La Mariposa Hotel

We absolutely loved our stay at La Mariposa Hotel. The location was so ideal. We were able to either walk to restaurants or it was a very short car ride. We were greeted by the very friendly hotel staff when checking in. We had a beautiful room that was spacious, very clean, and a lovely balcony. The view from our room was fabulous. It was the most incredible feeling to see the Scarlet macaws flying around our balcony. The property was visited daily by the adorable monkeys. The pool was wonderful. It was large and had plenty of room for all of the guests to swim around in. It was also very clean. In addition, the pool water temperature was perfect. We were never cold, which made it so inviting. The delicious food and gorgeous ambience at their restaurant Le Papillon was top notch. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner here. It was so good we ate here over and over again. We would 100% book a room at this beautiful resort when we return to Manuel Antonio. My entire family gives La Mariposa Resort an A+.

What a wonderful place! Be prepared: the view will take your breath away! The room (sea view), the food, the staff and the Pool, just great! There was even a Baby sloth hanging in the tree in front of the hotel. Twice a day red macaws flew by, what emotional Moments… Enjoy the views on the terrasse, priceless! A complementary shuttle will bring you to the beach. The La Mariposa Hotel is a place to remember for life!

We have been to Manuel Antonio several times now, and usually stay at hotels closer to Biesanz Playa. We have walked past La Mariposa on the way to town and decided to give it a try. Our flight was 6 hours delayed so check in was awkward at 4:30 AM as the security guard was unable to find our room for a bit. My husband found it (It’s down a flight of stairs pretty well hidden!). When we saw our room entrance we were concerned, however upon opening the door we were amazed. The back wall is floor to ceiling glass and the view of the ocean is breathtaking. The bathroom sink is in the living room, which still gives me pause, but having a bidet (where it belongs, in the bathroom) helps make up for it! The buffet breakfast is quite good with the typical plantains, beans and rice, and sausage. Made to order eggs and good toast options is a very nice touch. All the staff have been more than accommodating and very friendly. The groundskeepers have shared information about resident sloths (there was a baby at the top of our stairs the first day!), and the bar is kind and fills our water bottles constantly for us. Magaly was our server for dinner the other night and she was fantastic. She provided us with great meal suggestions and was very sweet when she complimented me on my Spanish (I am learning and am quite bad but she said otherwise!). This may be our new go to hotel when we visit Manuel Antonio in the future.

Had a wonderful stay! The hotel definitely has the best view of Manuel Antonio. The staff here are so welcoming and truly work hard to make your stay as amazing as possible. Kendall at the bar was one of our favorites! Also, the best hotel for wildlife! We watched monkeys swinging from our balcony, a baby sloth hanging by the lobby, and lots of birds and reptiles. I will say the rooms are outdated and there’s lots of stairs and a large hill to get to and from reception/restaurants. It would be worth it ask for one of the rooms in the main building. View from room was beautiful though! And the pools were very cold - would’ve been perfect if they were heated.

Location is good enough. The restaurant is good and the view is stunning. What cannot happen is to have cold water in your room when you’re back from the beach. Bed and shower are basics in a hotel. The rest is bonus. By the way, Internet does not work well in the room

The view from the restaurant is really beautiful. The rooms were clean and servers at the restaurant were really friendly. Only concern is the people at the front desk. They have no smile and unfriendly. I am in hospitality business and first impression is very important. So management need to make sure the customers have first good impressions from front desk

The room was great mostly because of the view and I also liked the bidet. The first morning there we woke up after arriving the previous night in the dark and I was just amazed at what I woke up to. A beautiful view of the ocean, monkeys jumping from roof to roof and so much greenery. The breakfast was included and was so filling I didn’t have to eat again for another 10 hours. Not only was it filling but it was quite tasty. The waiter John who served us breakfast each morning was great. He pointed out a sloth in a tree next to our room, a macaw in another tree and monkeys by the bar. He answered all of my questions about Manuel Antonio and did it with a smile. I would definitely stay here again and again. Also the shuttle took us to the beach and introduced us to Angie who took great care of us on the beach. She brought our drinks and ceviche to us, she found a sloth in a tree for me and she hooked us up with a discount for the catamaran.

Great location near Antonio Manuel and Marina. Rooms were spacious and CLEAN. Calming having coffee on the balcony. Hotel views of the ocean were panoramic and stunning. Beautiful pool overlooking the ocean and jungle. Front desk super helpful and even upgraded us, which was a fun bonus. Excellent service. The Le Papillon Restaurant is located on the hotel property. Once we arrived, we did not have to leave again to search for a restaurant. Great food ! Highly Recommend.
