restaurant that made me violently ill? That is delusional. Given what happened, this response showed a complete lack of concern for food safety or customer well-being. Food safety is a basic expectation. The illness itself was bad enough, but the refusal to take responsibility afterward was deeply disappointing. I would strongly caution others.

La Guérite Beach in St Barths is, without question, the best beach club on the island. Everything about it feels effortlessly perfect — the setting, the energy, the service, and the food. This beach restaurant is absolutely delicious and a great spot to enjoy with your family. It has a mellow vibe during the first seating, making it perfect for a relaxed meal. Afterward, you can grab some sun beds and chill by the beach, which is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel so welcome. The food is amazing—the lobster pasta is a standout, the fish is super fresh, and the crudités are crisp and refreshing. We’ve been here a few times and love it every single time. Highly recommended!

I was looking forward to going to this establishment for my birthday and I was dissapointed of the service. The food was mid - I had better.. for sure not worth the price. As for the service... I had a reservation that we made months in advance and was asked to wait with my party of 5 at the bar all cramped up with various servers/people bumping into us (embarassing) for nearly 15-20 mins maybe even longer while other groups of people walked right in and were sat immediately. I had to go back to the hostess to ask how long because it was ridiculous. It truly put a bad taste in my mouth but I tried to remain positive. When we were finally seated..we were seated away from the music - basically we were sat by the beach. Our drinks never showed up, our bottle never showed up. At this point we were so fed up and asked for our check and headed over to Nikki Beach for a better experience. It's such a beautiful place but I won't ever return.

Great food and atmosphere, but the service was disappointing. Our waiter repeatedly told us we weren’t spending enough and aggressively pushed overpriced champagne, even after we explained we don’t drink it. We were already ordering plenty of rosé magnums for our party of 10. There was a clear assumption that because we arrived by yacht, we should be buying dozens of bottles of Dom like the flashy table next to us. That kind of pressure is tacky and takes away from an otherwise fun venue.

The atmosphere is wonderful, but for the immense prices, the quality of food and service is insufficient. The meals and drinks are super expensive, but prepared unloving and the waiters are inattentive. I think if you are charging these prices, performance should be accordingly - take Dubai as an example, also very pricy but you get your money‘s worth there.

I had the most amazing 50th birthday experience at La Guerite on Thursday with my group of 20! La Guerite SAVED THE DAY! My friends and family had ferried over to St Barths with reservations at Nikki Beach but when we arrived they were not open yet and they dismissed us and told us to wait on the public beach with nowhere to sit and no water in 85 degree heat! La Guerite gladly took all 20 of us in! They provided cabanas and beach loungers for my entire group! Then they set us up with no notice and we had an amazing meal! They even had a table for our bags! The service was amazing just beyond beyond my expectations!!! We had family style service of filet sea bass, chicken, tomahawk steaks, margherita pizza, shrimp, calamari, ricotta with truffle- EVERYTHING TASTED AMAZING!!!! Then we had magnums of champagne! The staff was AMAZING! ESPECIALLY MATILDA!!!! Matilda and the team gave me the most memorable 50th birthday celebration ever! The DJ was also great! He READ THE ROOM! Love him too! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LA GUERITE!!! They were exceptional! 10/10!

La Guérite Beach aesthetics was nice and pleasing to the eye. Our service could’ve been better we noticed that the waitress brought out our bread and that’s it but for other guest around us she placed the bread and prepared the olive oil plate for them. Also we asked about beach chairs and was told they were fully booked and the only option they had available was a cabana which was 300. We wanted to enjoy the beach so we went on a purchase a cabana, because it was my friend’s birthday. We noticed that the beach beds they claimed to be fully booked that were 100 was never occupied and we were there from 12pm-5:30pm. Also after checking our bank statements they over charged us. Drinks were extremely over priced it was 25 dollars for a margarita that comes in a regular cocktail glass. My chicken was underwhelming and my zucchini side was thin raw slices. It was not sautéed and flavorful. My friend’s lobster pasta was 150 once again extremely overpriced for the portion size. I think the waitress could’ve did something nice for my friend’s birthday and for a 300 cabana it should’ve came with something.
