5 best hidden food markets to explore in Barcelona - SilverKris

"A family‑run fishmonger that doubles as a bar where customers can pick fresh Mediterranean, Cantabrian or Atlantic fish to be cooked on site; popular dishes include seafood rice and sautéed octopus with shiitake and asparagus, blending market produce with immediate, cooked‑to‑order dining." - Mireia Font

Nice fish Market restaurantm they can make your fish even if you choose one from the fish shop. Food was very nice. Not much atmosphere for the price you pay

Excellent seafood, incredible quality. The chefs are all amazing and constantly cooking away with passion behind the counter. Highly recommend this place. The cockles were incredibly fresh, and not overloaded with garlic like they usually are in most places - it let the true quality and flavour shine through. The fried fish was the best we had in Barcelona.

Been traveling to Barcelona for over 29 years and I have to say, La Medusa 73 is one of the best seafood restaurants I always like to go to when I visit. They have great atmosphere in the Ninot Market, where I can enjoy a wonderful meal and also shop at the other vendors in the market for excellent ingredients to enjoy cooking and eating back at home. Came in today and was delighted by the wonderful staff. Very friendly and helpful and attentive to detail. They have a fish market alongside their food restaurant, so you can either buy it and take it home to cook (best to come in the morning for this part) or you save yourself the work and lets their professional chef and cooks do the hard work for you. They have beer on tap, and good wine as well to keep your thirst quenched and their work is not only delicious, it is beautiful. They can cook you a whole fresh fish in a couple different ways, they have tapas and the seafood here is never fishy. You must try their specials and seasonal fish offerings. When you are visiting the market for food supplies and get hungry or just in the mood for a great seafood meal, La Medusa 73 will never disappoint. They even make a great paella or a fideua if you want a nice pan of traditional cuisine for 2 or even 3. Have a wonderful time living in or traveling to Barcelona And 100% make a stop here for a great meal. Yum diddly Yum YUM! :-) Thank you for taking the time to read my review and hope you enjoy the delicious photos of the food we enjoyed and saw being delivered. Happy Eating my fellow Foodies!

Google
The scallops and garlic shrimps are exceptional. The black rice is okay, though it might just be me not being a big fan of seafood rice, as the flavour of its sauce always tastes a bit ambiguous to me. A bit expensive compared to the many tasty and more budget-friendly options in town.

Google
One of the best places to eat in a market. The people are so friendly and obviously love what they do. It’s simple, quality food at decent prices. Go early to avoid queuing for a space!!

Speechlessly delicious… super fresh and high quality ingredients, the team makes best use of them. The texture of toro is like high quality beef; here I learn what authentic and nice paella should taste like: I think I won’t eat any paella out of Spain again. Wine selection is nice and fits the dishes. The staff is friendly and humorous. Cooking in front of customers: best atmosphere to enjoy their gourmet. Will absolutely come back again!!

Everything was perfect, worth the line. Amazing service, food is next level for fish lovers, halal friendly! Nice people with nice food and product! Ajuti was a very nice waiter, very high quality Fish. I recommand the gambas kataif and the japanese style poulpo with aspargus and mushroom.

Located in a market, La Medusa stands out as an excellent place to get seafood tapas in Barcelona. Service is great, with an entertaining chef who clearly loves his job and a warm and animated maître d’ who ensures everyone gets a seat even if it gets crowded. Marinero paella and the Fideuà were the standout dishes, but you can’t leave without ordering gambas al ajillo (prawns cooked with some chilli). The seafood here is fresh, has a good bite and is well-seasoned. Price is reasonable as well. It was so good that we had to return right before we left Barcelona to get one last taste. Will return if I ever get the chance!

Yelp
Great little place tucked next to the grocery in the market hall. Staff is amazing! Menu is hand written. Bombas (like potato relleno without meat) are delish! Everything is so good including the hand cut fries. 10 out of ten!

Yelp
Yeah, this place was excellent. It's located in a very clean, local market, Mercat del Ninot. Much smaller than La Boqueria but way better maintained and nicer. It felt like a local market (which it is) and not completely overrun with tourists. The seafood was SO fresh. Everything we ordered was cooked in such a simple way, but the flavours were absolutely fantastic! Service was definitely friendly, welcoming, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Please keep in mind, this is not a typical restaurant. You're sitting at a seafood bar. Order a drink, enjoy watching the preparation of your food, and savour. At one point, our chef asked to take a photo with the lady next to me. I was wondering who that was and found out it was Carme Ruscalleda, a Michelin 3 star (total of 5 star) chef! She has 3 stars for her restaurant in Spain, and 2 more for the one in Tokyo! How cool is that???

Yelp
we felt so lucky that we actually found this place and had our last meal in Barcelona! The food is amazing from taste to presentation, they are so fresh and authentic! We were so full but still don't want leave so the chef cooked a special dish for us-Gambas and pig ear with pimiento Joro powder, I almost cried when I had the first bite!!! The taste is amazing! Can't even describe in words! 1000 recommendations food lovers!! Besides Mercat Del Ninot is much better than La Boiqueria:) if you are looking something very local.. Guess me and my boyfriend are the only tourists in that market:)

Yelp
Best price to quality (ambience, food, service) ratio we encountered in a city filled with overpriced tourist hotspots. Away from the mobs of tourist, primarily a local haunt, but also welcoming of tourists. While located in a mercado, it is clean (including the washrooms), not as crazy busy. Food was tasty and fresh. No matter how busy this small place was, they always served with a smile. This is the only eatery we can think of returning to among the ones we've tried.

Yelp
Really great atmosphere. It is in the fish market itself so look for the numbers to find it. We had the scallops, prawns, which I really liked. The octopus was also nice. Fast service, fresh and perfectly cooked.
