Gail and her staff are so incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful for anything you need. La Marejada is a gorgeous, clean property, and she makes you feel at home when you arrive. Plenty of nooks to relax in or active things to do near by. We rented surf boards directly from them for the week, and ate many delicious meals at the restaurant. This particular slice of the beach and the surrounding community are really something special. Locals and tourists regularly interact among their shared love of great surf waves, delicious food, and support of other great walk-able businesses in the area.

This little hotel is lovely and we were so happy to make it our home for a few days. Located right near the beach. Gail and Marco are welcoming and helpful. There is a pool and space to hang out in hammocks. Great base to explore nearby beaches (if you have a car). The restaurant here was truly wonderful. Fresh pasta made by Marco, delicious mixed drinks, fantastic staff.

My wife and I stayed here this past weekend and would have to say this place is fantastic! Gail and Marco were terrific hosts. Anything we needed they were there to help. Gail even hooked me up with a board the weeks prior to our stay, which was rad. The hotel is situated walking distance to the beach were the surf in my opinion, when good, has the best waves in Guanacaste. So nice to have your own chairs on the deck and with the atmosphere of the pool, you cant beat it. They also have a spot for yoga and plenty of surfboards in their quiver to get you psyched for those dawn patrols or sunset sessions. Breakfast was delicious and the hotel was the cleanest that we stayed in on our roadtrip through northern CR! If your looking for a super chill laid back spot with all the best amenitites then this is it. Next time we come through we'd be staying here for a lot longer, thats for sure!

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are pretty nice. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from a beautiful beach that we had almost to ourselves. The hotel restaurant is really good and reasonably priced. The owner, Gail arranged a boat ride for us (with water taxi to Tamarindo) and surf lessons. I would stay here again.

My wife and two teenage boys stayed here for 3 days (Dec 21-23, 2019) and really enjoyed it. Rooms were basic, clean and quiet, even in high season. The vibe is relaxed with communal hammocks, pool, yoga platform, bike/boards rentals and other spaces that we didn't discover until we were leaving. They were apparently merging or at least working with Sugar's Monkey hotel next door so you have access to more facilities. The location is on a quiet bumpy street where dogs sleep and is a ~3 minute walk to the amazing beach and a nice sports bar. The attached bar/restaurant is convenient and everyone we interacted with was great. Some of the lots around had for sale and sold signs so it may change.

This review is for their restaurant. They have a little growing up to do. Our friends from Florida decided to come spend the weekend with us in Costa Rica. We made reservations at La Marejada Restaurant for 6 PM on Sunday night. The two men wanted to eat fried red snapper. We waited for 2 hrs for the red snapper only to be told that they were out of snappers. My husband got the last snapper but my friend's husband remained hungry after a two hour wait. The waiter had no experience whatsoever with his job. He did not check on us at all, he brought the food to each of us at different times and we never got the second snapper. Another customer who came and ordered after us got a really nice red snapper. If I was you I would stay away from this restaurant in the evening and on weekends and always when it is very busy. Unless you want a repeat of my story.

We went to La Marejada restaurant once for dinner and once for lunch during our stay in Playa Grande. It is excellent value for money even though it's not super low cost. We had pasta and shrimp in white wine for dinner, which were very well done and the shrimp came with a good salad and potatoes. They serve a free amuse bouche of baguette with olive tapenade or bruschetta - very nice. For lunch we got pork Tacos and a buritto and they were excellent - quality ingredients and very large portions for the price. The staff are very friendly and the service is quick.
