(Sunday market for antiques)

Mexico City
La Lagunilla Sunday Antiques Market

La Lagunilla on a Sunday is one of those Mexico City experiences you don’t forget. It’s sprawling, chaotic, and packed with everything from antique furniture and vintage clothing to rare vinyl, oddities, and more than a few treasures you didn’t know you needed. We ended up buying a really great camera here, the kind of unexpected find that makes digging through stalls so worthwhile. You can spend hours wandering, bargaining, and people-watching—the sheer variety is overwhelming in the best way. That said, it sits right next to Tepito, a neighborhood with a rougher reputation, and you definitely feel that edge as you walk through. It’s not unsafe if you’re smart, but it does feel a little dicey at times, so keep your wits about you and travel light. The food stalls are also part of the draw—authentic street bites to fuel your treasure hunting. La Lagunilla is not polished or curated; it’s raw, layered, and very Mexico City. If you’re comfortable with that, it’s a must-see and one of the most fascinating markets in the city.

Warning: this map location IS NOT the antique section!!! The antique market is about 4 blocks away on the Ave de Reforma and C. Allende. If you follow this map pin you will end up in the most chaotic part with only new junky stalls.

Probably the biggest vintage market I've ever seen. Really outstanding. Worth the long Uber ride.

Yelp
This market has practically everything that you could need. It's broken up into. Various sections such as fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood, regular sundry items for the house, and of course the restaurant section. You won't find too many different clothing options here. The restaurant section probably has about twenty five small mom-and-pop restaurants, with each one specializing in different Mexican dishes. Walking past these small restaurants definitely gave me the urge to eat something. There are also a few candy vendors, which is where I found the mazapan treat, as well as, a couple of small coconut treats. They were delicious and jist what I needed. The market is about four blocks away from Alameda and metro Hidalgo.

Yelp
Antiques, Collectibles, and good finds. Many vendors on two streets wrapped around Super Che Grocery Market. The antiques are found in an outdoor market and like others under canopy tents. Few to none are English speaking but it is easy to negotiate and purchase. We bought several objects and a piece of art. Some are true antiques, vintage, and collectibles. Some are replicas and housewares type items. Very good market and worth going to spend a Sunday morning couple to few hours.

Yelp
One of my cousins/best friends introduced me to La Lagunilla on our trip to Polanco. It took quite a while to get to La Lagunilla, but sooo worth the drive out. After tons of bragging on her part, she took me specifically for the micheladas (beer cocktail with lime, hot sauce, and chili powders), but ended up having some AMAZING street tacos, too. The micheladas, however, are unforgettably the best ones I've ever had!
