Where to Find the Best Food in Cartagena, Colombia

"A cozy, unpretentious spot that channels mid-20th-century Colombian charm with antique tile floors, shuttered windows, and ceiling fans, this restaurant specializes in hearty Afro-Caribbean coastal dishes served in generous portions. Signature items include sancocho de pescado con coco, a comforting fish stew simmered in coconut milk with yuca and plantains, and posta Cartagenera, a local-style black beef roast cooked with cola and served over sweet, sticky coconut rice. Affordable and beloved by both locals and visitors, it’s a great place to experience authentic regional cuisine and cultural roots." - Ksenia Prints

La Mulata – Bold Flavors with a Side of South Beach Swagger La Mulata brings the heat—and we’re not just talking about the Miami sun. Tucked right on the lively streets of South Beach, this Cuban gem serves up flavor, flair, and a front-row seat to the best people-watching in town. Let’s talk food: the steak was bold and juicy (a little tough, but hey, it had character), and the rice? Worth writing home about. Fluffy, seasoned, and totally addictive. The black beans were straight-up heaven in a bowl—rich, savory, and soul-soothing. Now the $5 can of Coke? Yeah, that was some South Beach nonsense, but we’ll let it slide. What really stole the show was our server, Lany—absolute rockstar. Friendly, on point, and somehow conjured up a side of ranch like she was the sauce fairy. She kept the vibe relaxed and fun, which made the slightly bougie prices easier to swallow. Yes, it’s a little pricey—but this is South Beach, baby. If you’re craving Cuban comfort food with a luxe twist and killer curbside seating, La Mulata delivers with spice and style.

Came here for dinner to celebrate my friends bachelorette & everything was absolutely amazing! The staff was beyond friendly and attentive. The drinks were delicious and the meals we had were exquisite with the perfect amount of flavor. From the decor to their entertainment singer that they had we had an amazing experience! Can’t recommend more if you’re in the area and looking for delicious authentic Cuban food and vibes . Thank you to all the staff & our waiter Gabriel making our night so memorable!

First off our waitress, Bertha, was so sweet and helpful. She was welcoming and checked on us often. Second, the Scottish Salmon and it was delicious! I almost got the Cuban Sandwich and I’m glad I didn’t. My daughter got the Seafood Lobster and it was so delicious! 10/10 definitely recommend La Mulata!!

Google
My family and I just had breakfast here, and it wasn't that good. None of the food was hot and fresh. My Turkey Club was room temp, the French fries, steak and my wife's coffee were barely warm. The milk for the coffee was the only thing hot and fresh. Everything else seems like it's been just sitting out. Maybe they forgot to reheat the food. We did not go at a busy time. Perhaps it was a fluke experience, but based on today, we will not be going back again.

Oh my goodness—what an amazing dining experience! We ordered the fresh red snapper, recommended by our wonderful server Gabriel, and it was absolutely outstanding. The yellow rice and sweet plantains were equally delicious—flavorful and perfectly cooked. This charming little restaurant is a true hidden gem, and we even had the pleasure of meeting the lovely owner, who made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic, mouthwatering food with warm hospitality!

Google
Warm Hospitality & Hearty Cuban Fare at La Mulata We had a fantastic dining experience at La Mulata Cuban Restaurant, where our large group was warmly and efficiently taken care of by Gabriel. From start to finish, he was attentive not only to our needs but also to those of our guests—always one step ahead when it came to ensuring drinks were refilled and dishes arrived promptly. Gabriel also had great recommendations, quickly pointing out crowd favourites and helping us tailor our orders to suit the group. He checked in on us regularly throughout the meal, striking the right balance between being helpful and giving us space to enjoy ourselves. The food itself was excellent—flavourful, hearty, and true to the Cuban spirit. But be warned: the portions are seriously generous, so you may not need to order as much as you think upfront. Gabriel gave us a heads-up on this too, which we appreciated! All in all, La Mulata delivered a wonderful combination of good food, generous portions, and warm service. If you’re planning to visit with a group, you’re in good hands here—especially if Gabriel is on duty. Highly recommended for a fun, satisfying meal with vibrant vibes and excellent hospitality!

