"Deliciously Divine Ceviche at La Mar Santiago Chileans love their ceviche just like Peruvians so it was no surprise when this Lima-based "cebichería" (belonging to chef Gastón Acurio), announced its opening in Santiago . Nestled among swish boutiques on Nueva Costanera, the city's foodies quickly dialed in on the potent cocktails and fruits of the sea. While ceviche may be the house speciality (in about 20 different ways), don't miss the "causas," dainty potato terrines with seafood toppings and chili sauces, their "tiraditos" (cousin to sashimi) and hot dishes like grilled crab. Forego the wine and try a fun cocktail like a "cholopolitan"—a play on the cosmo with pisco instead of vodka. Nueva Costanera 3922, Vitacura Phone: 56 2 2206 7839"

Best Peruvian food in Santiago. Everything is absolutely delicious. 🍽 The food is amazing. We shared all our dishes and it worked perfectly to try everything. 🍷 Pisco sour is a must. 📍 The area is quite busy, but there’s available valet parking and easy to access. 🤵🏻 The staff was helpful and kind. They made good suggestions on what to get. 🗓 The restaurant has many spaces, best to make sure to have a reservation.

Last night was pure magic at La Mar in Vitacura, Santiago! My wife and I enjoyed an unforgettable dinner where every detail—from the vibrant flavors to the impeccable service—left us in awe. We started our culinary adventure with their signature *Ceviche de Pescado y Calamar en Leche de Coco*. This dish elevated the classic ceviche to new heights. The freshest fish and tender calamari were marinated in a zesty citrus blend and finished with a silky, subtly sweet coconut milk infusion. It was a burst of freshness and flavor that set the tone for the rest of the meal. Next up was a show-stopping main course: *Pescado y Camarones a la Parrilla con Sazonado Peruano sobre Arroz*. The grilled fish and succulent shrimp were charred to perfection and generously coated with a traditional Peruvian spice blend that brought out their natural flavors. Served on a bed of perfectly steamed rice, the dish offered a satisfying harmony of smoky, savory, and aromatic tastes of Peru. Beyond the phenomenal food, La Mar itself is a celebration of modern Peruvian flair. The atmosphere is vibrant yet elegant, with a lively energy that makes it perfect for a romantic dinner or a celebratory gathering. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile and led us to our table without hesitation, even though we didn’t have a reservation. And the service? Simply flawless. Our server, José Manuel, was attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about sharing his knowledge & heritage. He went above and beyond to ensure our evening was perfect, making us feel like honored guests. La Mar is more than a restaurant—it’s an experience. From the exquisite dishes to the welcoming ambiance and outstanding service, it’s a must-visit for anyone in Santiago. We can’t wait to return!

This is the restaurant I've rated the lowest. Part of my experience was actually quite good. But during the meal I was trying to order a whole fish grilled. They brought over their English speaking waiter, I clearly communicated that we were trying to order a whole fish, there is a part of the menu specifically dedicated to whole fish. What we were actually brought was one of the most expensive things on the menu. The seafood platter (most of it ended up being fed to my friend's dog, who they actually kindly did let in). I might have rated them a 3 to 4 if the seafood platter was actually good tasting, but it was pretty middle of the road. Also the water that they put in an Evian bottle clearly wasn't Evian water. They capped the Evian water bottle too, to make it seem like it was actually Evian water even though it clearly wasn't.

They have real professional waiters. As soon as my wine glass was close to empty I would hear “permissio “ and someone would top up. The restaurant was packed and still they kept tabs on every table. We dined here twice, first time we ordered a bottle of wine lots of food, cognac dessert etc. The second time it was exclusively to eat the king crab. Which was very reasonably priced. One thing to note is they tend to fry the fish. You have to be explicit if you to have it baked. Everything we ate here was great, easily one of my top 10 restaurants. Made a reservation online and got there by 7:30pm around 9 the place was packed.

Very nice food. We ordered a ceviche and some congrio (my new favourite fish), to start with. The ceviche was a bit simple but still tasty. Then we followed with grilled octopus, and it was delicious. The menu is huge so there is a lot to choose from (can also be a bad thing). Drinks are nice and they got a good selection. Only negative feedback was a super loud music with a playlist that doesn’t go well with the place.

La Mar is one of the best places in Santiago for enjoying ceviche, grilled fish, and seafood in a chilled urban atmosphere. The restaurant is decided into terrace (outside), inside, and upstairs level. For family with kids: inside. We had a ceviche mix, followed by fish and seafood pasta. Accompanied by a good wine. Good service, friendly, and very good quality!

Maybe one of the better dining experiences we have had in a long time, the seafood was out of this world and reasonable. Oysters, Salmon sashimi, ceviche, vino, dessert - everything was excellent. Service top notch, we definitely recommend this restaurant!!

