As Italians we can guarantee that this place is really really good! Fresh cheese and Italian goods/ingredients, as week the pizza is really state of the art for Italian standards. We really enjoyed our stay. Welcoming staff and proficiency in English, we were able to exchange some thoughts and compliments. Really worth it! Prices are cheap if you consider the really high quality of ingredients!

We ordered pizza and potatoes, probably a bad choice... we didn’t love our pizza, not a lot of taste. BUT every other meal looked so so good! We regretted not getting one of the delicious looking pasta. Vary expensive for Mexico ... Good service! Only two waitresses managed a full restaurant very well. Still, if I was the owner I would bring more staff..

Very good service, food is quite good... they’ve been cooking Italian food for the last 20 years. Will give it five star for the overall experience.

Like many others have noted, the service here is clearly lacking - not in friendliness or politeness but in speed. They give you complimentary bread right away but it was very stale and dry. The wood fired pizza came in about 15 minutes (we got the seafood one for 189 pesos and I would say it was worth it and delicious) but our next two dishes took another 30-40 minutes! We got the pesto pasta (199 peso, delicious, heavy on the olive oil though) and the wood fire grilled vegetables (187 peso, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND, small - see photo, oily, burnt, and missing vegetables listed on the menu like asparagus, mushrooms, and broccoli!!). I'm not sure why they took so long but the server (Joel?) also gave us the wood fire grilled fish which we did not order. He was very apologetic and took it back after talking to the manager and they didn't charge us for it so that was good but we still felt bad and awkward. Thankfully, they also did not include the 10% tip in our bill that some reviewers mentioned. All in all, the price isn't exorbitant and other than the vegetables, the food we had was good, but the slow service is off putting and should be noted and worked on.

Surprise! Food is authentic and more-ish! We sampled the bruschetta, lasagna and Hawaiian Pizza. We had a Victoria and Montejo beer (we preferred Victoria). Happy Campers!

Google
La Nave is a great place to eat . I ate here 6 years ago and have just recently ate here again. There were 3 things on my to do list for Tulum this time and they were Cenotes, Ruins and Pizza (La Nave). All 3 did not disappoint and met expectations. I shared a Pizza and a Salad and had I had more time I would have ate here again. The Prices are Good.

Google
Classic selection of pasta and pizze cooked al dente. I had fusilli alla puttanesca and a glass of Chianti. Service is attentive. Sitting on the main road, there is plenty of people watching, for those who care. Overall, recommended for a small town like Tulum, wouldn’t be a draw in a larger city as a few essential things are missing (uninspired bread basket, wine could be better for the price).

Yelp
We had the most incredible meal here. We stumbled upon this place after walking around late at night and getting a little bit lost looking for another restaurant that it moved. We love the vibe from outside so we decided to try it out and once we arrived upstairs we were greeted with lovely live music and a beautiful ambience. The lighting in here is just perfect and the food was amazing. We had a seafood platter that made our night an incredible pizza that we had half that night and the rest for lunch and a lovely salad with falafel and hummus. The drinks were perfectly mixed and not too sweet. Our waiter Alex was kind as can be and we enjoyed talking with him and having a few laughs. Overall I will give this place 10 stars if I could. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The manager was enjoyable to talk to you and the entire vibe including the incredible music made our night. Thanks Alex!!!

Yelp
This food was absolutely astounding. We ordered the vegetariano antipasto, and let me tell you... WOW they do not skimp. It came with olives, roasted peppers, a few different types of cheese, artichoke, grilled veggies, an entire pizza of toasted dough!!! And most important bruschetta. We also ordered pasta arrabiata, as well as the baked eggplant pasta (I forget what it was exactly called) but it was so delicious. I'm from NYC and we have some of the best Italian food in the world and this restaurant in Tulum Downtown ranks right next to them. Extremely affordable too! And the place itself it super cool as it has a lofted area, an extensive wine and beverage list and is open but airy enough to sit down and not be too hot whilst eating your meal. Bellissimo!

Yelp
Great pasta dish! It's not what was on the menu but they were more than willing to accommodate. I would definitely try out this place if your in the mood for Italian food. I will definitely dine here again before I leave Tulum.

