Panama City's Newest Hotel Feels Like a Private Island Resort — Even in the Heart of the UNESCO-protected Old Town

"Set inside the hotel, Vera Café brews specialty coffee from Santos Café, a small fifth-generation producer in the Panamanian highlands, and displays freshly baked croissants as delicate as those I’ve had in France, reinforcing a French-style café experience within the property." - Lane Nieset Lane Nieset Lane Nieset is a travel writer from Miami who has lived in France for the past decade. A small and cozy spot with a warm atmosphere. The space is limited, so don’t expect many seats, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. The dishes are simple yet well-prepared, with good seasoning and fresh ingredients. The coffee was particularly great — rich, smooth, and very enjoyable. A nice place to stop by for a relaxed meal or a quick break.

Lovely quiet cafe just off a busy street. Service was friendly, and the food very fresh. The bread they use for today is amazing - soft and hearty. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our brunch here. Be aware that there's no wifi - on purpose - so you can be present. :)

🌟 "GOOD COFFEE FOR COOL PEOPLE." Their slogan is, without question, the gospel truth. I mean, the coffee is divine and I’m there a lot !😌 This café is more than just the best coffee I’ve tasted in Barcelona; it’s a vital escape for people like me who are AI engineers and spend their working days coding and programming glued to a laptop / screen working digitally. Therefore, the conscious decision to step away—to trade lines of code for the warmth of this space—is crucial. Vera Café provides just the perfect antidote for this: a place to enjoy a perfect brew (try the Americano!), have a nice chat, and genuinely meet amazing people. The atmosphere doesn't just feel like a cozy living room—it feels like coming home to a place I didn't know I was missing even after almost 5 years of living here in the same street in my hood 🩷🤗 For those of us navigating life abroad alone, with friends scattered across different time zones, finding a sanctuary is essential. And Vera Café is that sanctuary. The team is simply amazing—they listen to my bad Spanish with endless patience and unwavering kindness. They create connections through shared moments that anchor you to this cafe, neighborhood, and the city, I'm sure it doesn't matter where you come from or are heading to. The coffee and the atmosphere here have a certain raw, genuine, and soulful quality... it feels exactly like the comfort and nostalgia wrapped up in a Kings of Leon song, like a memory of feeling on top of the world during a concert even though you're very well aware that this is just a snapshot of your life during which time slows down just a little more to enjoy and embrace it to the fullest. Thank you for all your spirit, dedication and generosity. This is a genuinely special place, and you feel it in every ethical bean, every careful preparation, and every heartfelt memory created here. Go here for the coffee, stay because you feel like family. Even now I'm on a business trip but still writing this review because I miss their coffee ☕ Also love the stickers🤩 Muchas gracias por todo ❤️🤗

Great. Small is beautiful, they say — and this applies here more than ever. The coffee is great, the selection of cakes is equally lovely. And the other items on the menu not only are prepared with lots of love, but also taste high quality. Service is super friendly, and with a bit of luck you’re able to sit on the outside patio.

Vera Café is one of those spots that quietly gets everything right. We ordered two flat whites (beautifully done by Tania), the yogurt granola, and the hummus tostada. The coffee was balanced and smooth, with just the right roast depth to bring out the creamy texture—exactly what I want in a flat white. The granola came with fresh strawberries, banana, and kiwi, layered beautifully over creamy yogurt with light, crisp granola for texture. The hummus tostada was topped with juicy tomato and a drizzle of oil and herbs, simple but full of flavor. Cozy vibe, lovely staff, and a calm energy that makes you want to linger.

Stepping into Vera Cafe, you instantly feel like you've stumbled upon a secret garden of good vibes and deliciousness! Forget your Wi-Fi worries and laptop obsessions, because this charming spot is all about soaking in the moment, one perfect coffee (yes, coffee!) at a time. Their "First say hello, NO WI-FI, NO LAPTOP, YES COFFEE" sign sets the tone perfectly – it's a delightful invitation to disconnect and genuinely connect. And boy, is it worth it! From the vibrant fruit bowls overflowing with fresh goodness and crunchy granola, to the perfectly ripe avocado toast sprinkled with seeds (a true work of art!), every bite is a little burst of happiness. And don't even get me started on their fresh juices – pure liquid sunshine in a glass! The cozy atmosphere with its warm orange walls and charming decor makes you want to linger all day. Whether you're enjoying some classic peanut butter toast with jam or just chilling with a friend, Vera Cafe is a little slice of Barcelona magic. It's the kind of place that makes your heart smile and your taste buds sing. Definitely say hello to Vera Cafe – you won't regret it!

Lovely local cafe in a quite sun kissed spot. Perfect for morning coffee. Smiley staff and great banana bread. Good coffee too.
