"High Notes In 2011, the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, founded in 1934, held its first concert in its new home, La Maison Symphonique de Montréal. The soaring building of glass and beech was designed by architect Jack Diamond and is now an anchor of the Place des Arts, the cultural heart of the city. Since Kent Nagano became the musical director in 2006, following his success in Germany , the symphony has become one of the most closely followed classical institutions in North America. While most of the symphony’s 100 or so concerts each year are held at the Maison, visitors to Montréal can also see them at the Notre-Dame Basilica and at outdoor concerts in the city’s parks in warmer months. La Maison Symphonique in Montreal, an architectural marvel and a sanctuary for the arts, stands as a beacon of romance and grace. On two unforgettable nights, the unfathomable beauty of its acoustics played host to the soul-stirring melodies of Wynton Marsalis and Chris Botti, etching indelible memories into the heart. Under the glittering lights and adorned with intricate woodwork, the first evening with Wynton Marsalis was an enchanting affair. As the famed trumpeter graced the stage, each note danced through the air, resonating with the grandeur of the venue. The soothing jazz enveloped the room, creating an intimate atmosphere where every soul was serenaded by the pure genius of Marsalis's improvisation. His trumpet sang like a sweet serenade, weaving stories of love, longing, and joy. The vibrant symphony of brass and strings, paired with the gentle rustle of the audience's breath, evoked a feeling akin to witnessing a classical romance unfold. On a different star-kissed evening, Chris Botti took the stage, imbuing the room with a different kind of magic. His trumpet played with the elegance of a whispered promise, each note a sonnet of passion and tranquility. The warmth of Botti's melodies enveloped the audience, creating a canopy of sound that felt both tender and exhilarating. The allure of jazz and the mystical ambiance of La Maison Symphonique combined to create a spellbinding experience, like a waltz under the stars where time seemed to stand still. Together, these evenings at La Maison Symphonique became a symphony of the heart, a romantic odyssey that celebrated the richness of live music and the artistry of two stellar musicians. In this sanctuary, love was not just heard but felt, each note and rhythm echoing like a lover's gentle touch, leaving the heart yearning for more.

I’m not very musically inclined, so I wouldn’t normally spend $100+ on a show here. However, I got a free ticket as part of a festival and decided to check it out. Unfortunately, the performance was underwhelming—perhaps that’s why it was offered for free. To make matters worse, the staff were extremely rude when I was taking pictures after the show, rushing people out. With lackluster performances and poor customer service, I’m not sure how long they plan to sustain this. Best wishes

Exceptional hall, bit it's freeeeezzzing, I kept wishing the whole time for a duvet. I recommend rows A and B, not AA, that's very close and your neck will hurt, if you have no choice then take, but best row is A and B.

Beautiful majestic concert hall at the center of downtown Montreal. Love the design of the venue and very clean acoustics. Comfy seats too! Check out the organ and the octobasse at the 2nd floor, it’s quite unique.

A very attractive venue. Good sound even with very close to stage seats. Nice ensemble playing in the foyer pre- concert.

Beautiful building. Great accessibility. Acoustics are utterly amazing. You need to attend a symphony at this place to appreciate it.

Amazing acoustics , comfy spacious seating, and lovely decor. Need more staff during intermission at the bar. I waited in line for 20 minutes without getting to bar....if I had made it, could not possibly have had time to drink my glass of wine. Cannot bring drinks inside.