This was THE best breakfast I’ve had in Miami Beach! Everything is so fresh and authentic. I ordered the steak and eggs and my fiance ordered the Cuban breakfast. 10/10 recommend! The steak was super tender and full of flavor, and the portion sizes were worth cost! Our server was Isabel and she was awesome!

Google
Had an absolutely amazing lunch at this restaurant. It was so cute and decorated nicely. Truly felt like I was transported to Cuba. We started with the chicken empanadas, which were perfectly crisp on the outside and packed with rich, savory flavor. The ropa vieja was tender, deeply seasoned, and full of character—easily one of the best we’ve had. The roasted chicken was juicy, beautifully marinated, and fell off the bone with ease. What truly made our day unforgettable was our server, Emin. He was not only attentive and knowledgeable, but also incredibly kind and genuine. His recommendations were spot-on, and his energy added so much to our experience. You can tell he cares deeply about both the food and the guests. We’ll definitely be coming back—and bringing friends. La Mulata is a gem!

Yelp
We had a great dining experience at this restaurant. Delicious and well prepared food, attentive and friendly staff, and great restaurant vibe! Defo not a tourist trap!

Yelp
Music was on point, salsa, bachata, good mixes of old and new music. Ropa viejo and ceviche were perfectly cooked. Roasted mango in the ceviche with plaintain chips - delicious. Daylyn provides prompt, attentive, and playful service. Exactly what you want for a night out.

Yelp
Dishonest and Overpriced - Avoid This Place This place is a total scam. First, they refuse to offer you tap water -- instead, they automatically bring out expensive bottled water without asking, and you're stuck paying for it. They will try to say they offered tap water but that is a lie. They also heavily advertise live music starting at 8:00 PM, but by 8:30, there was no music at all. It's just a bait-and-switch to lure people in. If you're dining with kids, don't bother ordering juice -- they charge for every single drink with no refills, and don't tell you that upfront. Just more hidden charges. And to top it off, they sneak in a mandatory 20% tip -- regardless of your group size -- without saying a word about it. It's not posted, it's not mentioned, and you only find out when the bill shows up. Extremely shady. Between the surprise fees, false advertising, and overall dishonesty, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.

Yelp
I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at La Mulata was poor enough that it deserves to be shared. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was overwhelmingly loud--so much so that we couldn't even hear our waitress explain the menu. Unfortunately, things only went downhill from there. When we politely pointed out that our drink order had been messed up, the waitress responded with visible annoyance. She gave us a stink face and essentially ignored us for the rest of the evening, which made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. The food was no saving grace, either. My chicken dish was undercooked and cold on the inside, like it had just come out of the refrigerator. The rest of the meal wasn't any better--easily the worst Cuban food I've ever had. Add to that the steep prices and the fact that a mandatory 20% tip is included (regardless of the service quality), and it's hard to see how this place justifies its reputation or its prices. Sadly, La Mulata was a major letdown. Between the terrible service, poorly prepared food, and loud, chaotic atmosphere, we won't be returning--and I'd caution others to think twice before dining here.

Yelp
Was craving a Cuban and this place definitely stood up to the expectation! Stop by if you're visiting!

Yelp
This was one of the best meals we've had in a while. The service was impeccable and the food incredibly delicious. It is an authentic Cuban restaurant with people who care about what you're being served. As pictured, we ordered a pitcher of coconut mojitos. The sticks of sugar cane took me back to my childhood. The mojitos were perfectly balanced. For the appetizer we ordered the grilled octopus and the chicken empanadas. That octopus was delicious--grilled and accompanied with tomatoes and potatoes that had an oil and aioli sauce. The flank steak was incredibly tender and seasoned very nicely. For dessert we had the tres leches. It will be hard to beat this food this weekend!

Yelp
We had the most positive experience at La Mulata (we actually went twice) from the moment we were greated at the door. The food was excellent especially the ropa vieja, the frozen cocktails were too good but best of all the two servers Bertha and Yadira they were so sweet, attentive and lovely!! Check it out you won't regret it.

Yelp
We stayed at Esme right across the street and the vibe just outside of this restaurant was inviting. We were set immediately after being greeted by the very nice hostess. She explained to us what specials were going on and also advised of the best selections. We tried the empanadas the Cubano sandwich and the calamari and everything was fresh, hot and delicious Service was friendly and attentive and everything came out in good time. Definitely worth dropping in for a good meal.

