Amazing restaurant by the lake. You have to go through the hotel reception, past the pool to get here. Once there the setting is just beautifull. We were served by the lovely Diana. The food was amazing! A bit more pricier than we were used too but maybe the best food we had so far. We took some tapas as an entree, but you also get some nice bread and dips wich were both tasty. Cajun style Salmon, maybe the best Salmon I've ever had! This reastaurant had it all, definately worth a visit!

Very nice and private restaurant a hidden jewel in Cancun with a great view of the hotel zone and romantic atmosphere, excellent service from Diana and July🫶🏻Food was delicious 🤤 I highly recommend the onions 🧅 soup #magnifique🤗and the tuna grill steak. The place is very rustic but nice and they have a 🎷 saxsofon player on weekends.

This is so far the worst of the worst dining experience I’ve ever had I took my family for dinner based on the reviews of this place !!!! Let me tell you we ordered 3 beef tenderloin medium was still cold inside The meat was the Lowest quality the texture was horrible we couldn’t eat more than 2 bits the seafood soup was taste less and bland hopefully we won’t get sick We told the server the food was bad and she said no !!!!!!!!! We paid 2,962,00$ 170 US $ very clear this was a tourist price Overpriced cheap quality with horrible service

Google
Great service, good food, reasonable prices. Beautiful view if the night is right. We really enjoyed our visit here. Kind of hard to find, you have to go through the hotel out to the back by the water, but it's nice. The drinks were great as well. The bread sticks just kept coming too, better than Olive garden lol.

It was far more upscale than I anticipated. I was seated on the deck and the view was stunning. My food was cooked exactly as requested, the wine was wonderful, and the staff was super friendly. I had been walking all day and really wanted to grab a bite and rest, but they weren't open yet. Instead of asking me to wait outside, they seated me and made sure I had something cold to drink until the kitchen was ready.

Delicious ! Great service and very nice sitting on the lagoon !! For dining with the sunset - off beat track - away from tourists

Yelp
Come to Cancun once every 4-6 weeks since late 2019, and I can't believe we just tonight discovered this gem! Totally different view of the lagoon, and much quieter and quaint than the usual hotel zone restaurants. I've been to France a few times, but to my preference, this place has my favorite hollandaise sauce to date! Salmon was fresh and cooked as requested. Hubs had a great filet with peppercorn sauce. It's a small place, and a little harder to find (10 min walk to hotel though)(3 minute Uber). Worth every penny!!! Gator wasn't out tonight, he's probably on the other side of lagoon. Eta: owner convinced the gator to say Hi after all!

Yelp
Decent food, great location, but unfortunately this time we visited service was super slow (and we were 1 of 3 tables). Our server was awful. Maybe she was having a bad night. Her attitude was as though she was a teenager forced by we dad to work tables and was so pissed she was taking it out on every customer. Haha. I get people have bad days and want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but not at the expense of my dinner. This spot is not easy to find either, down a side street and through a hotel lobby, which is pretty cool as it seems like a 'secret spot'. Bring some chum and throw it over the railing when staff isn't looking and maybe one of the local lagoon dinosaurs will visit you (if you have a small child just have them dip their toes in the water and wiggle them a bit)

Yelp
It is a hidden gem with delicious food. The lagoon view makes you relaxing. Service is awesome. Bread is yummy, we had tartar with beef, mushroom soup, warm salad with scallop and asparagus, Mexican style shrimp, snails, kids have the New York steak. Love every dishes. My son got a complimentary birthday chocolate mousse, and ice cream! Strongly recommended. It is much better than our intercontinental hotel's restaurant

Yelp
We were three tourists coming from isla mujeres and we were starving. We found this place which was the closest place to the ferry -- and we were so glad that we did! The food was amazing. It was a tranquil vibe. And it was overall so worth it! Come.

Yelp
The Royal Cancun's restaurant. Definitely check out the breakfast buffet, where they serve freshly squeezed juices and hot Mexican staples like tamales, I also remember really liking the potatoes. Dinner here was fine, just more "Americanized" than Mexican. Service is great (all staff can communicate well in English) and the view can't be beat!

Yelp
Wow! This gem is tucked away with lack of signs. It is part of a hotel. Amazing food!!! Amazing views!!! Very romantic! And it's fairly inexpensive.

Yelp
While spending New Years in Cancún, I wanted to take my man on a nice, romantic date at a local spot, and after a bit of searching and review reading, I found this place. I wasn't sure it was still open due to the lack of Yelp reviews, but there were other recent reviews that eased my mind. Most were excellent, but some complained of quality. We tried anyway. This place is definitely off the beaten path as stated by others, but it really wasn't too hard to find. I knew that it sat behind a hotel and not on the street. So, we walked down Quetzal from Boulevard Kukulcán and found Hotel Imperial Laguna, which was the closest one. After walking inside, we spotted the sign to the left for the restaurant and headed out back. We walked through the garden toward the lagoon, and it popped up like magic. It was super small and right on the dock with string lights hung above. What a gorgeous setting! For some reason, there was a miscommunication between OpenTable and the restaurant. So, we didn't have a reservation for NYE, but the manager , Alex, accommodated us and quickly got us set up with a table right on the dock. Bread and some sort of spread quickly arrived. The spread was a mayonnaise based paste with parsley and garlic, which was definite BOMB! We had two baskets and almost a third since it was so addictive. For the NYE set menu, we started with asparagus topped with ham and cheese. This was quickly devoured as it was so tasty. The asparagus was cooked to perfection as it was soft but with a little bite and a very rich sauce to boot. For the second course, I had the beef filet with cilantro mashed potatoes. Beef was cooked to order and did not disappoint with its juicy, succulent flavor, and the potatoes were rich with a slight citrusy flavor. He had the salmon covered in fennel cream sauce and couscous. I'm not a huge fan of salmon, but his was delicious, and the sauce really made it. Both entrees were served with mixed veggies that were a perfect compliment. For dessert, they served us chocolate cake with raspberry syrup. Overall, the setting was super romantic, food was outstanding, and we were so thankful that Alex was able to accommodate us on such a busy evening. Definitely worth a return visit!