Yelp
La Nave is recommended for their pizza, and the Lobster Pizza does its job. The thin-crust is nice and crisp, and the sauce is great. The prices are probably comparable to the rest of the town, but we appreciate not paying the beach premium for a night. The Smoothies are awesome! If you don't like sugar, do not order, but otherwise I love the mango, papaya, and melon. The orange, chayo, and pineapple is really refreshing. I hate vegetables in smoothies, but this one converted me! The 4 Formaggi Gnocchi is not as goold. The gnocchi are well-made, but the cream sauce is just too much. You can't taste any cheese in there, nevermind four. La Nave is cute and fun. Staff are friendly, and it's a great place to go to smoothies. Just stick to the pizza.

Yelp
Wow. What a disappointment. We ate here a few nights ago with my parents and thought the food was good so we returned again tonight. Food was terrible. I am astounded at the inability to even replicate the same dish they made only a couple of nights earlier. The food seemed as though someone's younger brother had whipped it up between prolonged gaming sessions. Funghi Pasta- supposed to be a variety of mushrooms. There was one type of mushroom. Shitake. Bland preparation. Bland fettuccine that tasted defrosted. Almost no seasoning. Just bad. 0/5 stars. Limon pasta- Limon served with a heavy cream while no cream is mentioned anywhere in the description. Dish had to be sent back to eye rolls and an incredulous attitude. We requested Limon with olive oil and perhaps some garlic as a suitable replacement. What came back was what appeared to be naked pasta on the plate but upon further inspection was what we asked for although one would not know that by looking at the white pasty pile of noodles lying there looking absolutely unappetizing. 0/5 stars. Marinara Pizza- this was the most pedestrian attempt at a pizza I have tasted. Some very bland tomato sauce that was really nothing more than their pasta sauce spread over the dough. They sprinkled it with some dried oregano and finished it off with splotches of garlic. I regret to have to report that this meal too was highly unappetizing. 0/5 stars. Spinach oglio olio pepperoncino (or whatever its called)- Terrible. A bland sauteed spinach. Absolutely nothing about this said "prepared at a restaurant by a chef". The smoothies however are very delicious. So whomever made those did a good job and provided us with the only source of satisfaction at our meal and salvaged this one star review for a two star review. When it all boils down. I honestly do not think the chef was working. I had eaten here before and had decent food but this was atrocious and seemed like everything was made by someone that lacked real world cooking experience. If it's true that no two people will play music off of a sheet the same way then this must also apply to following a recipe. It seemed that whomever made this meal was going through the motions and was present in body only. Service left much to be desired as well (when compared to "average" table service at restaurants in Tulum). Ultimately I wish that they had given me any reason to ever return but after a significant outlaying of cash and being horribly disappointed I don't think i'll ever give the opportunity to give La Nave as the risk/reward on that proposition is way out of balance in the wrong direction.

Yelp
The first time I came here earlier in the year it was amazing! The food this time was great as well but they totally forgot my boyfriends order and seemed rather unapologetic and unbothered by it. We waited an hour nearly from the time my food was served until his was brought out. Yummy food but somewhat subpar service and customer service.

Yelp
We were so tired of our disgusting all inclusive food, so we decided to go explore. This place was excellent! I got the spaghetti Bolognese, and my husband got the lasagne. They were both delicious! Also our waitress was super friendly, and told us about some fun stuff to do that we wouldn't have found out about at our hotel. It was great to get an unbiased opinion about activities. The drinks were great too. I left feeling so happy, and I'm Probly not going to eat another meal at my resort after tasting good food again

Yelp
Excelent our favorite dinner spot hands down. We have gone to this restaurant twice now and had delicious food both times. Portions, taste and service are wonderful. The caprese salad, prosciutto/Brie pizza and mushroom pizza are delicious. We have a week left in Tulum and will definitely be back! They have a sign that the my deliver too. Next time I need to save room for dessert.

Yelp
A great option if you want a break from all of the delicious seafood and Mexican dishes in Tulum. Actually, there are quite a few very high quality Italian places in town for some reason, and La Nave is definitely on that list. I had the pomodoro salad, which at first glance looked like it was going to be quite boring as it was just a bunch of sliced tomatoes, some oregano, and sliced onions on top. But the tomatoes were so fresh and delicious that it really took the salad above and beyond! I also had the Contadina pizza without the sausage (as I don't eat pork), and even without the meat it was quite tasty. It's a crispy thin crust so it's not a gut bomb. And the best part... the prices are nice and low, especially compared to some of the overpriced places along the beach. Definitely head to La Nave if you're in the mood for a pizza fiesta!

