Where to Stay in Florence: The Best Neighborhoods For Your Visit

"I liked La Maison du Sage for its eclectic Art Deco design, hardwood floors and bright walls; the spacious, light-filled rooms include a minibar, flatscreen satellite TV, Nespresso machine and kettle, while the sleek, roomy bathrooms often have a bidet and walk-in shower (some have separate tubs), and the breakfast buffet is excellent with pastries, juice, eggs, ham, cheese and fresh fruit." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Florence (Updated 2025)

"Tucked just off Piazza di Santa Croce in the lively Santa Croce neighborhood, this eclectic three-star boutique feels fun and local with pastel-painted walls, interesting artwork, and cool wooden Art Deco furniture that I especially love. The excellent breakfast buffet includes pastries, juice, eggs, ham, cheese, and fresh fruit, and the spacious, naturally lit rooms have hardwood or parquet floors plus minibar, flatscreen satellite TV, Nespresso machine, and a kettle. The large bathrooms feature walk-in rainfall showers (some with a separate soaking tub), heated towel racks, and a bidet, making this a great choice if you want to stay close to the Centro Storico but experience a more local vibe and outsized value for the price." - Matthew Kepnes

The hotel room was beautiful, with a wonderful view out the windows. It’s in a great area for easy walking around the area. The room had a big comfortable bed, nice big tub and shower as well with all the basic hotel amenities. Breakfast can be scheduled the evening before. The hotel is located in the ZTL, it does not offer private parking, instead there is public parking garages around the area.

This is not just a hotel, reception greeted us in a friendly manner and our room got ready in few minutes to check-in. All the staffs are friendly and welcoming, you will feel you are in your home. Room was clean with a beautiful decorations. Breakfast was awesome and Acenzia is wonderful and caring when you have breakfast with an exceptional customer service. This hotel is a museum with plenty of places outside of room for relaxing and super close to everything in the beautiful city of Florence. We hope to have a chance to stay here again.

Quick two night stay in Florence. Location is terrific, and the welcome (glass of wine on the patio) was nice. Room was pretty spacious, but cleanliness could have been double checked (hairs, smashed mosquito on the wall). Limited staff and at times inaccessible.

My wife and I stayed here as part of our 30 year anniversary excursion. This place is a little bit different from a stereotypical hotel, but that's the part of what makes it awesome. The room was gorgeous, the service was great, particularly the young lady working the front desk who handled all of our needs. The location was right next to Santa Croce square which turned out to be particularly interesting because our time correlated with the Calicio finals (look it up; it's insane). Nothing but positive reviews.

Excellent central location, lovely views of cathedral, the room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Fixtures and furniture are a high standard. Lovely welcome from the staff who were accommodating to give us a later check out free of charge because one of us wasn't feeling well on our final day. Housekeeping team also very polite and very good at their job. Would recommend and look forward to staying again!

I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone! This is such a central place to all the top spots to see as well as for shopping. Upon arrival, hostess Daniele had us sit down and relax; she offered us some wine while she explained the check-in and check-out procedures. It was such an easy process, and the accommodations were extremely comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again and would bring more people. Thank you so much!
