How Valmont Cosmetics Became One of the Most Luxurious Hotel Amenities in the World

"Spa Valmont at Le Meurice is where I tried the pièce de résistance of spa treatments worth traveling for: the 90-minute Majestic facial, which costs $450 and incorporates a finely honed sculpting massage and three face masks, including the penultimate collagen mask." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Yelp
What an honor to be able to stay at this magnificent hotel. The attention to detail is apparent the moment we pulled in. This beautiful hotel has been here since 1835 in the heart of historic Paris. The hotel faces Tuileries Garden and the Louvre museum, and is just around the corner from luxury experiences at Place Vendôme and the Saint-Honoré area. There is romance in the air as you stroll through the garden. You see couples holding hands, kissing, smiling and intimately sitting with one another as they are deep in conversation. There all types of luxury shops within walking distance from this hotel. We sat and had desserts and tea in their beautiful breakfast room. It is a royal experience and a good way to decompress. We had their famous hot chocolate, it was like drinking pure chocolate. It is delicious, however you won't be able to have very much because it is so rich in flavor. We had the rum cake, chocolate mousse and Cédric's famous pain au chocolate. All were devine. You must like rum if you are going to have the glazed rum cake. It's super strong. In the evening be sure to have a beverage at Bar 228 located in the hotel. They have mock tails and cocktails with once again another beautiful ambient experience. There are well known people also enjoying this space, so don't hesitate to lol around to see who else is enjoying this lovely bar. We also had the pleasure of having our dinner in the dining room, which again was another beautiful room. From the floor to the ceiling there is so much history and elegance to take in. We were here when it was fashion week, so there were plenty of photographers utilizing the space for capturing timeless photos of models in gorgeous gowns. The room, bed and again ... attention to detail did not go unnoticed. The bedding was perfect for relaxation, the sitting area as well, and the bathroom was well maintained too. We had showered and left the room, and when we came back we found all mats, and towels were already replaced to fresh ones. The team members throughout this gorgeous historic place were all over the top with ensuring we were happy and enjoying every moment of our stay. I was so happy to be introduced to this hotel, and most definitely will stay here again. Merci~K

Yelp
I could not have been treated more disrespectfully. Begining with the door service, continuing with someone very rude whose name was Lilian and, finally, with a female manager whose name I did not get, I was treated quite poorly. It was made clear to me that they have no interest or need in providing service to me. I explained to the manager that a complaint is a gift- an opportunity to make things right. She had no interest. How this level of service is acceptable is perplexing at this type of establishment. Needless to say, I am offended and disgusted. Will spend my money elsewhere and encourage others to do the same.

Yelp
This was the highlight of my trip to France. The ambiance - you truly feel like you're dining in a one of a kind place. You can tell everyone is having an amazing time and that energy radiates. I loved that one of the cooks (I believe maybe the sous chef) came out of the back of the house to ask about our dining experience. It felt like they truly cared about my experience here. The actual Restaurant- Spectacular doesn't even cover it. There are no words on how beautiful this restaurant really is. The vegetables laid out on the table was a great touch, I loved that they showcase what they use to cook. The carts going around the tables was a fun sight to see - if we wanted more bread, cheese, or wine it was just within arms reach if needed. Food - impeccable taste, one of a kind presentation & completely customizable. From the moment we started ordering out waiter let us know that our dishes can be modified to fit our needs (if we wanted a vegan option, we could add truffles to any dish, and obvs if we were allergic to a certain ingredient they could opt it out or replace it with something else). I also loved the pallet cleansers they gave us in-between meals - the hot broth was the most unique but the oysters with kiwi will be my absolute favorite. Waiters/staff - I saved the best for last. Very charismatic, personable & easy to talk to. I never felt out of place - when I talked to some of the staff they were so nice to me and gave me some great tips for my vacation. It truly felt like I was talking to friends! This is a once in a lifetime type of dining experience. If you have the opportunity (and time) definitely make your reservation. Side note: They only book one table seating so don't rush through the meal - this experience took 4 hours, we were seated at 7 and left around 11ish... As mentioned this is an experience and you should definetily take your time with it.

Yelp
We came here for high tea and were treated like royalty. The finger sandwiches and dessert pastries were excellent. The scones were a bit too heavy and dense. Not in the normal, flat shape but more like cupcakes. We had plenty to eat and our waiter kindly suggested we take our leftovers and brought us boxes for them. As a side note: visit the washroom! Electronic sensor toilets! Squirt water & blow dry!