Yelp
Pretty good meal and good service. Located right in downtown Tulum. We started with the beef carpaccio. It was excellent! We had the caprese... blahhh, penne ala vodka..simple but delicious and the hand made linguini with lobster...tasty but would try something different next time. We would come back.

Yelp
My wife and I stay at Tulum for 4 days and we had dinner here for two nights. This is the best pasta/Italian restaurant. They have the home made pasta and pizza with various dishes. Very yummy. If you are missing delicious food from home here is the place to go! Waiters are very friendly and helpful, at night a local folk singer will sing and play guitar during dinner. The atmosphere is very cozy. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
I ordered the burina pizza which has tomato, mozzarella, broccoli, garlic and sausage but I substituted the sausage with mushrooms . To be honest , the cheese tasted weird to me . It didn't taste like fresh mozzarella but I did like the thin crust . I also ordered the fettuccini pasta with mushrooms . Unlike most fettuccini I've had , the sauce was with olive oil and not cream so it wasn't so heavy. It was a simple and light pasta .The mushrooms were very flavorful and the pasta itself is handmade. Overall very mediocre. I've definitely had better Italian food

Yelp
Really bad service from a guy who rolled his eyes at us when asking questions. He hasn't asked if we wanted any water and were at the main course. He has a major attitude. The food is so bland. No flavor. No spices. Just a ton of oil garlic and straight up tomato sauce with no flavor. Really disappointing dishes. Last time I went here the food was really great. But this time they must have a different chief. And a really awful waiter. It's really bad tonight. One dish was "mixed" mushrooms and they have 1 kind of mushroom in the dish. Another was a lemon pasta dish and it was a huge pile of Alfredo pasta with a lemon to squeeze on top. Never coming here again. This waiter really made the whole dinner awful. The place is empty and he hasn't come over 1 time to ask if we're okay.

Yelp
I would give zero if I could but this doesn't allow it. My husband asked for shrimp ravioli and they were gross they were filled with something else that smelled and tasted awful. I got the spicy shrimp and they were bad and not spicy at all. Owner didn't even want to show his face when we complained and he was around. For the record we were a big table and 4 people tried it and agreed on the ravioli. Owner is not worth your time and this place is not worth your money. If you want good Italian go to La Onda.

Yelp
Based on my experience and the reviews posted here, looks like this is a hit or miss. From my experience it was down the middle. Nothing special. Be aware of the 10% auto-gratuity that's being put on your bill.

Yelp
Craving Italian food for a change, we went to this highly recommended restaurant. We had pizza Margherita and linguine al cartoccio (with seafood). Pizza was good, not precisely "Italian", not delicious, but good enough to be enjoyed. Linguine were surprisingly very good, not too saucy, "al dente" and tasty in a simple way, as they should be. Definitely recommendable.

Yelp
This review is for breakfast. It unfortunately was not very good. Perhaps because it is not their specialty? The people were nice and the space was nice. Also fyi the kitchen doesn't open for breakfast until 8:30

Yelp
This is a classic in Tulum since 1997, Fernando the owner, was the first pizzero that settled in this paradise.. Outstanding Italian food and they make the best pizza in Town.

Yelp
The broccoli with cheese and béchamel sauce was AMAZING. Definitely order that if you come here, it's the best thing ever.

Yelp
Small little local Italian restaurant. We sipped for lunch and had their pizza. Food was good and the service as well.

Yelp
Had a very nice Italian dinner here last night. Bruschetta app, 2 glasses of Italian wine, a pizza, a calzone and a cappuccino for around equivalent of $30 usd. Everything was very good, for Italian food in Mexico. Recommend this place if you are looking for a nice dinner of something other than Mexican food. It's on the main drag through tulum on the right side if you are heading south.

