The rooms of this hotel are highly impractical.
I booked this property because I had stayed at La Cabane, one of the La Joya properties, about seven years ago for my honeymoon and the experience back then was genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, La Joya Balangan Bali is a complete contrast to that memory and feels highly mismanaged.
The rooms are very small, and the door frames are unusually low, so much so that I kept banging my head on the door borders repeatedly during the stay. The bathroom setup is also poorly thought through. There is only a curtain, and the toilet is placed inside a cramped, storeroom-like space with no proper ventilation or jets, which feels uncomfortable and inconvenient.
Hygiene is a serious concern. The bed was infested with red ants, and there were also mosquitoes and ants in the room, making it very difficult to sleep peacefully.
The property is also highly overpriced for the quality and services offered. Breakfast is not a buffet; instead, you are limited to choosing only five items, which must be ordered in advance when you arrive at the restaurant. The swimming pool is in poor condition, with tiles chipping off and overall maintenance clearly lacking.
Overall, considering the impractical rooms, hygiene issues, poor maintenance, and the price being charged, this stay was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend anyone to book this property, especially if you’re expecting the quality associated with La Joya’s older properties.