Susie C.

Yelp
The fine dining experience was great. They take your coat off at the concierge and store in a secure place. You pay for the luxurious atmosphere and service here. The food is amazing and nicely plated and decorated. I cannot wait to try more Alain Ducasse's Michelin restaurants when I visit Paris again. Highly recommend.

Yelp
really enjoyed being a guest there. Especially when most hotels were closed in Paris. Amazing staff Also enjoyed room service . Don't forget the deserts from one of the most talented pastries Chef

Yelp
One of the best restaurant in the world's Michelin restaurants. A heavy weight with location, decor, service and off course the best food!! Le grand chef Alain Ducasse must try on life's big occasions or just because! Five stars are evidently a figurative number since at this level the comparison is senseless.

Yelp
This is one of the top hotels in Paris. Not only a great location but the service and quality is phenomenal! Every staff member paid spectacular attention to detail and was very friendly. Many went out of their way to take care of any request. The food and beverage selections were out of this world! Bravo to the staff for an outstanding job.

Yelp
First time satiating at Le Meurice. Concierge staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Love the quiet bar. Lots of lobby areas for coffee, drinks and for work. Will be back

L T.

Yelp
Good location but not worth over 2k a night in my opinion. Stay wasn't bad, felt clean enough for Paris . Food mediocre. Service was good though. Skip the afternoon tea is awful. Breakfast was ok. Worst crepes i had though. Poor coffee quality. Get coffee from the off white store around corner instead.

Yelp
It's impossible for me to think of my night at the bar at the Hôtel Meurice without thinking of the wacky adventure we took to get there. After a very late dinner at Les Fines Gueules (where we were not seated until 23:00; Kanye West and his entourage foiled our plans -- I blame the mens couture shows) we hailed a cab and in the front seat next to the female driver sat a regal doberman. As her master drove us to Hôtel Meurice, the dog's paw rested gently upon the driver's shoulder, her head back so we could pet her. I suspect this dog gets quite a lot of love whilst riding through the streets of Paris. I can only imagine the stories s/he could tell! If you feel like going back in time (à la Midnight in Paris) Hôtel Meurice is a great place to do it. We swilled ridiculously good red wine and cocktails here and stayed until the small hours of the morning. I have a friend (with whom the red wine was drunk) who never comes to Paris without a stop at Hôtel Meurice for a drink. Having now been there myself I can see why.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie. This place is expensive. I'm not sure paying $1000/night is worth it but I'll be honest, it will be one of the prettiest hotels in Paris that you will ever see. This place has opulence and grand luxury written all over it. It seems a little over-the-top with the 18th-century baroque-esque and old world decor but you can almost feel like you've been warped back in time. It's a beautiful hotel indeed with a very rich historical background dating back to the 1700's. It's also a nice place to meet and have drinks with your friends while live piano is playing. The bed was really comfortable with nice high-quality sheets and fluffy pillows! I knocked off 1 star because wifi is not complimentary. For a 5-star hotel, free wifi would have been nice. Also there is no pool or jacuzzi.

Yelp
Combining exceptional 18th century opulence with contemporary chic, Le Meurice embodies the perfect French palace hotel. Located between Place de la Concorde and the Louvre, Le Meurice is ideally located for a range of activities, whether you're after fine dining and shopping or simply want to explore the city of romance and culture.

Yelp
I did not stay here overnight, but I did spend a day here in various meetings and meals. The location is prime and the setting old world fancy schmancy. A bit too much gold and crystal for my taste, but Donald Trump would love it. I would think its a nice place to come for lunch or a glass of wine, then move on to something a bit more accessible. The food was fine, nothing memorable for France though.

Yelp
This is a review for Bar 228 inside the hotel, redesigned by Philippe Starck. . The bar is replete with deep leather armchairs, trompe l'oeil ceilings, velvet drapes and a feeling that I'm in an English country house library or smoking room. The baroque decoration of the rest of the hotel is very old world decor and classy. I ordered the chocolate chaud and it was not too sweet and decadent. SO had a martini that was actually named after one of the bartenders who came over and introduced himself, a grandfather type who was warm, engaging, with a hint of sauciness underneath - you can tell he has served lots of celebrities and knows all their secrets too. I'm knocking a star off because our server forgot to put in one of the items we ordered, but the ambiance, setting and great drinks made up for it.

Yelp
Perfect for a romantic evening. Enjoy a glass of champagne while listening to pianist in this elegant bar room.

