Nice place but you can feel the ARROGANCE starting from the chain in the enterance.. i waited for 25 minutes looking at the empty tables.. and they accept only cash, no credit cards.. very very arrogant.. i would love to listen the owners..)) food was good but i rushed to the street taco place after.. just for some pretty self respect..)) edit: the food is so good that 3 days after came again.. i think i will keep coming....)))

Google
Authentic Mexican food. Very popular place still even though it's been in business for 8 decades. We waited for good 20 mins to get a table for 7 but it's worth it. Food is excellent and very reasonable priced. Friendly and helpful staff. If you like sweet, they have plenty for you too.

Set your expectations right this is not fancy at all but it is good food … pastries are amazing… strong coffee food is ok … enjoy

It was my first time visiting Querétaro, and I came to this restaurant with colleagues. The moment I stepped inside, I was blown away by the atmosphere—it’s truly stunning. If you're searching for a local, authentic experience, I highly recommend this spot. The menu offers dishes you won’t find anywhere else, and the live music during dinner was an amazing touch!

I got the chicken enchiladas, but was Lowkey disappointed. They didn’t have as much flavor as I was expecting. They also don’t have pozole till later in the afternoon, so be warned. Their peach pie was good though & service was amazing.

Google
A great little restaurant in the heart of Queretaro….Comida Casera…HomeCooked Food. Everything was wonderful here. From the chicken soup, enchiladas, torta de pollo, and the tamales. They evn their own cappuccino espresso machine from the 1950’s. Great cafe con leche and cappuccino. A definite gem in this historic city.

Google
Comida casera. Home cooking like my wife's grandmother use to make for me. Although not flashy, the molletes (toasted rolls with beans and melted cheese and green salsa on the side) are my favorites. The cafe con leche is good...the waitress will ask you how much coffee to add to the glass before she pours the hot milk. The milkshakes are fabulosos!

Google
This is a legit Mexican diner and I love the fact that it seems that this place has been frozen in time. Good to note it can also be mistaken for a retirement home hehe. Good taste hasn't changed, tasty and very simple. Don't expect anything amazing, there aren't chefs here. This is a diner. You'll see many elderly people eating here so don't expect anything fun. I am giving them 3 stars because the waiting area needs more attention. All the waitresses would pass by and would ignore everyone who wanted to put their name on the list. Service was extremely slow, even the bill took forever to arrive.

Yelp
Authentic Old-timer Mexican Diner place, they have kept the environment all looking as back in the time... Delicious food, great fora Sunday brunch, the bakery is outstanding and also kind of unique... try the "borrachitos" small and delicious taste of the authentic Mexican bakery. My personal favorite for breakfast are the "Enchiladas verdes" with chicken, but needles to say that you also need to try the "Huevos rancheros" milkshakes and probably all you have from the menu would not disappoint you. My favorite authentic place in all Querétaro!

Yelp
This place was recommended by a local. It is best known for its enchiladas but I prefer the molletes and empanadas. Cash only.

Yelp
Recently visited twice in a week while in Queretaro. The service was terrible both times there the staff seemed to be in a bad mood both times. The food was very good with a long wait to be served. This place would be great if the staff was faster and friendlier.

Yelp
Great meals and great spot. Had the Torta de Pollo and the Enchiladas. Both cooked to perfection! The Torta was amazing! For desert, had a Cappuccino with the Mantecada alongside a pastelitos de Mermelada Chabacano. Both were ok, smaller portions but not bad at all. Service was a little slow given how many people their were but good nonetheless.

Yelp
Heh. It's a 60s-era diner that doesn't make you pay for the nostalgia. My wife and I tried going here for weekday breakfast but the line was too long, and then successfully returned for dinner on a Monday night. I enjoyed my torta con queso y pollo order. The sandwich was reasonably-priced and sized (relative to other football-sized tortas I'd ordered over the course of my two-week trip). We also each ordered a limeaid, but I quickly wished I'd ordered one of the shakes that I saw floating around the joint. For dessert we split a slice of chocolate cake, which was dark and delicious. I'd definitely recommend to folks looking for something different on a trip to Querétaro, without blowing your budget.

Yelp
La Mariposa is a Queretaran institution. Having been open since 1940, this eatery embodies the food and culture of the Querétaro of yore, making every meal here a nostalgic trip to a place where time is still, and the food greatly satisfying. This place is loved by true Queretarans, those born and raised in this quaint city, as opposed to the people who have moved here in the past few years, who are now the majority of the state's population. It would be hard to find a Queretaran that has never heard of La Mariposa. This place is known for its traditional Queretaran dishes, such as Enchiladas Queretanas, Tacos Dorados, their preparados of various fruits, pastries, pies, mantecado, and the delicious malteadas that are reminiscent of simpler times. I was introduced to this eatery nearly 15 years ago, but it has been until recently that I rediscovered this place, and have gained true appreciation for their kitchen and atmosphere. The Enchiladas are great and a true icon of this resto, with the flavors playing off each other in a way that speaks of this city, and what makes this dish a staple of the state. If you have only one chance to try Enchiladas Queretanas while in Querétaro, this would be the place to do it. My favorite is the malteada de mantecado, sweet, fruity and buttery, and flavors that embody a gastronomic staple of this city. This is one of those places I wish will never change. I hope time keeps passing by for this great cenaduría, and that it's food and atmosphere remain timeless through the years.

Yelp
Delicious consomé and enchiladas. This is an old school restaurant that makes everything fresh and from scratch. Our friend recommended it and it didn't disappoint.

Yelp
Fast service but too busy. Enchiladas Rojas very tasty and excellent coffe. Cheese bread and pine apple are fresh and good.

Yelp
Very fine traditional Mexican breakfasts. Retro decor is dated but has its charm. Huevos Rancheros were great. Their bread and baked goods are supreme!

Yelp
The guide book loved this place, but we were underwhelmed. Retro 40's diner decor with overly bright lights. Uninspired wait staff. Pretty boring food. We wouldn't go again.

Yelp
Can't say anymore that what has been written here already, it's a gem. I went there expecting to be in "El Zorro" style decor.nope. It's basically a cafeteria style, fluorescent lit dining room, waitresses who look like nuns. They might be nuns... Old school menu and place mats with a vintage reproduction of a map of the city of Querétaro. Yes it gets busy, avoid peak hours. Service is good. My 7 year old had salad and loved it. Tamales are good. I had a guava shake and it transported me back to the very first time I bit into a guava at my grandparents home in Puerto Rico. Enough said.

Yelp
The cafeteria's food sucks , the pastries some are good some are terrible , don't buy the colorful cake is terrible the top looks cute but is hard butter the inside is chocolate cake with butter and mermelade terrible and after 2 days the cake was rotten , I went and complain they didn't care , I'm not buying nothing there anymore , the customer service lady lacks of that , we went to la Charamusca they have the best bread baked every morning, and is around the corner.

Yelp
I honestly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting, it is not one of the best I have gone to, but is defiantly one of the best in Queretaro. The few times I have visited is always full and sometimes there is a line, so if you are very hungry you can order a milkshake or a snack from the separate room. Seriously, order a milkshake (of mantecado) or a cappuccino and you will not regret it, they are delicious.
