I’ve been coming to Zihuatanejo since 2011 and have eaten at dozens of restaurants from super high end to street corners, and this was by far the best meal I’ve ever had. The octopus starter was superb. The whole fish (red snapper) was perfectly cooked and accompanied with subtle yet delicious vegetables. My wife had the Mahi Mahi with shrimp in a corn sauce…unbelievable. Service was amazing and the desert just to die for. Reservation for our last night already made. Skip the foo foo and make a reservation here. You won’t be disappointed.

This is my third winter in Zihua. I've eaten at La Gula several times while I have been here. The service as always top notch, and the owners are wonderful people. There are many good restaurants in town, but the food is definitely exceptional at La Gula.

We had a really wonderful and special experience here. The couple who own and run the place, one the chef and the other in the dining area, were absolutely lovely and gracious. The service was excellent. Pacing was gentle but fast and respectful. Food was excellent and inventive and presentation was outstanding. Bread was provided free, prices were very good, and the location is charming and has an elevated small town atmosphere. Reminds us of hillside Italian towns on the northern Mediterranean coast. Thank you to La Gula.

Beautiful presentation and delicious food, what a treat! The staff were extremely welcoming and thoughtful. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the meal, 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

This is probabely the best place in Zihua for an outstanding dinner experience. The couple who run the place does everything to make it an unforgetable experience. The prices of the dishes aren't overpriced and the prices of the beverages are also very reasonable. The head waiter does an excelent job and the service was perfect👌 We had a cocktail, a starter, main dish and desert and a bottle of whine. I will definitely go back there very soon.

I went there for dinner and had the chef special which was excellent. The service was spot-on and the atmosphere was very nice with a cool evening breeze. Good selection of well-prepared food. You should give it a try.

We have ate at a few places in zihuatanejo and this is was the best. I don't write reviews but I felt very compelled to do so. This place offers luxurious food and service but at very good price. You could tell the owner wanted to showcase love for her guests. The Margareta was the best I've had in mexico and I have been here 3 times. The service felt like a very fine dinning experience. The food was clean and very well thought of. This chef went to school forsure. No view of the bay but with this kind of food you don't need it. I Strongly recommend this place to anybody.

We’ve eaten at La Gula in past years and enjoyed it greatly. This year not so much. The service and atmosphere were outstanding but the food was not. The sign outside the restaurant welcomes “foodies” - and our food was visually stunning, foodie-style, but tasted bland, the ingredients seemed previously frozen not fresh. It was disappointing especially in comparison to other outstanding restaurants we’ve visited in Zihua.

Yelp
We were walking by the restaurant this morning and thought it looked interesting for dinner. We came back and were really impressed. What service!!!! Great atmosphere. The food was fantastic. Before the meal they offer you warm clothes to wash your hands. There were several waiters catering to our every need. We also liked that the potions were not massive. Our youngest daughter has Down Syndrome and barely eats. The owner had his chef create a cheese quesadilla for her at no cost. SO CLASSY! This place is worth the trip and the atmosphere and service alone are worth going for. Enjoy!

Yelp
We finally made it to this restaurant after all these years going to our timeshare. My husband is a "meat" guy, he is most happy with a big hunk of grilled/barbecued meat on his plate. This trip I insisted so we went. I had a grilled fancy eggplant dish as an appetizer. For the mains he had the Special- pork medallions on mashed potatoes with a light grape sauce. Very clean tasting dish. I had the imitation crab/zucchini stuffed fish fillet(tilapia or basa) in a tasty sauce. Both are good and average portions- not big but not too small either. Service is unobtrusive and professional. Quiet relaxed ambiance throughout the whole restaurant which we really enjoyed! Total bill w/2 beers 730 pesos so I would say good value to price points. I would recommend reservations if you want to dine at 7 or 8pm.

Yelp
Food has really gone downhill. Beef and fish entrees hard to cut and chew. Used to be my favorite but not anymore. Has a nice ambiance but food takes forever and not worth the wait. Maybe the older chef is no longer cooking. Very sad. So many awesome restaurants to go to now in Zihua.

Yelp
La Gula, thank you. We were there for Christmas Eve dinner and they had a prefix meal. Not something we expected and something we delighted in! Every course was amazing and the service matched. We went away for Christmas and I didn't know how I would feel being away from my family. La Gula helped make our Christmas Eve very special. The appetizer was absolutely amazing Dash crab and shrimp stuffed avocado. Tasty with a beautiful presentation. The gnocchi with pesto was amazing and the stuffed vegetable chicken with some of the best I've ever had. The service was warm and kind and attentive. I cannot wait to return!

Yelp
La Gula ( Gluttony) was the favorite restaurant of an old friend whose family was from Zihuatanejo. Last night my husband and I finally got to try it and it was clear why it was Ralph's favorite. It is slow food, creative and excellently prepared and presented I am a vegetarian and my husband is not yet we both found it to be excellent!). The hostess and server were gracious, the pours were generous and the food was muy rico! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Don't miss this wonderful restaurant in Zihua. The service and food is impeccable. Prepare to be addressed by your name and treated like family. You'll be hard pressed to find anything better-in any city. Highly recommended!

Yelp
One of the best in Zihautanejo..fish, service and wine from Spain. Try the shells with clams/octopus and scallops...exquisite! We come here twice a year and has never disappointed.

Yelp
We have loved this little gem on the now booming Calle Adelita for years. Come here prepared to enjoy a slow, leisurely dinner on hand crafted gourmet quality twists on classic Mexican dishes and a few classics from around the world. Located on a second floor patio overlooking the hills of Zihuatanejo, the owner Rosy has created a welcoming and comfortable place for you to dine. The menu had a fairly wide range of selections and the chef has accommodates special requests when we have had them. They have a full bar and a small but decent list of wines. We started this time with Empamades Griollas stuffed with Oaxacan cheese and shrimp served over a pool of sauce made from Pineapple and ginger. The sweet sauce worked well with the savory and slightly spicy Empamadas. We split the Ensalada del Palamar. Hearts of palm, coconut, and lettuce with a creamy dull dressing. Nice and refreshing. My wife had the Thai Shrimp over red curry rice. The shrimp were tasty and the sauce had a nice late heat that we loved. I had the Tres Deseos which was medallions of steak and chicken and shrimp over a roasted potato. Each had a different sauce that all worked well together. The steak was medium rare as requested. Fried leeks were a nice crunchy add on that didn't work as well. Overall a very good meal at a bargain of a price. Very nice semi formal service from both waiters completed the meal. We will be back this week. You should come here too

Yelp
This was our first time here after walking by this restaurant in past years. Very peaceful and great atmosphere. Wonderful service and nice menu. More wine choices then usual. I had coconut shrimp with a wonderful sauce. Nice salad choices, I had arugula with roasted pear. A definite repeat restaurant.

Yelp
Wonderful upscale eatery in Zihua. Fish is fresh and excellent. Presentation is fabulous. Definately worth a visit.
