The Best Affordable Hotels in Europe, According to Travel Experts

"We discovered this romantic, 39-room hotel on the edge of the Second Arrondissement while planning a trip to Paris in 2015; it’s within walking distance of the Louvre and the Tuileries, and I loved fueling up on fresh croissants and strong coffee in the breakfast room and returning to the convivial atmosphere, complimentary evening snacks, and honor bar after long days of sightseeing." - Travel + Leisure Editors Travel + Leisure Editors Since 1971, Travel + Leisure editors have followed one mission: to inform, inspire, and guide travelers to have deeper, more meaningful experiences. La Maison Favart, a Design Boutique Hotel Paris, France

"The historical and striking La Maison Favart is situated on a quiet street just off the famous Boulevards which are perfect for admiring grand architecture, shopping, and sitting in one of the many typically Parisian café’s and restaurants, sipping wine and watching the world go by. The hotels design stays true to its 18th Century roots, grand and theatrical rooms are decorated in royal blues and ruby reds, they are both historical and stylish yet also have a sense of fun. The hotel is themed around the famous love story of Charles-Simon FAVART, director of the Comic Opera, and the glamorous and youthful Justine DURONCERAY whose stage name was “Mademoiselle CHANTILLY.” The hotel captures the couple’s love of theatre in its ornate and opulent style. The hotel offers a 24 hour conciergerie service, a luggage room, free WiFi a cineclub and a relaxed honesty bar. You can also dine in style in the gorgeous, light and airy breakfast rooms with touches of pink and gold, and floor to ceiling windows that flood it with light and will make you feel refreshed and energised to start your day. A sauna and fitness room is also on hand and, if you are feeling truly indulgent, head to the amazing Bathroom -a tranquil cavernous pool where you can soak in the warm water, and truly get away from it all." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Me and my girlfriend had an absolutely amazing stay. The hotel is in a nice area of the city and you feel safe getting back in the evening. It was my girlfriends’ birthday and they had decorated the room beautifully with rose petals and balloons. During the stay they checked with me if we liked the decorations and were extremely considerate. The staff of the hotel is very friendly and understanding. They go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We had lost track of time as we had to check out and were late. A member of the staff called us to check if they could help us with anything and reassured that it is no problem that we are late, just wanted to lend a hand in making everything smooth during the check out. The room is what you expect in a 4-star hotel in Paris. Relatively stylish Parisian rooms with a very nice bathroom. All in all, this was an enjoyable and very comfortable stay with friendly staff always at your disposal. I would say this is a very good 4 star hotel with 5 star service.

I had looked forward to visiting Paris for 35 years, excited to experience the culture and meet the local people. Unfortunately, my experience began on a disappointing note at the hotel lobby upon my arrival. I checked in on October 22, 2025, at approximately 1 AM after a grueling 15-hour flight. While I was tired, I was also eager to start my Parisian adventure. Regrettably, the gentleman at the front desk did not treat my fiancé and me with the courtesy we expected. He insisted on charging a deposit of over $1,500. Despite my attempts to explain that we had already made a reservation and paid in full, he refused to listen. In an effort to resolve the situation, I contacted Booking.com, who then reached out to the hotel to clarify the issue. Unfortunately, the front desk employee hung up on their agent, stating that he was too busy and needed to eat. Given the amount we spent for our four-night stay, I expected a higher standard of customer service. I pride myself on being respectful, and I was profoundly disappointed by the treatment we received. I hope that the hotel staff can reflect on this experience to improve their service in the future.

Great hotel. This was our second stay. Rooms are clean and modern and very quiet. No view but I would take quiet over a view as I'm a light sleeper. The location is excellent and close to a Metro station. We booked a classic room. My only complaint, which has already been stated by others, the rooms are crazy small. It's ridiculously tight for 2 people and especially if you have 2 suitcases that are on the larger side. There's minimal room to hang clothes and no place to put toiletries. If you're one person traveling, the room would likely be a good choice. We went in September when rates were already high for a classic room so we weren't really interested in spending more for a larger room. We didn't opt for breakfast at the hotel because there's lots of good options nearby that are less expensive. The hotel has a small pool, workout room and spa! Other than the room size it's pretty darn perfect! I'd recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris and looking for a charming boutique hotel.