Yelp
We chose this restaurant to experience Cuban authentic cuisine. We ordered that nachos appetizer, mixed grill and chicken parm. There were 4 in our group. Two adults and two teens. The steak on the mixed grill was tough. The chicken was ok the shredded beef was delicious. Nachos were good and my kids liked the chicken parm. The reason for the 3 stars is the food came out late and not nice and hot. Our waitress was nice but she seemed to have a table of people that she kept going back to and spending lots of time with them which led us To believe that's why our food was so late and cold. They automatically charge a 20% service fee which is the norm here in most restaurants. That may affect the service provided. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant. I would try another spot next time.

Yelp
This was a great Cuban meal at reasonable prices! We enjoyed all the food we got and would recommend people to try it for themselves. They have indoor and outdoor seating and were very quick with our food and service!

Yelp
I grabbed a late dinner here on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy! I was welcomed so warmly by the lovely hostess and was seated immediately outside. It took a minute to get water and a menu but I was able to order pretty quick! I tried the croquettes and the empanadas with ropa vieja. The croquettes were solid and the presentation was nice. I didn't love the empanadas as much; the braided part of the crust was way too hard and crunchy compared to the rest of the pastry. Both aiolis were delish! I did feel like both apps were overpriced for what you got but that may be par for the area. Great corner to sit and people watch!
google avatar

Kyle L.

Yelp
La Mulata was packed when we dined. My party ordered their mixed meat special, which came with two small sides. We also indulged in an order of croquettes and empanadas. The croquettes stood out the most to me. The outer crust was this unique soft, sticky texture that broke down slowly as you bit into it. The beef was tender and the melted cheese blended everything perfectly. I thought the empanadas were pretty standard but the green sauce that came with it was delicious. The meat platter included sausage, but isn't pictured bc they originally forgot to give it to us. The steak and sausage were my favorites, but everything was great!! My only complaint is that the sides were pretty small portions. We asked for more rice and they charged us an additional $8 for a bowl of white rice :/(
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
La Mulata is a solid option in a touristy area! Really cool decor & vibe, lively and energetic, good service and food! Thought the cuban sliders were pretty good and the ropa vieja was solid. Empanadas were great (and the highlight) No beans with the ropa vieja, and they were like $8 extra! I know, it's south beach, but wow. I'd def return as it's easy and convenient.
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
3.5 stars for the food but 5 stars for the service. Our server was impressively in tune with if we needed more time and when to check in, as well as proactively addressing our needs. I was pretty impressed. The food was not as great. Actually really liked the apps - empanadas and croquettes, and accompanying sauces added another layer of flavor. The paella though was very average, but maybe it's a Cuban take on the dish and just not my favorite. The skirt steak was kind of chewy. When I had similar dishes at Manta later in the trip, I thought it was much better there.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our Cuban dinner in South Beach. Server Rosa was very friendly and helpful. She made excellent recommendations re menu. Indoor and outdoor seating. We shared: Empanadas. Avocado Salad. Paella. Tres Leches cake. All very enjoyable. Prices are decent. Very pleasant meal.

Yelp
Alfredo is the best! An amazing mojito and Cuban coffee! Who could ask for more? A short walk from the beach and an amazing atmosphere
google avatar

Ferdie R.

Yelp
Craving for some authentic Cuban food, and this place hit the spot, it's in a busy corner of Espanola Way where all the outdoor restaurants are. Service was on point with Rosa, she's very friendly and great in knowing the type of dishes we were looking for. Ambience is nice where you can people watch as they go pass by. Place was clean with Latin music playing as well as the washroom being well maintained. Overall, if you're looking for some authentic Cuban food and others, this is it!

