This was the best restaurant we’ve eaten to in Paris. Everything we had was delicious and every server we met were very friendly. The atmosphere and music was also great which is why we have visited several times for the past 2 weeks. If it’s your first visit, order the onion soup, and cote de cochon. You will not regret it! And make sure to come early for dinner or during the weekdays, because the weekends will be packed.

We arrived as a party of 10. It is a great, lively ambiance with a staff truly welcoming and accommodating. We were predominately English speaking which was not an issue. The food was absolutely excellent as was the service. A great selection of wines to choose from and a varied menu. One of my favorite meals in Paris.

Google
I can not stress enough how wonderful this place is. The service was impeccable, the food was exceptional. I was in tears when I received the desert! 🧁 Merci! I will definitely be coming back. Leave your ego at the door and just take in all ambience of what Paris has to over.

Google
So good we went 3 nights in a row. Beautiful classy venue, perfect atmosphere, great food and wine, well priced, fantastic service. As a family travelling with an 8yo we wanted somewhere nice, easy, classic, and fun. They didn’t disappoint over the 3 visits. All dishes were top quality, and generous. Highly recommended.

Google
Can not fault this place. Best meal so far in Paris (been numerous times). The servers were very polite and friendly and the food was so delicious.

Google
The food was delicious and the service great. As an American, the only thing I didn't like was the steak, for me it lacked flavor, came too raw (and I ordered medium rare) and was a tad too cold, after trying steak a few more times in other restaurants, that is just how they like it, which is cool, but perhaps if you are used to a more American, Argentine or Brazilian style steak it wont be too your fancy. The pork was banging and the dessert was incredible, some sort of bread smothered in sweet sauce. I'd go back just for that.

Google
The food was outstanding! The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. (They speak English). I very rarely give 5 stars but this one earned it.

Conveniently located eight minutes walk from Republique, La Marine is situated along the Canal Saint Martin in Paris' new trendy neighborhood. The atmosphere looks like old world charm but with a younger population, and the menu is classic French without seeming stodgy. In fact, it was the best meal we've had in Paris after three visits to this beautiful city. It is affordable, comfortable, and beyond exceptional in deliciousness. Be sure to end your meal with the brioche, a delicious 'French toast" with vanilla ice cream, but way way more! Œufs cocotte, crème de truffe blanche d’été et champignons Velouté de potimarron, graines de courges et noisettes grillées Thon mi-cuit poivré, pleurotes, purée maison Saint-Jacques françaises, bisque de corail, riz noir et fenouil Brioche façon pain perdu, glace vanille

Yelp
This restaurant is lively, great service, and tasty food! We went for dinner on Saturday evening (8pm), and were able to walk over from our hotel. We had reservations and there was no wait at all for our table even though the place was busy. The fact that it was busy didn't interfere with our meal/experience there. We had a table with a booth on one side and chairs on the other- my dad and I on the booth side and I was comfortable, though close to the table next to us so I had my mom put my purse on the extra empty chair. I think the canal Saint-Martin is so charming and if it weren't for our dinner reservations here we wouldn't have gotten to experience the canal. It is a very trendy part of Paris now! We got a bottle of sparkling water for the table to share, they brought out olives and 3 toothpicks for us which I thought was a cute touch. They brought out lemon per my request which wasn't quite as thick as I like it in order to squeeze it but wasn't bad either. They brought bread for the table which could have came earlier in my opinion vs at the same time as the food. I had the artichoke salad which was divine, my mom had the tomatoes and mozzarella. She said the tomatoes were fresh, had some sea salt, and came with a heart mozzarella serving. Dad had snails and French onion soup. Great French cuisine with terrific, prompt service. Also cute decor.

Yelp
The food was wonderful, the ambience was warm and festive, easily one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants.

Cherese M.

Yelp
Quaint French bistro off the canal. The service tonight was top notch. Everyone was friendly Spoke decent English but most important the food was amazing! Salmon Tatar, salad, swordfish with mashed potato's and raspberry tart for dessert. The perfect evening and the kitchen is open until 12 midnight.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Great cafe on the canal! Staff was nice and attentive. The food was good typical menu.

Ani G.