Yelp
This is BY FAR my favorite restaurant for Italian food in Tulum! I frequented this place in 2006-2007 and was delighted to find they were still here and still as good as I remembered. I'm surprised by some of the reviews because the consistency has always been great. Sometimes there can be a bit of a communication gap however as long as you know basic Spanish it shouldn't be a problem at all!!! I had the caprese pizza and substituted spinach for the parma ham (I don't eat meat). It came out quickly and perfectly. The crust is absolutely to die for and the ingredients are incredibly fresh. I enjoyed the night as local musicians would stop and play a variety of music. There is always a lot of laughter, enjoyment and fellowship at La Nave - just a few of the reasons I return again and again!

Yelp
We got pretty lucky wandering into this place after a really long bike ride trying to find a different restaurant and giving up. The service was very cheerful and quick, and the food was good for Italian in Mexico. There seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists dining here, and the locals seemed to be familiar with the waitstaff, which is always a good sign and adds to a pleasant atmosphere. We had the margarita pizza and the gnocchi sorrentina. My gnocchi was good but a bit heavy. My friend had the pizza, which I assume was pretty good considering she finished the entire thing herself. Prices won't break the bank if you split a pizza and a side, but even with two rather larger entrees given the size of girls we are, plus two pineapple waters, the bill came out to under 20/person. There was also a cute performance by a young woman crooning along with her acoustic guitar, but not sure if this was specific to la nave or if she makes the rounds at all the restaurants.

Yelp
The pizza here is some of the best we have hd in the WORLD! All handmade and also wonderful staff! Wish we had found this sooner...

Yelp
Authentic. Great for the whole family. Showed up with a party of 19, were graciously seated within 5 minutes.

Yelp
Breakfast is okay. Nothing special. I got the crepes with maple sauce with was great but the portion is so small. The OJ and eggs my boyfriend got was mediocre. Nothing special.

Yelp
Great pizza and atmosphere. Hadn't planned on pizza, but stopped in for dinner based on curb appeal. Thin crust pizza was really delicious and different than typical on the US east coast. Great service and we had the fortunate experience of live music with a guitar-violin duet who had been travelling across south america for the last two years.

Yelp
We went on a friday night and were seated immediately. The service was prompt and professional yet the atmosphere casual and playful. I ordered caprese salad and penne alla vodka sauce. Big portions and the flavor of the sauce was rich. I tasted my mom's pomodoro sauce and it was very flavorful without being too salty. I am super happy with our experience and would go back. We had a nice friday meal with good ambiance and reasonably priced.

Yelp
Surprisingly good Italian in Tulum town. Pizza has a thin crust and is reasonably authentic, especially for Mexico. The grilled veggies were excellent, perfectly prepared. The carbonara was spot on with perfect flavor and al dented texture. They have several homemade pastas which we didn't try along with a full seafood menu which we also did not try. Enough variety and quality to satisfy a group. Large portions. Excellent service. Skip the mix to salad. We would definitely return.

K M.

Yelp
Nice setting, but the pizza was super bland, undercooked, and quite expensive relative to the other nearby pizza places that are much better tasting and larger.

Yelp
This place was a very pleasant surprise while visiting Tulum. Wonderful pizza, pasta, lasagna. High quality ingredients and large plates for a great value. The place was very busy both times that we went, the waitors were hustling around and doing a great job. One of the best places to eat in Tulum.

Josh B.

Yelp
Really terrible pizza. Sauce tasted like it came from a can and the cheese was especially low quality. Waiter didn't even look at me. They charge an extra gratuity and it's quite a bit overpriced for what it is. On the bright side, my pizza came about 5 minutes after ordering it.

Gayle P.

Yelp
My favorite meal in Tulum. I married into an Italian family so it's very hard to find decent Italian food anywhere. You nailed it. Delicious. Pizza was perfect...super thin crust. Pasta dishes were huge portions and so yummy.
google avatar

Samantha E.

Yelp
Wonderfully priced with amazing coffee selections. We have been here twice for breakfast now because it is so tasty. The people who work here are friendly and funny... They seem to have fun. Get the Maya coffee... Ice cream in hot coffee is delicious. The eggs and hot cakes are also good.

Yelp
Run by an Italian family and the authenticity shows - one of the best Italian meals I've had in a long time. Fantastic place.

Yelp
This is probably my favoritenplace in Tulum. I ate pasta carbonara and my wife lasagna it was . The service was great.
