11 Best Brunch Places in Toronto | Condé Nast Traveler

"This airy, light-filled space is as pretty and Instagrammable as the hip Trinity-Bellwoods neighborhood it inhabits. There's the open kitchen, which gleams with polished copper accents, and oversize windows that can roll up à la garage doors in the warmer months, and, of course, excellent food and drink. To start, call in an aperitivo (the white Negroni sbaligiato is a perennial favorite), then slowly gawk your way through a menu filled with new takes on Italian classics. If avocado crostini and baked eggs all'Amitriciana don't sound like winning Saturday dishes to you, we don't know what does. Oh, and make sure you can still walk by the end—Trinity-Bellwoods Park, a beloved local hangout, is just down the street." - Todd Plummer

Liked all the food items except the lamb pasta which wasn't a good combination. Really liked the wood fried chicken, the sauce was nice. The 100 layer lasagna was good too, wasn't a big fan of tuna but the cooked lettuce was good.

Google
had heard good things about this restaurant, so I stopped by for a late lunch today with high hopes… but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite disappointing. The place itself is cute and the staff was kind and attentive, which I really appreciated. That said, the food didn’t live up to the hype. Most of the dishes were underwhelming: the lasagna and beef tartare were both extremely bland, while another dish was so salty we had to send it back. The pizzas were okay, but very small for the price. To their credit, the staff handled our concerns graciously and offered us complimentary beverages, which was a nice gesture. Still, unless the kitchen steps things up significantly (or was just having an off day, maybe the usual chef wasn’t in?) I wouldn’t recommend this spot.

We went as a group of 6 to celebrate my partner's birthday and opted for their Summerlicious 2025 menu. Warning: The entire table must choose either the Summerlicious menu or a la carte. You can order add-on items from either menu but no mixing between guests. I had thought that it was a fixed 3-course menu, but was pleasantly surprised to see that we have 3 choices for each course of Appetizer, Main, and Dessert. SERVICE Service was fantastic, but unfortunately, we were quite disappointed on how unbalanced the food were, details below. DRINKS I love the drinks menu. I ordered the Pacific Passion which taste exactly as I'd hoped. Others in our group tried cocktails, seltzer, and beer. The cocktails are on the pricier side but that's to be expected for Toronto restaurants. FOOD Unfortunately, the food was where things fell short (especially the Mains). They were unbalanced and "strange" portions (for lack of better word). Appetizers: The salads were fantastic both for presentation and flavour. The Cucumber Burrata was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Easily 9.9/10! The only thing missing was a light crunch element for texture. The Mizuna Salad was delicious - fresh, light, sweet, and tangy. We didn't try the Fava Bean Crostini so can't comment on that one Mains: This is where things gets very confusing, unbalanced, and mid at best. *Clam Pizza - My partner's choice and unfortunately a miss. It was a full size pizza, but he ended up only eating a couple slices. If you like seafood you may like it, we don't. *Pesto Gnocchi - Others ordered the gnocchi and it was underwhelming. It was fresh and light but the portion was very very small, they could've added 7-10 more gnocchi to make it more appropriate size in comparison to the chicken and pizza. Presentation was bland, just gnocchi with pesto and drizzle of olive oil. *Wood-Fired Chicken - This is what I ordered, picture included. It was the best bang for your buck, for sure. The portion was huge, it's a HALF CHICKEN (breast, thigh, and drumstick) with no sides. It was a lot of protein for one person in my opinion and quite salty, considering there is no starch/veggie to balance it all out. It has a lovely smoky flavor from being wood fired, but it needs a bit more sweetness added to balance out the flavour profile. I ended up taking half home. I just had the leftover with Japanese cabbage slaw & sesame dressing and it was fantastic (something for the kitchen to consider). If I had known, I would have ordered the chicken and asked my partner to order the gnocchi so at least we can share a more balanced meal. Desserts: They were great! Some of us got the Panna Cotta with strawberry compote and it was very delicious! Some got the cannoli which was generously sized, bigger than the ones you find in bakeries. And my partner got the Olive Oil cake as recommended by our server, which was good but a bit too dense for my liking. They did add a candle on the cake for my partner which was a very sweet & thoughtful gesture. All in all, while the service was really good, the inconsistencies in the mains made the overall dinner disappointing. In hindsight, we probably should have ordered a la carte, and try their famous lasagna instead. For $55 per person, their Summerlicious menu needs significant reworking in terms of portion balance and flavour profile. Hopefully they see this and can improve their future menu.