Yelp
Was walking by when a few waiters showed us the menu so we decided to check it out. great atmosphere, live music, and a great view of the lagoon. food and drinks were good, but my favorite part was the crocodile that likes to swim up to the deck and wait for treats! he was HUGE and it was so cool to see him up close and feed him!

Yelp
Excellent food. Peaceful with a water view. Always surprising to first timers but worth seeking out.

Yelp
Great little hidden gem off the beaten path. 4.5 stars. Loss of half-star because these are "French" portions, and it's an adjustment when I've gotten used to massive mexican food platters. That said, it was just the right amount of food- I felt satisfied as opposed to miserably full. The blue cheese mushrooms to start were yummy, strong on the blue cheese. Warm table bread and parsley butter. The main course fish was awesome! paired with a french chardonnay. I asked about belgian beers (as I am a fan and this is apparently a belgian restaurant). They had Stella and Hoegaarden. Ah, I was hoping for a Duvel as I had seen on previous reviews. Oh well. Strawberry cheesecake was very well done too. This was about a 15 minute walk from my hotel, I would definitely come back if its within walking distance. Not many places around here where you can sit right ON the water, and have a very nice meal ta boot.

Yelp
Back again for another delicious meal in this idyllic setting. The roof has been repaired and we again had a hard time choosing among many appetizing meals. Courteous, respectful service was an improvement over our last visit. We sent new friends we met at our resort and they raved about it, too. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This restaurant has great french and Belgium food!! The water view is something you can't everywhere. Great service, nice people and extraordinary live music. The musical performance consists of a guitarist and violinist. Truely an amazing restaurant! Coming back soon. Really recommend it.

Yelp
My husband and I have been fans of LaPalapa Belga for over 10 years. During our visit in late 2017, we ate their twice and were as pleased with the food and the service as ever. In response to a couple of reviews, LaPalalpa Belga is not in the Royal Cancun (formerly VCI), nor is it in any way affiliated with the Royal Resorts. "Belga" is located on the lagoon near the Pok ta Pok golf course and the Imperial Hotel. It does not face Kulkucan Blvd so may be difficult to find; however, taxi drivers can easily get you there. In Cancun, we generally stick to sea food rather than beef and have had good fish, shrimp and combination sea food dishes at Belga. The staff may have trouble with English, but will stick with you until they understand whatever your special request may be. We ordered one of our favorites that is no longer on the menu and the new staff got it right the first time - We will continue to recommend this lovely restaurant to our friends, old and new.

Yelp
Everyone recommended the place. Good food (nothing out of the ordinary) but the service INCREDIBLY SLOW. The waiters instead of serving us were standing in a corner talking to each other. We went with a prefix menu and it was the worst! It took hours to bring us the food and they didn't even comply with the menu. This "menu" did not include drinks. NOT EVEN WATER! We had to buy our own ice and water because "they don't provide you with any liquids." Do not waste your time going. Of better crap I have left.

Kim H.

Yelp
Don't! Don't believe the reviews. This place is disgusting. Don't waste cab ride, the money or the time. We left, food uneaten, and RAN to somewhere clean and with fresh food. It may have been 'the hidden gem' in the day, now it's a one way ticket to the American hospital. Steer clear!

Yelp
Loyal diners every year on vacation for the past 15 yr. party of 5 this week . chicken - no taste, Mussells- grainey and tough, onion soup- not hot, seafood stew- no taste, salmon sent back overcooked and smelled bad. OLIVER, get this cook out and get back in the kitchen please before current mgt drowns restaurant in the lagoon! ! heard from 3 other parties at Royal islander- same experience. disappointed and worried.

Yelp
This awesome restaurant has it all, delicious food, great service and a fantastic view! Right by the lagoon, great for a romantic dinner or a group of friends celebrating a special event. I was there on New Years Eve, the music had us dancing all night. Every time I get to visit Cancun, the Palapa Belga is one of my first stops. It's a must! Try the rack of lamb it's licking finger good and créeme brûlée for desert you won't be disappointed

Yelp
Food poisoning from salmon- got sick right in restaurant! Saw roaches in bathroom! Kitchen manager (I suppose it was) that came out to ask what was wrong w salmon when I sent it back was extremely rude when I said it didn't taste right! We had 11 people that went there Monday night, all unhappy except one! None of us will ever return- steak like shoe leather, mussels over cooked, fish stew disgusting, they forgot meals that were ordered! All together, crap hole!