Our stay at La Maison Favart was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. ||Freddy was exceptional — he greeted us warmly at check-in, made us feel instantly welcome, and even walked us personally to our room, taking the time to explain everything and ensure we had everything we needed. His professionalism and kindness really set the tone for our stay. ||Maci was equally lovely — attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. ||The hotel itself is luxurious, elegant, and extremely comfortable, with thoughtful touches everywhere. The location couldn’t be better — perfectly situated for exploring Paris while still feeling calm and private. ||We couldn’t have asked for more. Would 100% recommend La Maison Favart to anyone visiting Paris!

We were extremely pleased with everything . Staff were amazing particularly Borris and Freddy who made some great recommendations and booked for us. The hotel was so clean and classy and everything of top quality. The breakfast was really nice with good choice. It had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and all staff were so helpful. The location was also perfect. We will definitely stay again.

What a truly lovely hotel. Had a 2 night stay here with my wife and loved it. Totally unpretentious, just a nice, comfortable hotel in a great position. We were bed and breakfast and the breakfast was spot on. The best thing is the staff, all so friendly and helpful. Special mention to Freddy from Dominican Republic that knows every bus and train route in Paris. If we come to Paris again we will stay here

Overall, we had a lovely stay. The neighborhood is peaceful, safe, and definitely lots of good eats nearby. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant vibes.||The hotel breakfast and complementary beverages throughout the day were an excellent touch. ||The hotel does come with a spa that’s easy to book with the reception. The spa is rather small though, and I do wish the pool was a Jacuzzi and the sauna could be hotter.

Our room(s) were gorgeous and perfectly appointed. The staff was exceptional and so accommodating! The location is close to the Metro and lots of good restaurants. Don't miss the spa! It had a small water massage table and a small pool - perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing!

Yelp
La Maison Favart is an exceptional boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Paris in the 2nd district. it is across from the Opera Comique and it's beautiful courtyard. although the hotel is in a busy are near the Metro, it is on a quiet side street so it is quite peaceful The hotel is decorated beautifully with no detail missed. the lobby is gorgeous and is the breakfast room. our two bedrooms booked each had tall ceilings and were each uniquely decorated but still maintaining the style of the hotel i truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it

Yelp
Stayed here during my trip to Paris. Very nice boutique hotel that looks just as advertised! Nice and friendly doormen as well. Pool was beautiful!

Yelp
Beautifully decorated hotel with an 18/19th century flair. At first glance in the lobby, the hotel is decorated tastefully with plush velvet seating and a tea room style salon area for breakfast. The room upstairs was a bit smaller than expected, which did dampen things at first. However the clean sheets, complimentary coffee and tea, strong water pressure, and the uber amazing heated towel rack really turned things around. The hotel even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne and a WiFi hotspot to travel Paris with (since we stayed for a week). Location is off the Main Street, but still very close to the busy areas and near subway stops. If you don't speak French, the concierge can help you make reservations for restaurants or museums or other activities. Checkout was easy, and calling a cab via the concierge was a piece of cake. Overall, a lovely experience that I would highly recommend anyone else to try. I know I'll be coming back to this hotel soon.

Yelp
I love La Maison Favart for many reasons: the room is clean, the shower stall is high and water pressure is strong, the staff are wonderful, the location is quiet but only a short distance to the hustle and bustle areas, and they have a free massage bed in the wellness center. This is just one of the many 5-star reviews so it may get lost in the mix but regardless, this hotel deserves another 5-star review. Would definitely come back. Would definitely recommend this to friends and fam.

