"A short walk from the hotel, this historic bakery is one of the oldest in Madrid and is recommended for classic Spanish pastries and quick, traditional baked goods while exploring the city center."

An old bakery in Madrid that has a kick. Some pastries are of very high quality, you can feel the butter, such as croissant sandwiches and Napolitana pastries, while other pastries are below average. You also have a lot of cakes and pastries, including the possibility of shopping for souvenirs. The crowd is very big, but the queue goes quite quickly (especially if you take the pastries to go). They pack beautifully.

Historical cafe and bakery in the center of Madrid at Sol square. Great for breakfast and brunch, come between 8AM and 11AM on weekdays and 9AM-12PM on weekend for breakfast menu which is much cheaper and better value than à la carte. Service is average during peak hours (order’s item forgotten). Cake is a bit too sweet for my taste.

Nice place to start off your day, quite a lot of different choices, there are 2 entrances (or one of them is exit im not sure), one of them is with a long queue (right next to metro exit). One little tip is that you should just enter via the other entrance as from what I observed, some people just enter via the other entrance and places order, while for the long queue as they are waiting outside, they do not know their line are getting cut, the staff do not care neither as they are super busy. It is kind of messy but the food tastes good and thats all i care.

My favourite pastelería in Madrid. The first place I visit as soon as we arrive. Grab a table upstairs, eat at the bar, or takeaway and enjoy your food in one of Madrid's many plazas. You won't be disappointed!

This place is an establishment so this review is just a small drop of water in an ocean of information. But we did not see this as a "must try" kind of place. We stopped in for a quick breakfast pastry and we both got a chocolate croissant. They were ok at best. The problem we both had was that they were extraordinarily sweet. While this pastry is always going to be sweet, this was sweeter than dessert-level. It seemed the dough was sweet, the filling was sweet of course, and then it was glazed with sugar or something. While it was fine and all, I'm not sure this lived up to the hype. That said I would come back to try the savory options to see if they are more to my tastes. Obviously the place can be mobbed with people so be aware of that.

Super busy most time of the day. Ordered 5 items that could be taken away and was wrapped nicely and easy to take on plane. Everything was delish without being too sweet. Large in portion for the reasonable prices. Wanted to try everything!!

An iconic pastry shop in Puerta del Sol. The "Napolitanas" are an staple pastrie here, closely followed by the "Bambas de Nata". But all pastries, cakes and cookies are really good. You can either have either for take away or enjoy them with some coffee or hot chocolate in the premises bar or the nice cafeteria upstairs. Tend to be very busy, but service is fast and effective, so even the street queues move fast. Price are still very reasonable, even with the unique location they enjoy.

As others have said, if you aren't a local or you don't speak Spanish, be prepared to wait and be treated like you're air while they prepare other's orders. Thankfully, the kind and thoughful locals helped me ask the attendant to take my order! would have been left standing otherwise. Go elsewhere if you want any level of hospitality or service!