Yelp
Wow....! What an authentic Cuban food experience and the staff were over the top fantastic. I chose the ropa vieja which was one of the best I have had. There are plenty of Cuban restaurants but this is well worth trying and making it your new favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing but good things about this place! Food and drinks 10/10! Service 10/10! Ambience 10/10. Special shout out to my serve Rose! She was super sweet and took her time to go over the menu with us. Her recommendations on the food and drinks were A1! Cuban food is one of my favorite cuisines to eat. The pineapple , passion fruit and coconut mojito were all good but the passion fruit was my favorite. For food we ordered Pesca Malecón, Ropa Vieja and Paella Habanera. I highly recommend trying all of these and trying this wonderful restaurant. They also offer happy hour and outdoor seating. Next time I in Miami, I will definitely be back here.
google avatar

Yelp
With 4.7 stars I was expecting an absolutely mouth watering meal and service! We came on a Sunday for 12pm lunch and it was not crowded which was nice but the service was extremely slow and the food was mediocre at best. I know this is a chain of other restaurants which I have actually ate at and enjoyed! The seating on the outside with the fans was very nice in the Florida heat! We have a shrimp Cesar salad to start and a pitcher of red sangria. The sangria tasted more like a mix than freshly made, yes I know a mojito or something else would have been a better choice. The Cuban sandwich looked like it was feeling the effects of bidenomics, very thin with barely any meat and mostly bread. For a side I tried the yuka mojo which was bland. It might have just been an off day but Sunday lunch I was expecting great service and food. I will give it another try just based on the amazing ratings!

Yelp
To say this restaurant is just delicious would be an understatement! I would give this restaurant a 100/5 if I could. If you're in Miami, you absolutely have to pay this restaurant a visit. We came on a Monday evening and were able to be seated within 15 minutes. While waiting, the nice host continuously updated us about how much longer it would take to be seated, which I appreciated. Once we sat at our table, we carefully looked through the menu, placed our orders and patiently waited for our meals. The wait for our food was a little bit longer than we had hoped, but after taking a bite of the food, it made the wait soooo worth it! Lechon Asado A La Guajira (5/5): The pork was so tender and went so well with the crispy pieces of chicharron. The moro rice was also really good but I wasn't too fond of the boiled yuca. Churrasco Encebollado A La Casera (5/5): Perfect in every way from the skirt steak, to the beans, to the freshest pico I have ever tasted in my life. Every bite had my mouth watering for the next. The main takeaway is that everything was perfection. Our server was so nice and was very attentive to our needs. The vibes at the restaurant were incredible, from the music, the lighting, everything! I think I have found my new favorite Cuban restaurant. If I didn't live across the country, I would come here every week! Thank you La Mulata!

Yelp
Found this restaurant from all the positive Yelp reviews. We wanted an authentic Cuban dinner while in Miami. La Mulata was perfect. Started with empanadas, mojitos (2 for 1 night), then I got the Cuban sandwich which was so good but enough for two. My husband got the roasted pork Cuban style dinner, then my daughter got the Sabrositos three small sliders. All really good! The banana chips are the best I've had! We sat inside but a number of people were eating outside. If you are looking for great Cuban food, fun atmosphere and awesome service, this is a must try restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I were craving a Cuban sandwich. We initially went to go to Havana 1957, but found the hostess there to be extremely rude. We therefore crossed the street and went here instead. This offers the same cuisine, but for cheaper prices. The decor was super sweet. The service was efficient and very friendly. The Cuban sandwich was very nice. We recommend this spot and will certainly return.

Yelp
Review #1,500!! And I couldn't think of a more deserving spot than La Mulata! La Mulata is a local, traditional, family owned Cuban spot sitting at the corner of Española Way and Washington Avenue in South Beach. On our first night in Miami, we of course were scoping out Latin/Cuban spots that were within walking distance of our hotel, and La Mulata popped up and became the spot! Yelp certainly did not steer us wrong with this one. La Mulata is a small spot, possibly more seating outdoors than indoors! They have a small bar you can belly up to in addition to a few two and four tops inside. Outside, the sidewalks are set with the same variety of tables but are covered and spaced out with fans to keep those who are brave enough to eat outdoors cool. We opted for an indoor table by the window, so we got the essence of outdoors with the comfort of indoors. To keep in theme, La Mulata has an old Havana style in decor from floor to ceiling. Lots of vibrant colors, artwork and even a clothes line draped with clothes draped from window to window above the tables. To start our experience we tossed an order in for chicken empanadas and a round of mango mojitos. Both were phenomenal, especially the mojito! For dinner we went super traditional with a Cuban sandwich on one side and the ropa vieja on the other. Both dishes were expertly prepared, hot, fresh and delivered to the table within just a few moment. To make a long story short, it was delicious!! As if the food wasn't good enough, the service we received from entry to exit was next level! Lany, our server was beyond friendly and an absolutely pleasure! She was kind, funny, and easily the best waitress we had while in Miami! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at La Mulata. It certainly made the recommendation list, along with the "must return" list!