Yelp
I mayyyyy or may not be ever so slightly bias because I would love the accomodations on a sidewalk in Paris, if it meant I'd be sleeping in Paris, LOL. All joking aside - La Maison Favart did not disappoint! We only stayed here one night, since we weren't sure that we'd stay the extra day in Paris, and I am SO glad we did. We'd stayed in a gorgeous Air BnB right across from Jardin de Tuileries for the entire week - so I worried that this would not compare, but truth be told - it was beautiful. Our suite was very roomy, for european standards, and I regret that we did not have time to try the breakfast. I love the traditional french decor, throughout! The location was wonderful too! We were able to walk everywhere, with ease. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Paris, who wants to enjoy the convenience of staying at a hotel!

Yelp
Great boutique hotel. Would highly recommend. My run down: Pros: - Nestled on a quiet side street off a Main Street and lively street in Paris - Friendly - Boutique hotel and the decor was beautiful - Loved the "honesty bar" which was a serve yourself and write down what you took to be charged at the end of the night. We partook each night when we were there. - The concierge was friendly. - Water pressure on the shower - Heated towel rack. Not necessary but was soooo nice to have. Mixed: - Smaller sized rooms, but I we picked a small room since we were moving around town. Wish I had known: - About the opera being across the street. Would have definitely loved to see a show.

Yelp
Robes, fuzzy slippers, shower with awesome water pressure! Carpeted! TV, honors Area with champagne in lounge lobby, I think I found one of the little gems of Boutique hotels in Paris! And David the staff running the place tonight speaks awesome Conversational English. Gots cute complementary book at check-in too! Well appointed! With Safe and mini bar in room. It small compared to Vegas Vdara standards, but it works with almost everything I need. Real cotton swabs that don't bend, scale to weigh yourself (or your suitcase with wine), comfy pillows! Decor is Haute French Classical New Shabby Chic... even has a pool! The soaps lotions and potions are lovely scented. Besides the tv in the room, I don't see any usb outlets. So I'm using the converter for my iPhone usb plug and the tv for my batter bank so now I can charge 2 usb item at the same time. Real hangers that come off the the rod, and hair dryer. 2 chairs, 2 layout area for your stuff, a bookshelf, and wait..... is that a shoe rack I see in my wardrobe? Why yes! First I've seen I a hotel on my 17 day France trip (I've stayed at 7 different hotels). There is a pool! 7am-10pm. Will check it out tomorrow morning! Close to K-Mart the Korean market just 6 blocks down the street!

Yelp
This hotel was recommended my a local friend and we were not disappointed. During our 12 day trip, we stayed here twice and both occasions the service and rooms were great. Room #45 is a bit small, but #54 was much bigger with a tub. There is an honor system when using the cafe downstairs in the afternoon and evenings. Complete the form with your items and drop off at the front desk. Breakfast is served for a price. We ended up at Costa Coffee around the corner It was centrally located with easy waking distance to all the sights. Some great markets and shopping in the area. Nice fresh market with fruit near by as well. The local cafes and restaurants were perfect for a cocktail or beer after a long day. The prices in the area are a bit high probably because of the tourist area. I would highly recommend this location and select to stay here again on future trips. Enjoy!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay here in May. It's a nice little boutique hotel with plenty of class The staff is very nice and accommodating, and they all speak English very fluently. Breakfast is fantastic! Food was so good overall. The location is super convenient and close to the metro, coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, and all of the main Parisian attractions, really! We spent very little time getting to places. Te concierge is happy to help you plan your day. Best thing about European hotels vs American is that they really love up to their star rating and there aren't any hidden fees. We will be back!!

Yelp
Stayed at La Maison Favart for two nights while in Paris. The room was very comfortable and the staff was very attentive. They did a full cleaning every day instead of just turn down service. The location was great. Very close to metro stops, which made it easy to get all over the city.