Yelp
This is a fantastic old world hotel located in an excellent location in the heart of Paris. Just blocks from the best designer stores as well as the Louvre, there is nothing more to want in terms of a starting point to explore Paris. The lobby is grand and beautiful combining old world and new world as it was recently renovated by Phillipe Stark. Our room was old but tasteful with new bathrooms and very cool plasma tvs in frames that look like mirrors when they are off. My only complaint was that our room had no view at all. We were literally looking at the roof of the hotel. Service was good but a little slow. I think that is a quality of France in general and just a difference of style from the US. The lobby restaurant Le Dali is a lively and fun place to hang out. Interesting people are coming and going. Their cocktails at the bar were quite excellent.

Yelp
Best dinner, best desert in Paris. Worth the expense. Just went around to the side street in the back and waited in line for desert. Had dinner in the dinning room last night in a beautiful room with a piano player. I will come back next trip!

Yelp
When you want to get pampered like royalty, then Le Meurice is the place to stay. You'll understand the meaning of luxury once you've stayed here. Le Meurice is a balance between ornate, old-world opulence and modern hospitality. Every little detail - from the hotel rooms, to service staff, to the in-house restaurant - exceeds your everyday expectation. When you want to find something (like a last minute Michelin 3-Star restaurant reservation), Le Meurice's knowledgeable concierge staff will make it happen. The only drawback is that Le Meurice's rooms are so amazing and comfortable, that you may never want to visit the rest of Paris. For a better idea of the hotel, just daydream over the floor plans and photos on the Le Meurice website. [Original Visit: March 25, 2009]

Yelp
Love this place. Great centralized location, exceptional service and lush, updated rooms that are the epitome of hotel luxury. Depending on when you go, they are not giving the rooms away but at least you feel you are great true value for the big bucks you are shelling out. The bathroom in our room was bigger than most rooms I have stayed in, especially by Paris hotel room standards. The bathroom itself, consisted of one large room and three smaller rooms. The furnishings were very traditional Louis XIV, but all the amenities were completely modern. The Hotel Meurice seems to be a favorite of the Middle-East crowd, lots of men dressed in suits or sheik type attire with huge entourages of people and security.

Yelp
My go to place in Paris is Le Meurice, I can count on them for the pampering that I need and expect while in the city of love. The bathroom is large, and perfect for a night of getting ready while sipping a fabulous Bordeaux. Expect nothing but the best from the staff here. Every little detail is taken care of so you do not need to worry yourself about a thing.

Yelp
What a lovely experience at Le meurice. From the moment we checked in people we extremely accommodating, our room was not available for another 20-30 minutes they invited us to their cocktail bar which was very cozy and traditional at the same time. I indulged in a hot chocolate by Alain Ducasse and it was fabulous! The room was very spacious as was the bathroom with beautiful white marble. The one thing I was not impressed with was their pillows. It was not a traditional king or standard they used square shams as pillows to sleep on and this really bothered me. Another high point about the hotel was their fabulous restaurant served in the ornate restaurant of Alan Ducasse. The ceilings were so high with beautiful moldings. They serve you tiers of French pastries as soon as you sit with an excellent selection of breakfast options. I would absolutely stay here again hopefully they would update their pillows!

Yelp
The bar here probably makes the finest martinis in Paris. They are especially good on a cold afternoon or evening when the wind is whipping down the rue de Rivoli outside. The atmosphere is warm and luxurious, and the service is perfect. During WWII, the German occupiers ran Paris from this hotel. Ten or so years later, the last German commander, von Choltitz, walked into the bar and asked to see the manager. The old bartender immediately recognized him and ran off to do his bidding. Von Choltitz asked if he could see the room where he had decided to save Paris from Hitler's vengeance ("Is Paris Burning?"). After a quick look around, he declined a drink or dinner and ambled off into the mists of history. Sitting in the bar, you can hear the peacetime von Choltitz much more clearly than his no doubt noisier wartime troops.

Yelp
This is the creme de la creme. Rated 6 diamonds! I didn't even know that was possible!! The location is perfect. The service was impeccable! They upgraded me to a beautiful junior suite. My entire stay was like magic. I didn't want to leave. It was, hands down, the best trip I've ever had in my life, and the credit goes to this amazing hotel and it's staff who made it so memorable. There's a reason jay z raps about this hotel in the song: "n***** in Paris". This place is legit.... I will be back for sure! Next spring.

