My partner and I chose this bed and breakfast from our Babymoon. I found it through TripAdvisor. To say the least, we were not disappointed! We're from Lafayette, Louisiana so we didn't get to La Maison until about 10pm on Friday. They provided entry instructions a few days in advanced via email so we knew exactly what to do in the event no one could greet us when we got there. Parking was a bit confusing at first. The front door faces Drew street and the parking lot is a small lot behind the building off Brazos. It was late and dark, so it took us a few roundabout trips but we found it. Other than our laughable confusion, entry was super easy.
The facility is four stories. Our room was on the 3rd floor. To this pregnant lady's surprise, there was an elevator! After a long drive, I was super happy I did not have to take the stairs.
Our room was absolutely stunning! (303B) We had a king size bed with a walk in shower. Fresh towels. Soft robes. This room can also be extended into a suite but it felt it wasn't necessary for just the two of us. (For what I hear, the extended suite has a big bathtub, great for soaking the stress away.) Everything was exactly where you could find it. They provide a binder with all the answers to your questions. Also, complimentary coffee, tea and water were available on the 2nd floor.
In the morning, the owners (either Ms. Sharon or Ms. Genora) were personally there along with Mr. Matt to greet us and they made a delicious homemade breakfast with your choice of fresh juice and coffee. As we are still in the mist of COVID, everyone wore a mask and the tables were spaced apart to allow for the appropriate amount of social distancing.
La Maison is conveniently located. Our itinerary included the Houston Zoo and the Museum of Natural Science. Travel time was roughly 10-15 mins. from the facility. There are divine restaurants in all directions. It was nothing after a long day to go back to our room, nap, refresh and go back out for dinner.
We left Sunday after breakfast. Check out was just as simple as check in.
Seriously, the next time we are in Houston for the weekend, we will be staying at the La Maison in Midtown. It was a bit pricier than the surrounding hotels but honestly it was just a beautiful location with an overall top-rated experience. I did not mind spending a few extra pennies. Other than that, I really don't think I have anything negative to say of our stay.
One thing, as we were really only there for the weekend, our days were pretty booked. We sadly did not get to participate in the afternoon tea. We will definitely take them up on it next time.
Thank you, Ms. Sharon and Ms. Genora for a wonderful experience! :)