Having had a great meal at the Peruvian sister restaurant we eagerly booked this. The food was well cooked but the huge serving of mashed potatoes with all grilled fish dishes and nothing else was tedious and repetitive. The service was none existent as they served all the larger group tables and basically ignored the smaller couples tables. We had to ask multiple times for drinks, food and service- terrible! Then looked surprised when we pointed it out.

Yelp
If you are a party of one and a gringo, they will do everything they can to get you out of their restaurant. To include bringing me fried shrimp when I ordered and specifically went there to eat fish. I worked in Lima for a bit and feel like I have some grasp on what qualifies as Peruvian food and hospitality. This place does not qualify as any form of hospitality.

Yelp
On a holiday weekend at the beginning of spring (October), my hubby surprised me with lunch at La Mar. We arrived just after 1 p.m. to a mostly empty restaurant. Thanks to covid, there is no seating inside in the downstairs area, but there are ample tables out front and on the second floor terrace, which is enclosed save for the front-facing wall, which lets in nice breezes off the Andes. We had a reservation and were ushered upstairs to a central table near the back of the room that sat five and was hidden behind a wall of decorative olive trees. It was not the most ideal spot, but neither are most of the tables up here. As normal Chilean lunchtime rolled around (2 p.m.), we watched as several guests arrived, openly disliked their seating assignment, and asked to be moved due to the sun or a noisy fan that blew straight and continuously. While lacking the breathtaking high-up views of other local rooftop bars and terraces, it's not bad for the second floor. We started with the pisco sours as you do when visiting a Peruvian restaurant. They were refreshing for a hot day and went nicely with the fried calamari appetizer. Because it was so hot outside, instead of heavy steak or pasta dishes, we opted for all fish dishes including the sushi sampler and mixed ceviche. Everything was tasty and the service was great. If coming for lunch, I recommend arriving before 2 and making a reservation specifically requesting a table facing the street so you're near the open window with better views. One distinctive aspect of La Mar over other restaurants in the time of covid is that they provide cloth napkins in the individually wrapped silverware kit rather than the paper napkins found in most other places.

Yelp
Great place , if your with carta Blanca form your company selecting this place will be a no miss by Peruvian and Chilean Flavors , there is Jaime who is in charge and he will go out of his way to provide accordingly ,

Yelp
Stunning restaurant in a fancy area of Santiago. We started with a Peruvian Pisco Sour- yum! We had the ceviche sampler and grilled octopus on whipped potatoes. I never knew you could have that many variations of ceviche. The octopus was so tender and flavorful. Both were out of this world. I had the grouper with black rice and it was outstanding. Sadly, I could not finish it because I had filled up on starters. I couldn't stop eating the rice even though I knew I should concentrate on the grouper because it was so tasty. For dessert we had a flan like dessert and a caramel pudding? Both were amazing! Definitely grateful my friend/colleague introduced us to La Mar. Muy delicisoso!

Yelp
I had been to this restaurant last year but never posted a review, this is a Peruvian style restaurant in Chile, it has the most amazing food and the service is fantastic, there's nothing you can go wrong with, the food was delicious they have valet parking up front so you don't bother with parking since it's very limited, and it's in a very nice area.

Yelp
Peruvian & Japanese fusion, everything was outstanding! You need to make reservations in advanced! Fusión japonesa & peruana, todo fue sobresaliente! Tenes que hacer reservas sí o sí!

Yelp
Santiago: very cool place great ambiance and terrific fish offerings. We don't speak Spanish so had trouble communicating, otherwise a first-class experience. One of the best spots in Santiago

Yelp
Great! Ambiance: Nice and airy with seating inside and out. A little tight fitting and noisy at peak hour but seating in back room offers a quieter option. Service: Very attentive and helpful. complimentary dips with chips with roasted corn is a really nice touch. Food: I tried one of the many ceviches and it was delicious, with plenty of high quality seafood. The chef's sushi sampler was also great, though it only featured 5 nigiri and 4 had salt dumped on them which took away from otherwise delicate flavors. Price: a little on the high side, but the quality is there. I'd like to go back and try the seafood plancha which looked pretty impressive.

Yelp
Start was little bit problematic the host wasn't really happy to sit us outside claiming that it's already reserved but when we were leaving there was still a lot of empty tables outside. We were lucky that finally we found the guy who spoke English he was Venezuelan and he was amazing whatever he suggested drinks and food was right on spot very delicious fresh and unique. Special thanks to him unfortunately I don't remember his name but he was the only one who was speaking English in that establishment. So the four star because the host the rest experience was very good.

Yelp
Great seafood restaurant, with excellent service. Seafood was fresh and the ambience was perfect. The ceviche was Peruvian style and the congrio was very Chilean. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
The ceviche and octopus were amazing, one of the better ones I've eaten in South America. You also can't go wrong with their pisco sour

Yelp
Great decor, delicious food and good service. This place is a few miles away from the center of Santiago, worth the trip. The seafood is very fresh. We definitely suggest the ceviche mixto. Don't forget to order from their great list of wine.

