Yelp
This was definitely a unique hotel. The building is a historical landmark built in the early 1600s, adorned by 106 distinctive little heads (statues of course). The interior has been renovated to look like a quaint cottage with modern touches (the hotel lobby has a modern look, but the restaurant portion and room I was in had a more cottage-y feel). It's a good place for a romantic stay.
I was in a room on the top floor that had a small balcony facing the street - pretty quiet in this part of town. The furniture was not the fanciest, but the room was cute, the bathroom amenities were nice, and I really liked their selection of complimentary soaps and lotions (Nuxe Paris brand). The hotel is gated and there is a beautiful courtyard in front of the entrance, where guests in the restaurant downstairs can sit.
The rate I got was pretty decent for the value. However, something I did not appreciate was how they were sneaky about the breakfast situation... As a way of background, for this trip I had booked nearly a dozen hotels, so it was hard for me to remember exactly which hotels included breakfast. (FYI - this one did not.) When I checked in, they gave me an overview, then casually mentioned "...And breakfast is at (so and so) AM down this corridor..." without stating the price, in a way that made me think this hotel includes breakfast with its stays... until I received the final bill upon check-out and the total ended up being $40 more than what I had expected. This took me by surprise because up to this point, every other hotel that charged breakfast would say "breakfast is at [this time and location] and it will cost $xx.xx" and every hotel I've been to that included breakfast would say what this hotel had told me.
Overall, nice hotel, but definitely be on your toes for any unexpected charges. It was definitely not a few dimes and nickels for me!
