La Mezcalería

Had the chance to sit by the bar and talk with the owner, who very kindly explained us what we were drinking and tought us about mezcal. An amazing experience. They make their own worm salt, and it is delicious. Truly recommend this mezcaleria!

We really enjoyed our visit to La Mezcaleria. Armando was very knowledgeable and helped us select mezcals from 3 different women owned distilleries to try. This is a small and intimate tasting room and we enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with Armando. Don’t miss La Mezcaleria when in Oaxaca!

Armando shared his knowledge about Mezcal with us. He explained the different types of Agaves and shared the Mezcal process. After a few Mezcal, we needed some food. We got some tamales from across the street and Armando pull some plates and forks for us to enjoy our food while continue sipping Mezcal and learning more from him. If you can, please stop at this place. This experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Oaxaca. GRACIAS ARMANDO!

I wanted to try a lot of different types of artesanal mezcal and this is the place for it. I really liked the place and atmosphere. It was like I'm visiting grandpa who is really knowledgeable in mezcal, so he could help me to choose my favorite one. And since it's family it's not expensive. Please don't miss this place while you're in Oaxaca.

The bar is an amazing place for Mezcal lovers or first time explorers. It is run by a super friendly and experienced couple who share a lot of insights about the destilleries and the different kinds of Mezcals. The variety of their mezcal sortiment is impressive and the tasting offer is incredible. The prices are very fair. I'd say it is one of the best Mezcalbars in Central Mexico (after having the chance to try also some in Mexicocity and Puebla). Though the place is small - it was never crowded, and we've always found a place and felt very welcomed.

The best place to have a mezcal tasting, they have an infinite amount of different mezcals. Very cozy place, ask for Armando or Leticia, they will definitely take care of you. Prices are very good, very great experience here. If you are doing tasting try the jabali, cucharilla and sierra negra. 3 x 130 pesos

An amazing place to try a variety of mezcals. I came here on my own and tried their tasting option of three different mezcals for $200 (actually had two of those haha) - all were very different but very tasty. Moreover, the owners were very friendly and welcoming. Despite my limited Spanish skills, I had a lovely conversation with them - about mezcal, about different cultures, our families etc. Would highly recommend!