Yelp
A very good adventure for foodies , you got to explore The Canal St Martin and across it is this wonderful restaurant . Ive never been satisfied like this and ill rate all the food that i ordered as excellent . Our server was good too and the staff are attentive . Thanks for the home made " Profiterole " .

Jordan S.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in all of Paris!!! Atmosphere, food, and service is exceptional. Merci, le marine!!!

Adelie S.

Yelp
Cute corner restaurant with beautiful interior overlooking Canal St Martin. We were not super hungry when we arrived late at night so I can only comment on the 3 starters and dessert that we had since we skipped the main courses. The king prawn gambas fritters served with sweet chilli sauce were delicious, as was the ouef cocotte with truffle and mushrooms that paired well with bread. The mini ravioli was just OK, nothing standout. The crème brûlée was served in a generous portion but some parts of it were still icy cold. Service is a little slow but the waiters have a good attitude and are generally cheerful. Overall we enjoyed our meal here and it was a nice way to wrap up a beautiful Paris evening!

Jerry C.

Yelp
Great service, Great food and friendly wait staff. Easy atmosphere yet romantic in setting.

Dominique F.

Yelp
Great food! Service was slower than expected both nights we visited but the food was excellent and the host was very nice.

Renee L.

Yelp
Very busy, service is lacking at times. But food is EXCELLENT! Good flavor profiles-the place is packed so try to make a reservation.

Thomas F.

Yelp
Alongside the Canal Martin there were several interesting places to eat. I almost stopped into the famous Hotel du Nord where some French movies were filmed including one named for the hotel itself. The dining area was deserted so found La Marine instead. It had been recommended by my hotel but was not a bit touristy. The Menu du Jour for 18€ had many great choices. I started with a Tartar of Avocado and Baby Shrimp which delicious along with a glass of Rosé du Provence. My main was Veal with Olives and Mushrooms over rice. This was quite good and the excellent bread helped sip up the gravy. Ended with a Café Noisette and an enjoyable short walk back to the hotel.

Yelp
There are moments in life where you can sit back, enjoy a great meal alone, and take in all the sights from the nearby canal traffic, foot traffic, or street traffic. During that moment, you know that thru the noise, the distractions around you, and the forces of nature working against you, you have met the crossroad of perfection and delicious. Sit here at La Marine alone, or with friends and you will understand what it means to have the perfect meal. What you ask for is consistent time after time. The steak is prepared to perfection, and the potatoes are whipped to the perfect buttery texture you never knew existed. Come on by, avoid the distractions, and indulge in one of the finest meals you can encounter in life.

Yelp
Delightful atmosphere and absolutely delicious food and delightful wines. Best escargot I've ever had. The scallops were perfectly prepared as was the fish that my cousin had. Our servers were kind and patient, considering our lack of French language skills. We had a perfect table by the window so we could see all of the neighbors out for their Friday evening stroll. Charming. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Madelyn B.

Yelp
Food was quite tasty! Service was unfortunately quite awful. They were very busy that evening, but we felt very neglected. If you are an English speaker coming here, be prepared to use a translation app as the employees don't speak English and the menu is entirely in French. Our desserts took an hour to come to the table.

Shit H.

Yelp
nice cafe to sit outside and watching the scenery while you enjoy yor drinks. friendly stuff, good food, reasonable prices (for Paris) Try the 'French Brioche' with Ice cream.

Ren N.

Yelp
Our first meal in France after coming from the airport. I wouldn't say I was starving but this place was recommended by our Airbnb host to serve good authentic French brunch food. The atmosphere is nice, pub like setting, waitresses try their best to explain the menu in English. They have the pick 2 for 17 euros. Good portions for appetizer and entree. I got a cheese salad and steak for brunch and it was fantastic. Located right by the canal currently undergoing constructions, the view is meh, but has great potential. I recommend it for those who's looking for something inexpensive, this place has at least the basic items of a French cuisine.

Rodney H.

