La Joya Balangan Resort

We booked a standard bungalow and were very happy. It was very private, had our own courtyard. The next day we were upgraded to a deluxe bungalow. This bungalow was beautiful and overlooked the pool area. Breakfast & dinner was with fresh ingredients and was also very tasty. Staff were very polite & welcoming. Communication with the resort was easy and they arranged the hotel transfers to and from the airport. We will definitely stay again.

This is a lovely resort with the most amazing customer service. The resort very kindly allowed me to check in early and change rooms They also made me a Gluten Free breakfast box as I was leaving early for the airport. The pools, grounds and rooms are wonderful and are ideal for family, couples and anyone wanting a relaxing stay. As a solo traveller I would have preferred to be a bit closer to restaurants etc but still a great stay.

The rooms of this hotel are highly impractical. I booked this property because I had stayed at La Cabane, one of the La Joya properties, about seven years ago for my honeymoon and the experience back then was genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, La Joya Balangan Bali is a complete contrast to that memory and feels highly mismanaged. The rooms are very small, and the door frames are unusually low, so much so that I kept banging my head on the door borders repeatedly during the stay. The bathroom setup is also poorly thought through. There is only a curtain, and the toilet is placed inside a cramped, storeroom-like space with no proper ventilation or jets, which feels uncomfortable and inconvenient. Hygiene is a serious concern. The bed was infested with red ants, and there were also mosquitoes and ants in the room, making it very difficult to sleep peacefully. The property is also highly overpriced for the quality and services offered. Breakfast is not a buffet; instead, you are limited to choosing only five items, which must be ordered in advance when you arrive at the restaurant. The swimming pool is in poor condition, with tiles chipping off and overall maintenance clearly lacking. Overall, considering the impractical rooms, hygiene issues, poor maintenance, and the price being charged, this stay was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend anyone to book this property, especially if you’re expecting the quality associated with La Joya’s older properties.

We visited twice for food whilst we were staying nearby. The staff were friendly incredibly welcoming, friendly and happy! The food was good, we had pizza on the first night and then Indonesian lemongrass curry on the second which was delicious. The setting was beautiful, we would definitely recommend and hope we can stay there in the future too! Thank you.

We loved this hotel. Lovely small resort with beautiful spacious bungalows with your own little garden. Grounds are lovely green and it has a great view to the ocean and easy and to the beach with lots of lovely, basic, warungs.

Be careful here. There are some lovely villas at La Joya but beware of the so called, Family Rooms, in particular numbers 24 and 25. They are definitely not worth the money. They are accessed by steep stairs both to the room itself and internally to the children’s quarters. They are extremely cramped, with hardly any floor space to stow bags. The bathroom does not have a proper window - just a wooden shutter that doesn’t close properly. Compared to the other rooms in the resort, these in particular are run-down and a little decrepit. It was very disappointing as we could see plenty of other rooms vacant but were not given the option to change. We enjoyed the pool, the roaming cows and the beautiful gardens. It was just a shame about the expensive and very disappointing room.

Loved our stay at La Joya. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Location is a bit out of the way but worth it for the sunset views. Very easy to order a grab to Uluwatu if you want to explore.

We had the big 3 bedroom villa overlooking the ocean with your own personal pool, wow what a place to stay.|Great restaurant or eat in your villa with room service. The staff were very polite and helpful, they were pleased to assist and make your stay pleasurable.|Quite location with beach, great surf for board riders.
