La Mezcalería

Armando shared his knowledge about Mezcal with us. He explained the different types of Agaves and shared the Mezcal process. After a few Mezcal, we needed some food. We got some tamales from across the street and Armando pull some plates and forks for us to enjoy our food while continue sipping Mezcal and learning more from him. If you can, please stop at this place. This experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Oaxaca. GRACIAS ARMANDO!

I wanted to try a lot of different types of artesanal mezcal and this is the place for it. I really liked the place and atmosphere. It was like I'm visiting grandpa who is really knowledgeable in mezcal, so he could help me to choose my favorite one. And since it's family it's not expensive. Please don't miss this place while you're in Oaxaca.

Can't say enough great things about this place. This is THE place to do a mezcal tasting that is affordable. 3 mezcals for 200 pesos. Run by a couple, Leticia was the absolute kindest host. I recommend you sit at the bar if you'd like to interact with the owners.

Armando, the Mezcal Maestro described the history of the Mezcal production in Oaxaca. He told us about the many, many palenques that he has visited and the varieties of Mezcal. He is a very knowledgeable Maestro, happy to share in a very engaging manner. The Mezcal selection is awesome! We let him guide us through the different Mezcales and had a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this place.

An amazing place to try a variety of mezcals. I came here on my own and tried their tasting option of three different mezcals for $200 (actually had two of those haha) - all were very different but very tasty. Moreover, the owners were very friendly and welcoming. Despite my limited Spanish skills, I had a lovely conversation with them - about mezcal, about different cultures, our families etc. Would highly recommend!

There are many places in Oaxaca Centro to sip mezcal and I have found my favorite place here at La Mezcaleria. The options are many, but not too many. The folks who own it are wonderful and so knowledgeable. Recommendations were made based upon each of our individual tastes and the suggestions were spot on. I can't say enough good things are La Mezcaleria.

A family Mezcaleria, small but very personal. Us 4 were able to talk and discuss the mezcal w the owners, more friendlier than if we were in a larger, “formal” place. enjoyed our tasting w you. Gracias.