Yelp
Nice canal side restaurant , good service & decent food for reasonable value, 2 course lunch menu is a good option Either appetizer plus main Or main plus dessert

Yelp
Host/hostess: n/a Waiter(s): 4.8- attentiveness, awareness, demeanor Food-taste, presentation, pacing: 4.8 Property - decor, ambiance: 4.7 It all started with the Oeufs en cocotte and totally fell in love...menu changes everyday. Si je peut travailer en France je sera absolutment vivre pres d'ici.

Yelp
By far the best dinner we've had in Paris as of yet. I'm a vegetarian and didn't really expect to have much of an option for dinner outside of the typical pasta primavera or pizza (as ive been doing thus far), but the spinach and ricotta ravioli in a decadent parmesaean cream sauce was absolutely amazing! My husband, who is not vegetarian, could not stop raving about the pork shoulder and he typically does not like this dish. The staff spoke English and were also very helpful in answering questions about the menu. Enjoyable and romantic vibe within the restaurant. Definitely Worth the trip!

Simon W.

Yelp
An ok cafe, next to the canal in an Amsterdam-esque setting. Very friendly staff. Often open when other nearby bistros are not- e.g. holidays. Breakfasts are fine but basic.

Miriam W.

Yelp
After pre-conference drinks a group of us came here for dinner. It was a Sunday night, the options in the area were not plentiful and it seemed okay enough. This visit was made prior to Yelp.fr becoming publicly available so I was at a loss for a better suggestion. The 1920's era interior added to La Marine's charm; the only problem was the food. I must place it squarely in the boring bistro category. Think cold bread, chewy steak, wilted salad. Three words for its barely mediocre offerings: Not so much.

Christina H.

Yelp
Swanky cafe with delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly service (even by American standards.) Food & Prices: We shared an appetizer and each got an entree. We started with salmon and scalops carpaccio that was perfectly seasoned. My pan-seared dorade/sea bass dish with candied vegetables was phenomenal, with generous portions. The menu was quite diverse, with some classic French dish and foreign flavours (Thai, moroccan, etc.) Our bill came to around 25Euros/person. Service: We were seated almost immediately after arriving at the restaurant on a busy Saturday night. Our bread basket and carafe was refilled without having to ask our server/being rushed, throughout our dinner. Ambiance: Lively, fun, and young. We had a table inside by the Canal. What's there not to like about staying warm while dining next to the water?

Zeva B.

Yelp
The servers at this gorgeous bistro are just shockingly rude. I came in recently with a friend for coffee and we we were deliberately ignored by the surly waitress who was taking table orders. Had to go up to the counter twice to place my order and when there no one seemed surprised or concerned that we had to do the work for them. When it came time to pay, not a smile or thank you crossed anyone's lips. What is so strange is that the owners of this place also own American Kitchen where the service is so attentive and sweet. Not sure what's going on at La Marine but there are definitely some people working there who shouldn't be in the service industry.

Willy W.

Yelp
Located along the Canal St. Martin, you'll find La Marine near a bridge or two. It's a sleepy place, but it sure gets crowded at nights. Stopped by this cafe for a late lunch. I always enjoy sitting on the street and watching life go by. That day happened to be good as most Parisiens had already gone their way - aka not too much smoke out there. Service was pretty good as the server willingly put up with my poor French, but switched to English every once in awhile. I went w/the "formule" for about 15E which includes either entree + plate or plate + dessert. I went the ladder; I chose a steak w/poivre sauce and mash potatoes + baba au rhum. I thoroughly enjoyed my small bavette steak. I'm not a huge fan of baba au rhum, but it was good for what it is. And they did accept my (silly CHIP-less) American credit card. More importantly the view of the Canal St. Martin is great. I like this area a lot~

Linda Y.

Yelp
This was recommended by our hotel. We got a window seat to overlook the canal. The mojito was full of fresh mint and limes. I am not a big drinker so when I finished I used the empty glass for water and there were still plenty of mint leaves left over to flavor the water. My daughter had the ravioli. It was recommended by other Yelp reviews and is definitely a good choice as it was some of the best I had tasted. I had the daily special which was steak and scalloped potatoes. I am usually more of a mashed potatoes fan but these were delicious with the right amount of cheese and cream to add flavor but not be over powering. For dessert the waiter recommended the apple pie and I would agree. It was served with clotted cream. My daughter had the chocolate cake which was very rich and served slightly warm with ice cream. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to return again soon.

