Our daughters had given us Eurostar vouchers as a present and, with it also being my 60th birthday celebrations, we decided to take a weekend break in Lille. On the strength of Trip Adviser reviews, we booked La Maison du Champlain for two nights - and what a great decision that was! |Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for Sébastien, our host. We were able to access our suite early which was greatly appreciated as we had been up since the crack of dawn on the Saturday! The rooms were stunning - a gorgeous lounge area, beautifully decorated bedroom and modern bathroom, all with fantastic little touches, like sweets and bottles of water by the bed, a fridge, bathrobes, loads of towels and nice smelling toiletries. |Sébastien was so helpful with advising us on what to see and do whilst in Lille, including advice on the transport and places to eat. We had already planned to visit La Piscine Musee on the Sunday but he suggested we also go to La Villa Cavrois. We are so glad we did! It was stunning and we were lucky to visit on a beautiful autumnal day. Just perfect. |Breakfast at La Maison du Champlain was first rate - and Sébastien very kindly sourced gluten free bread and cakes for us as both my husband and I follow a gluten free diet. This was hugely appreciated. |All in all, our stay was outstanding in every way. Lille is a very friendly, interesting city but what made our weekend so memorable was the B and B accommodation. We would love to return one day!