Yelp
We visited Miami during Valentine's Day weekend and tried La Mulata because we were in the mood for some authentic Cuban food. The owner was very nice and accommodating as we ate our food. She gave us some of her homemade hot sauce and it was hot and delicious! We loved our food so much, we went back the night before we flew out to get the red snapper one more time before coming back to LA. The drinks were ok, but the food was delicious and the staff was friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I love Cuban cuisine and was definitely not disappointed with the food here. Our meal started with plantain chips so we didn't order an appetizer but I had been eyeing the nachos. I got the paella habanero, there was so much flavor in this dish and I got full before finishing and still endured to its end. My wife got the Caribbean garlic shrimp and It was also amazing and packed with flavor. Our waiter was very friendly and we got our food quick enough. Two days later we ate breakfast here but ate inside. I got the steak and eggs and was just amazed at the tender meat and the presentation of the plate. This place is just so beautiful. I highly recommend

Yelp
We didn't have reservations on a Saturday night at about 7:30pm but the hostess was able to seat us at their last table available inside. The place was very nicely decorated, looking like a little apartment in Cuba with a clothes line full of clothing items. Patricio greeted us and took our drink orders. He then came back and poured my sparkling water while we ordered. We decided to split the Cuban Salad, Ropa Vieja Grandma Style, and Roasted Pork Cuban Style. Patricio brought us a basket of complimentary Plantain Chips. They were crunchy and yummy! The Salad was lightly dressed with mango vinaigrette and the mango chunks, raisins, and Cuban cheese all went well together with the greens. The Roasted Pork was perfect with the "moro" rice and the boiled yuca. By itself the yuca was salty but the combined with the pork and rice, the flavors melded together making the dish delicious. The winner was the Ropa Vieja. Its red sauce over the rice tantalized my taste buds. I highly recommend it. A glass of Chianti enhanced the meats and was a good pour. I opted to have a Coconut Mojito for dessert after seeing every table having mojitos. Patricio was very attentive for most of the meal until the end when he got slammed with a 13 top. It was understandable. He did his best to bring the bill to another table when they requested it. My mojito took a little time and then he brought us our check when we requested it.

Yelp
We stopped in for some drinks and a snack and were immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess and manager. The friendliness continued throughout our visit, from the bartender to bussers; easily some of the best service we've had in South Beach. The place is cute, colorful, and open. Really an enjoyable afternoon. The only hiccup were the nachos, which were overpriced and forgettable.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and service were exceptional. Diego, our server, was awesome and super friendly. Loved it and will be back next Miami trip
google avatar

Yelp
Located on the corner of Washington and Española Way you'll find La Mulata Cuban. The dishes are authentic and flavorful! Dining options are indoor or street side patio seating under a covered lighted umbrella. The only unfavorable table happens to be the table we chose...it's right next to cross walk post with continuous "beeping". Dayliñ was our lovely server! Her service was prompt and they are happy to have you dine here. We tried a few things. Salmon Tartare, Churrasco Steak, Grilled Salmon, plantains & flan! Plantain chips come with the water service. The rice and black beans are fantastic! The flan is amazing! The salmon was grilled to perfection with a nice crisp to the sear and everything else was very good.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Big shareable portions The waitress showed us specials from her phone. We got a meat sampler. Paella Especial $120 Meat Mix Grill (Parrillada de Carnes) $85 Ropa Vieja Grandma Style $26 shredded beef cooked with peppers, onions, garlic and red wine. Served with with rice and sweet plantains Only thing I was change is that the guava mojito didn't have any guava flavor Very friendly happy staff. Host was welcoming and dancey. Waitress was so sweet, smooth with the menu suggestions. Love her energy

Yelp
Went to this restaurant on a Tuesday night not realizing it was actually connected to Alma Cubana down the street ! Lol Flavia our server was outstanding and made the night with her attentive serving - 1st rate ! - awesome job ! the food simply delicious and scored a double hit with the flattened skirt steak and Ropa Vieja Grandma Style - perfect dishes and very very filling. We'll be back !