Darcy D.

Yelp
Delicious. I went with my mother on the recommendation of a friend. She had the tomato and chevre tarte as a starter and the roast veal with food gras sauce as a main. I had the hare terrine for a starter and the fish with saufron, fennel and tomato sauce. It was all delicious, especially the tarte, the pommes Anna with the veal and the fish sauce, but you can tell all the food was great quality, fresh fish, great veal, etc. An amazing option!

Monisha R.

Yelp
Delicious food! The place is very cozy especially at night, and the view outside does not disappoint.

Roland L.

Yelp
Went back again last week, it will be a tradition, when we are in Paris we will eat there, we had Rabbit with penne, Bar a la provencale ( Fish) dessert was a tarte au pomme facon Tatin ( upside down with caramel crust) a classic dish. Unforgettable evening once again.

Martin A.

Yelp
Visited Le Marine on a Saturday evening for dinner. The place was packed (tourists and locals). When we initially arrived there were no tables but we decided to hang out at the bar and within 15-20 minutes were promptly seated. My companion ordered Agneau en Cocotte while I had Megret de Canard. The lamb was a much better dish, more flavorful and so much better executed. Lots of meat but well cooked with great sauce and flavor. On the other hand the duck was so-so. A bit too raw, and not much seasoning. Required some serious chewing and I was not able to finish it not did I want to. The service however was excellent. For desert we ordered creme brulee, which was good but not wow. Bartender and waiters were friendly, welcoming and without any attitude. Google reviews rate this establishment as 3.5 stars and I think this is more accurate.

David P.

Yelp
Good spot, salmon tartare was excellent, and the spinach ravioli also very good. The creme brulee was fine, nothing mindblowing.

Kristen G.

Yelp
We had six people in our party- everyone tried something different and we all loved our dishes! Great for children, absolutely delicious gratin, steak, friendly (English speaking if necessary) servers. Great experience!

Marilyn Z.

Yelp
Really nice food, with a good wine list, and a beautiful terrace with a view on the canal.

Sandi D.

Yelp
Excellent food. The mini ravioli was delicious; the cream sauce to die for. Highly recommended!!

Kyle H.

Yelp
We really liked the food, drinks, and coffee! This is a nice place for dinner, or just a morning coffee. I recommend this place!

Rob R.

Yelp
When I smelled my off smelling seafood dish I was guaranteed it was fresh. The ensuing food poison that knocked me out for 2 days would contradict this. Appalling and unforgivable. It was my only night out with some out-of-town friends who partied without me the following night, their second and last night in town. Was obliged to go back once after with a group and everyone agreed the food was bland at best and the service average. At least none of us got sick! Never again!

Stephen H.

Yelp
Great cafe with a decent view of the Canal and good people watching. Not pricey.

Brice R.

Yelp
We ended up at La Marine by mistake but surely didn't regret it. The food was really good, quite innovative (not to mention the delicious chocolate cake). Service was great, the "maitre d'" found us a nice spot outside, by the canal and our waitress was really nice. I'll definitely come back to try more of their attractive dishes (and their strawberry mojito, as my friend's glass looked amazing).

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Best meal we had in Paris! The beef filet was delicious and perfectly cooked, but the best meal on our table was the agneau en cocotte - the food is so tender and served in a little casserole dish. The touch of honey adds the perfect sweetness to it. Service was excellent. Server spoke a bit of English, which was essential for my in-laws, but the menus are only in French. The place stays busy - tables stay open for seconds before a new seating, so be prepared to arrive early or wait for a bit.

Craig M.

Yelp
Met here for a 'last supper' (well, it was a lunch actually...) to cap off what had been a fantastic weekend in Paris. They were offering the 14euro for two courses lunch. They dishes all sounded so damn tasty that we were clever enough to order a starter, 2 mains and a dessert between two! The 6 of us were seated on a big round table in their spacious dining room - nestled in with the hustle and bustle. The food was delicious. We mostly opted for different dishes but the many groans of approval suggested that we were all rather happy with our meals. Really great service here too! The canal makes for a lovely stroll to walk off your over-indulgence. Superb.