Yelp
perfect location, clean rooms and good service. All things that matter to me in a hotel. I splurged and ordered a fruit basket and flowers for checkin, and it was the perfect touch for a nicer stay. I never ate at the restaurant or used any of their extra services.

Yelp
Stayed there again in May (2016). Had wonderful room overlooking the Tuileries. Hotel has redone the dining area and it is really spectacular Hotel staff even remembered us from last year's stay. (Not sure if this is a good thing or not!) Spent time with the woman who redesigned the dining room. Very interesting and talented lady. One fun aspect of our stay was that Rod Stewart was staying a few doors away on our floor. Cool guy - great clothes!

Yelp
We stayed here a week ago for eight days in their superior rooms. It is a jewel box hotel and their staff makes it so special. We loved it here.

Yelp
5-star service from check-in to check-out. Rooms are gorgeous, restaurant is fabulous, bar is sublime, and staff was superb. We had a fantastic stay. Thank you - especially to all of the staff: from top to bottom, each & every one of you were so professional, accommodating, and cheerful. The best of the best!!

Yelp
If you have lots of money and want to stay some place really chic, the Meurice qualifies. It's one of the only hotels in Paris that has three Michelin stars in its restaurant. The service is as good as it gets. If you have to worry about the cost, the Meurice isn't for you. One of my favorite things to do is splurge and have a drink in the bar with uber incredible bar man William. Drink slowly! Great cocktails and even better people watching!

Michele M.

Yelp
My stay at Le Meurice was simply amazing!! The staff worked effortlessly to make every minute of our stay a pleasurable one. To experience true luxury is to be at this hotel. Other luxury hotels do not compare with the service, sizable suites, dinning and great location. If you desire constant pampering, this is the hotel for you! I requested a quiet room, so they made arrangements to ensure that no disturbances were on my wing. The room was spectacular, replete with marble bathroom, living room, fresh roses, champaign, an explosion of exotic fruits and delightful treats. The Deputy Director of Guest Relations, Marc-Antoine, met us upon our arrival and made special arrangements with the pastry chef to design a desert for my daughter in celebration of violin performance in Beethoven documentary. This was a work of art, such that we did not want to eat it. When I come back next year, my husband and I will be staying at Le Meurice for a prolonged stay.

Mike R.

Yelp
Had a great business lunch. Great location and wow what a hotel. However when I wanted the doorman to get me a cab, he refused since I wasn't staying in the hotel. Maybe he was a a bad mood since he smelled like he didn't shower for a week. Why would a fine hotel have someone like that working the door. I would never go back.

Yelp
This is our second stay. This time we needed 3 rooms for almost a week. We stayed here again because of the location, service, spa and exercise facility. The spa and exercise are under renovation ( we were not advised) and as I write this I am not sleeping --as our room ( the most expensive of the three) is by the elevator and across from a temporary amusement park with loud rides, shotgun games and carnival music ( which means sleeping til about 1 am is nearly impossible). Breakfast service is wonderful , concierge perfect, rooms comfortable but the other issues and confusing service in the " dining area" between breakfast area and bar more than frustrating.

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 nights when visiting my hubby's family here in France. From service, to history, the hotel is exquisite ... Old world charm, intricate detail and friendly staff greet you every day. I will be sure to stay here again- one thing to note is the hotel is also family friendly. While we didn't take our 2 year old, I imagine him visiting the park opposite the hotel and riding on the carousel. The hotel organizes child services while you go out for the day. Also- didn't hurt to see celebs walk through the lobby- small note- even the lobby restrooms are phenomenal! I've never seen a computerized restroom with heat control , self cleaning device but it's old world luxury with new world technology ;)

John E.

Yelp
If you are looking for the very best discreet gentile service in truly one of the most lovely hotels in the world and in the loveliest of cities this is the hotel for you. The service was gracious, professional, courteous and unobtrusive and of a rare caliber found in few places in the world. Staying there recently was an absolute joy! Thank you to the staff of this magnificent hotel.

Ann B.

Yelp

Julie L.

Yelp
This was my second stay at the Meurice. The first time was wonderful; it was two years ago. This time the stay practically ruined the trip. Despite the fact I paid in full before even checking in, they charged my card erroneously and then did not apologize when the charge wasn't reversed for days. There was no personal attention and the last straw was when I had to hail my own taxi out in front of the hotel when there were a group of doormen just standing there chatting. Shockingly poor service and a newly corporate feel. Can't wait to return to Paris and stay at a hotel where they appreciate your business.