Yelp
Amazing authentic Cuban braised flank steak.....so juicy and flavorful. Mojitos personally poured by Alfredo the bar manager. I travel to Miami for work and the flavors here keep me craving work assignments to Miami so I can visit La Mulata. Best Cuban hospitality on South Beach.

After looking around for a Cuban restaurant that would satisfy my palate and I found it!!! "La Mulata" This is the place if you recognize and appreciate the so called "Authentic Cuban food " I order ropa vieja, the food is simply The Best! The ambiance is a cute cozy Cuban corner with items that reflects their love for Cuba. Now, the service is Outstanding! Yadira went above and beyond assisting Everyone with a beautiful smile respect professionalism The place was super busy and I Never saw her get frustrated. She's Great! I highly recommend this restaurant in Miami Beach Florida

Yelp
On a quick job in Miami and since I was staying in south beach I def wanted the best the city can provide -- in Cuban cuisine. I made the trek from my hotel and found La Mulata. Because of its rave reviews I knew kinda what I wanted. A typical Cuban dish. I went with the Lechon Asado with its Caribbean Latin sides of Mojo (rice and beans) and switch it up from yuca to sweet plantains bc I love them since I was a kid living in Costa Rica. The wonderful thing about Latin cuisine is that they are all different yet the same. It's partly nostalgic but also such a treat. The service by Yordano the server was prompt, gracious, and quick -- got my food in less than 5 minutes!! Properly bc the lechon is cooking all night and day in those wonderful juices!! Omg it was all that I imagined! The restaurant has nice outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. Would def return to try more traditional Cuban dishes! ;-)

Yelp
Must eat here when in Miami! Such a cute restaurant , great service and delicious authentic Cuban food. Rosa our server and Gabriella owner had great hospitality!

Yelp
The dinner was amazing! The best Cuban food I have EVER HAD!! The Braised Beef, riced beans, plantains, garlic shrimp! Patricio was our waiter and his service was TOP TIER!! Of course our girl Rose came through and showed us some love as well!! The atmosphere the music, the vibe was great! We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful Miami weather. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
This review is just for the dessert, but know this spot has the best flan on Espanola Way! My friend had never tried flan before and wanted to get flan and tres leches while we were in Miami. We found this spot on Yelp. I'm so happy we did too! It was a cold night, so we were really happy with the heated outdoor seating. The space smelled delicious and the bowls of paella we passed looked and smelled incredible. The service was a bit strange, but we were happy to be given the time to sit longer and talk with each other. The tres leches was pretty good, but I've had better. I haven't had a flan that good in a long time. I loved the presentation of both desserts. I highly recommend stopping here for a flan.
google avatar

Carol L.

Yelp
This restaurant where we were sitting inside, was absolutely freezing. The people that were sitting at the table next to us all had put their sweaters and jackets on in order to stay in the restaurant. It was so uncomfortably cold. I would not go back here again because it was difficult to enjoy sitting there and eating and ice cold temperatures. If that wasn't enough, the manager at this restaurant could be heard, screaming, and yelling From the kitchen at her employees. But a terrible way to treat your employees. I definitely don't want to hear a boss yelling and screaming at their employees while I'm trying to enjoy a relaxing meal. The waitress was wonderful and running around like crazy the stones were delicious And the sweet bananas were delicious. There are not a whole lot of choices here that don't include pasta in every dish. The flan was delicious.

Yelp
Well the location is nice and the food is ok it's hard when you are in the middle of so many great restaurants - service was really good

Wanted to try authentic Cuban food after getting off a cruise ship. We've found this place due to a good review. This place was a tourist trap! This place was empty other than one table. Asked for a tap water and got a weird look. Wanted to sell me overpriced drinks. Well for the food.... Mediocre at the best. We've order Cuban sandwich and Seafood Pasta. Sandwich was just ok but Seafood pasta was very salty and not enough seafood (for $38 plate). As others mentioned mandatory 20% tip was included. Don't bother going to this place. Don't know why it has a high review score.