Grace K.

Yelp
After wondering the canal trying to decide where to have dinner, SO glad we chose La Marine. The staff was friendly, the food was great, and had such a good vibe...was playing old school hip hop- but not a club banger so loud you can't hear anything type of way. Ambiance was nice and played nicely in the background. Ordered the Plate du Jour- the steak! JUICY (medium rare) and perfectly prepared. Came with a onion reduction sauce and I requested for fresh salad instead of the potato gratin side. It was perfect. Good portion and meat wasn't fatty. It was so tasty. Also ordered the house red wine. It was good. Not acidic (which I hate). It was smooth and balanced. Would not recommend ordering the tiramisu dessert. The ratio of the mascarpone cheese was too much. There was barely any lady fingers. It was also small.

Scarlet L.

Yelp
This is a horrible horrible place. I attended this place with my francophone daughter. The server was so rude. Right from the beginning. In the end he we left before our coffee arrived as we were waiting 40 minutes. And guess what. The man chased us out onto the street. And started screaming at us. It was so horrendous it still gives me shudders to think about it. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Anna F.

Yelp
Some friends who lived in Paris two years ago recommended this place and I'm glad we took their advice and caught the metro to Canal St Martin and got a table at this gem. The waitress was very friendly and spoke English. I had the escargot for entrée (beautifully buttery and garlicky), the duck for main (the jus was super tasty) and the citron vert mousse for dessert (only downfall was the mousse, tasty but not citrusy). The waitress gave her suggestions for wine and we enjoyed a lovely white wine - sorry, can't remember the name. She said it was a 'french classic' and it was very nice. My partner also had 3 courses - beef carpaccio, prawns and crime brûlée, which he enjoyed. Lovely spot to then have a wander along the canal.

C S.

Yelp
This is our first time in Paris and it's been really difficult for us to pick a place to eat for every meal since all the restaurants look so amazing. Earlier we asked our tour guide for some suggestions and this was one of the places he mentioned. He told us the food is really good and not very expensive. Since it was close to our hotel, we decided to come here. We didn't really have much expectations but I was so impressed with how good the food was. We had the salmon tartar for starter, steak/dauphinoise and ravioli and creme brulee for dessert. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was so good. It was the best steak and potatoes I've ever had! And I swear I could've are a big bowl of the salmon tartar. The serving size was good and our server was really nice and helpful with his suggestions. Overall, our dining experience was excellent and we will definitely go back when we return to Paris.

Adriana G.

Yelp
This WAS one of my favorite restaurants, they serve great dishes and are dog friendly.... Until today, when I was presented with a Squid salad with roquette. I have posted the photo of yellow expired arugula. I politely mentioned this to the waiter and he cut me off to say it was normal. I have grown up in a fine dining restaurant, this is beyond unacceptable and I will not be returning.

Tan R.

Yelp
Nice place near canal, good food especially the starters (sorry we just had starters because of complete lunch earlier). The potatoes with reblochon and jambon very nice the carpaccio also good with a good amount of parmesan. Affligem draft very nice beer! We like the place!

Donald O.

Yelp
As an American, I'm trying to keep in mind that from 2:30pmish to 6:00pm, most of Paris (and Europe I assume) take their breaks and go home to do what Europeans do at this time of day. As such, it was to my delight that I stumbled upon this spot by the canal by Canal St Martin (Paris' Bushwick?) to grab a bite. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Other hungry tourists were around as well but I was taken care off. A pan seared Dorade was quite good. You can't ever fail with Heineken on tap and the cafe creme had the perfect strength to keep me going after mid afternoon meal.

John M.

Yelp
Our first night in Paris we ate here. Had a great meal and friendly and helpful service. I had well prepare rabbit, my wife loved the raviolis and my son enjoyed his steak

Veronica C.

Yelp
I broke my rule, never eating at the same place twice while on vacation. The food was outstanding. The menu has a wide selection of delicious food. Our server, Guillaume, made my visit UNFORGETTABLE!!! Totally worth having it twice during the same vacation.

J H.

Yelp
This place is not good, stale bread and terrible olives. Cocktails also bad, pretty sure this place is a tourist trap.