Yelp
I will not be returning to La Mar. My husband and I loved the La Mar in San Francisco & Miami. The employees at the Santiago La Mar have a real attitude. All 3 times I have made a reservation (which must be done over the phone - ridiculous that they don't have on-line reservations) they have messed up the reservation. They seem to do it on purpose so they can 1) size you up, 2) act like they are doing you a favour by letting you stay, 3) give you a crappy table. They never admit that they made a mistake, let alone apologize. They never ask when you made the reservation or with whom you spoke. The most recent reservation bungling, the hostess who was just so satisfied with her own beautiful self, tried to seat us at a table in the middle of the second floor terrace (hardly a terrace) where the ambiance is like an operating room of a hospital. (On the phone I had requested the downstairs patio by the pond. Not to be.) When I requested a different table, the hostess glowered and said it was for people who had reserved. I replied, "Yes just like us." At this, she spun on her heels and stomped away angrily. Needless to say we picked a table, sat down and ordered. The food was okay, but here in Santiago there are so many good Peruvian restaurants, we won't be returning to over priced snot faced La Mar. Another time my husband's company made a reservation for a large group. They did not acknowledge that reservation either, but "managed to fit them in.". And finally on our anniversary my husband tried to make a reservation for outside on the terrace They informed him that they didn't reserve for the terrace, so he asked if they would put a special note in his reservation. There was an empty table when we arrived, so naturally we asked for it. They told us it was for people who had requested it in their reservation. It sounds like I'm obsessing about tables, but the inside of the restaurant is ugly and noisy - not conducive to pleasant dining.

Excellent food & service in a very hip place. Selection of ceviche & wine were great. Nothing pretentious. Just tasty.

Yelp
Cebiche, ladies & gentlemen. From raw, well-spiced, lemon-marinated fish, to roasted octopus and a good variety of hot plates, La Mar is a go-to for all things marine. Being Chile well known for its seafood (given the obvious fact that it has... well, a really long coast), it's no surprise that a great specialized restaurant like this one has a place in the capital. Located in the upper-class residential neighborhood of Vitacura, the quality of the plates, the ambience and the service are in consonance with the surroundings of the restaurant - but so is the price. Expect to pay no less than US$40-50 each, but in exchange of a nicely done variety of plates and drinks that are well worth it.

Yelp
You know it, I know it: The Peruvian food scene in Ashe County, NC is not what it could be. So one day you have to empty out the old change jar, and buy a couple of business class plane tickets to Santiago. And, when you do, you absolutely have to make your way over to this restaurant, in the trendy Vitacura district. When you do, you will find some of the best food in the world. Everything tastes great. These people can cook seafood, and in everything. Try the pasta la Mar. Try different fish. Eat up. It doesn't hurt that the place is way cool yet (and?) incredibly comfortable, and that the staff is warm, friendly, and eager to please. Forget what you know about Peruvian food in Northwestern NC: This is the real deal. Ignore the four $ here at Yelp -- they use $ for Chilean pesos (what's up with that?) In genuine North American dollars, Union or Confederate, this place is very reasonably priced.

Yelp
We very much enjoyed our meal here though we don't think they understood our gluten allergies. We prefer the food and ambiance at La Mar Miami.

Yelp
Although a pricey, this was very good! The ambience is upscale but somewhat relaxed. The food is amazing. I has the Fashion, shrimp with flavorful risotto. My fiancé had the Salmon Risotto and he also raved about it. For starters, we ordered a delish octopus with a little bit of sauce on top but forgot the name of the dish. Overall, very pleasant and would recommend for business dinners or special occasions.

This restaurant is in my top 5 for Santiago, Chile. Great service, food was delicious and amazing drinks!

Yelp
Very good but make sure you have a reservation. We got there at 8 pm which is opening time. All the tables in the main dining area downstairs were taken. We were upstairs on the enclosed terrace. Cold but the big fire heaters helped. The cebiche sampler was excellent. My albacore steak was a little too done for my taste. But all and all very good.

Yelp
Wow, is all I can say. Great service and exceptional food and I mean E X C E P T I O N A L! Service, meal, surroundings and everything else. Put La Mar on your list!!

Yelp
The chef behind the successful Peruvian Astrid & Gastón, opened his third restaurant, La Mar Restaurant Santiago. Here seafood is the gastronomic highlight with modern ceviches and new recipes that make every dish special.

Javier R.

Yelp
Tried La Mar while in Chile on a business trip, AMAZING!!!! The service, the food and the ambiance was top notch. The pisco sour drink was also one of the best I've had. We ordered a ceviche sampler as an appetizer which was very fresh. For dinner I ordered the lomo salteado with a twist, had seafood in it. It was out of this world. Highly recommend this place!

Leslye P.

Yelp
I went here with locals who helped me order. The English menu is outdated and only a little helpful. But EVERYTHING was good!!! Ceviche and octopus are two things I have tried many times and usually don't like - but loved them here!!! We actually returned here two nights later bc we enjoyed it so much the first time!! Save room for the custard dessert!