Yelp
Wonderful property tucked into a quiet street in Paris within walking distance of many of the top sites. Easy place to also hop in an Uber for access to the sites outside of Paris such as Versailles. Our room was beautiful and spotless. Housekeeping did such an Amazon job. We were in La Petite Masion which is a small apartment connected to the hotel. We are a family of five and were exceptionally comfortable in our well appointed room. What a great escape this made after long days of museums, shopping and site seeing. The staff was simply wonderful. A special thanks to Louise, Freddy, and Axel who made our stay so much better. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Paris! Additionally, it is close to a small market and has a little authentic French bakery next door at which we obtained many delightfully delicious items. Many delightful, local restaurants are also within blocks. If you are looking for the most amazing French boutique hotel you should choose to stay with La Masion Favart. You will be very happy with your decision!

Yelp
Great service, quality everything in the room. Gave us a $75 bottle of champagne to say "thank you" for our one-night stay (what?). Paid on CC points so I'm not sure what $$ value was. Bookings.com says $319, which feels like a deal for all this value. Kinda wish this wasn't the last night of vacation :(

Yelp
My partner and I stayed here a few weeks ago for our first trip to Paris. This hotel deserves all of the 5 star reviews it has. The staff was so helpful and friendly! They went out of their way to assist us on multiple occasions. Our room was beautiful, clean, and had a small patio attached to it. We loved sitting there in the mornings while enjoying coffee and croissants. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious and had so many options. I would definitely recommend adding it on to your reservation. We truly cannot wait to come back to La Maison Favart. It was a wonderful experience. We only wish that we had the chance to use the spa/sauna! We were so busy running around all of Paris that we sadly did not get a chance to even see it.

Yelp
From the moment you walk into this hotel you are welcomed and feel at home. Although the hotel itself is gorgeous, the staff really set La Maison Favart apart from the rest. This was the second hotel we stayed in for our trip to experience different areas of Paris. The service here is warm and generous, and the staff speak to you with respect and interest. The decor of this hotel and spa is outstanding and makes me want to repaint my own home in warm and inviting colors. The breakfast was delicious. Thank you La Maison Favart!

Yelp
This place is simply fantastic. Everyone from the receptionists, concierge to the men working the breakfast buffet to the people cleaning the rooms were phenomenal and a great start to a vacation in Paris. I was so impressed by how kind and helpful everyone was and I felt true sense of Paris's charm here. If you're looking for a top hotel, look no further. The rooms may be a tad small but cozy and intimate. Breakfast was fantastic. The service was top notch!

Yelp
We found La Maison Favart on Hotels.com and got an incredible rate on two rooms for five nights. We were pleasantly surprised at the convenience of the location (walking distance to the Louvre, two metro stops within half a block, and a cute little market with hot food). The service is spectacular -- rooms are cleaned and restocked twice a day, all of the staff is incredibly friendly, and the concierge is available to help with any need from restaurant suggestions and directions to services within the hotel. There are great little perks, including in-room coffee pod machines, a great sitting area next to the lobby to enjoy complimentary tea or coffee along with an honesty bar treat, complimentary umbrellas (and an incredibly attentive doorman to suggest when you might carry one along), a relaxing pool (it's small, but tiled beautifully, has small water falls, adjustable lights and is just lovely to find in a Paris hotel), and great workout area to get in a quick workout while traveling. Overall, we had a wonderful stay in a truly creative space with uniquely designed rooms, excellent service, and a delightfully Parisian hotel.

Yelp
WE LOVED OUR STAY! Definitely coming back. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Area is ideal. Arrived at 10am and our room was ready. Enjoyed a light but delicious breakfast here. Boris the butler was so nice. Our room was 26 (Pink room) nice and clean.

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel with clean rooms and helpful staff.

Yelp
Excellent room, service is top notch, only 4 rooms per floor, great location, highly recommend staying here when you go to Paris. Close enough to the main city attractions to walk, great restaurants everywhere, and the room itself is very comfortable.

Yelp
We stayed at La Maison Favart last month for a portion of our honeymoon. The hotel's location is terrific, and the staff was both professional and friendly. Our room wasn't huge, but it was more than adequate for our needs and nicely decorated.