Yelp
Our waitress recommended the Enchilada De Marisco. I'm so glad I followed her suggestion as it was one of the yummiest meal I had in Miami. The name is a bit deceiving. There's no flour tortilla. Instead, it's a seafood stew with rice and plantains. So fulfilling! My husband had the Cubana sandwich. Bread was toasted and meat was delicious. Also, def try the passion fruit mojito. It came with a large slice of sugar cane. Meals came with fried plantain chips.

Yelp
Went to La Mulata Cuban Restaurant in Washington Avenue. Ropa Vieja Grandma style is my favorite I already had it a couple times. It is shredded beef with onion, peppers, garlic and red wine and it was so good and tasty! Fried Calamari for appetizers and Tres Leches Sponge Cake to complete the meal. They are all delicious! Service was good. Great music, vibrant and homey atmosphere. Check it out!

Yelp
Came around 10 am on a Saturday and there was plenty of seating inside and outside. Our server Arturo was attentive and quick. We got the cubanito omelette and Mi Pueblo, portions were good and very well made. I can tell the ingredients were high quality. Bathrooms and restaurant are clean! Highly recommend.

Yelp
The place is not big but it's very homey, it's Very clean for a place that caters to lots of tourist the restroom is spotless, happy to have walked 16 minutes to come here with my mom and sister. Yadira took care of us. The food is delicious we had the chefs special meats which it's for 2 but all 3 of us ate. I was surprised when my mom started complimenting the food. The food and the service is very good. 10/10

Yelp
The ambience and service was very good. You feel like you eat in Havana. However, cannot say the same thing for the food. Food wasn't bad but It was very pricey. And for that price I would expect much better quality and bigger portions.

Yelp
We stopped at this restaurant in hopes of happy hour that they were promoting. There is no happy hour, we paid $32 for 2 watered down sangria. We were told drinks were buy one get off free, apparently this is only after the second round. The food was also so so, and they charge 20% gratuity for party of 2. Would not recommend.

Yelp
My friends and I had a great first dinner in Miami Beach here! We made reservations ahead of time so it was simple to get a table upon arrival. Our table split an order of the croquettes and guacamole. Both were excellent, especially the texture of the croquettes. I got their Cuban sandwich for my dinner, and while it was a hefty portion it was scrumptious! I love trying different versions of Cuban sandwiches and this was didn't disappoint! We also got tasty digestif shots at the end of our dinner. Our waitress, Rosa, was very attentive and friendly as well. Would recommend!

Yelp
A South Beach Gem Worth Every Penny! I haven't been to South Beach in over 10 years, so I'm definitely out of the loop on what's hot down here. On a whim, my mom and I stopped at La Mulata Cuban Restaurant for lunch--and WOW, what a great idea! From the start, the service was top-tier. Our waitress (wish I remembered her name!) was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I had my pup with me, and without even asking, she brought out a bowl of cold water with ice just for him--how sweet is that? I asked about the popular dishes, and she gave a few recommendations. I ordered the Seafood Lobster (Enchilado de Mariscos)--half lobster tail, shrimp, seafood mix with red and green peppers, onions, and garlic in a rich Habana sauce. Served with white rice and sweet plantains. My mom went with the Caribbean Garlic Shrimp (Camarones al Ajillo)--shrimp sautéed in garlic, olive oil, and white wine, also with white rice and sweet plantains. Both dishes were five stars and came with generous portions--we had to get doggie bags! Before the entrees, they served us warmed plantain chips--yes, warmed--and now I'm ruined for life. The plantains that came with our meals were sweet as all heck. So flavorful. Ugh, wish NYC wasn't so far--I'd order this for dinner tonight if I could. We knew going in that Miami prices would be up there--my dish was $42, my mom's was $32--but honestly, it was worth every cent. The food, service, and experience all hit the mark. We dined outside, so I can't speak to the indoor setup, but the outdoor seating is beautiful. Plenty of space with extra tables on the side and a flower-decked area that looks like it was added during COVID. It was the perfect spot to relax and soak up the Miami vibes. I'm already planning to come back. Don't miss this gem!