Google
Had an overall decent experience dining here for the first time. The food was not that great as everything we ordered came out quite salty. Atmosphere and decor inside the restaurant was really nice and clean. I will say their most popular dish (100 layer lasagna) lives up to the hype!

Google
Great Rooftop Dining for Mother's Day We had a wonderful Mother's Day meal at La Palma. The rooftop seating was perfect for the beautiful weather, making the experience even more enjoyable. The food was delicious—fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Service was attentive without being overbearing, making the whole meal smooth and enjoyable. Overall, a great spot for a special occasion or a nice meal on a sunny terrace.

My husband and I had our wedding at Casa La Palma (upstairs) in August 2025 and couldn’t be happier with how it went. From the start, Bailey made planning seamless and stress-free. The day itself ran smoothly, the service was flawless, and our guests are still raving about the food — many said it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had. We also loved the thoughtful mocktail options for our non-drinking guests. Huge thanks to Lauren, Chris and Michael for their warmth and incredible service. We’d highly recommend Casa La Palma for any wedding or special event!

Google
I really enjoyed this place this place was as advertised. I don't know actually how I came across it but I know that I saw it on some show.On my visit to Toronto I know that I had to stop by. The service was fast and friendly, this place had an open kitchen so you can see everything that's going on. Watching the chefs prepare your food is an art form. I went for the 100 layer lasagna and it exceeded my expectations. If you're in the Toronto area this is a must. I will be visiting this place again. Thanks for the great service

Google
A must-try in Toronto! The food at La Palma did not disappoint. We practically ordered the whole menu, from the iconic 100-layer lasagna and flap steak to the charred bok choy, burrata salad, and cacio e pepe flatbread, and loved every single bite. Only downside? While the appetizers arrived promptly, the entrées took a bit too long. By the time they came out, the restaurant was about to close, which rushed the experience a bit. Next time, I’ll definitely request that everything comes out together. Pro tip: There’s a charming, tucked-away upstairs section, ask to be seated there for a cozier vibe. Despite the timing hiccup, I’d absolutely come back. The flavors speak for themselves!

Yelp
100 layer lasagna is definitely worth the hype but even more important is the lovely staff that genuinely make you feel like your experience is important to them! Great wine suggestion from the bartender who really took the time to ensure we ordered something we were happy with. The only down side for me was the house toast - white Texas loaf style that I felt did not work well with the burrata - could be simply personal preference but I think a sourdough or heartier loaf would work better. Overall great experience and we will visit again.

Yelp
Finding the entrance to La Palma is a challenge for first timers as there's no sign, just what looks like garage doors. I visited for brunch a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed, but I decided to give it another shot for dinner, especially to try their hyped-up 100-layer lasagna. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The lasagna arrived split in half, making it more of a 50-layer dish. One side was burnt to the point of being inedible, and overall, it was underwhelming. At $28 on its own or $15 when ordered with an appetizer, I expected better. The chicken tagliatelle was completely flavorless, and the flat iron steak, ordered medium rare, was way too chewy. Portions across the board were small. As for the appetizer, we tried the tuna albacore. It was plated nicely, but the taste was nothing special. Service was okay--not bad, but nothing that stood out. The positives is that it's a pretty space, food was plated nicely with cutlery on each plate for sharing. Overall, La Palma didn't redeem itself from my first visit. Between the inconsistent food quality, small portions, and lack of flavor, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
Let's talk about the positives first: good vibe, busy on a snowy Sunday night, restrooms are very nice and they have nice hand soap and moisturizer. The service is ok. Our waitress came pretty late to take our food order. The food came out pretty cold which means it was sitting on the counter perhaps. She also made a mistake with splitting our bill, luckily our friend caught it. Finally the most disappointing was the food. Our chicken pasta was under seasoned and had really no flavor until we doused it with hot oil. Our friend ordered braised beef Sunday special and it was a tiny portion, she kept saying it was a portion for an 8 year old child. The pizza - the all cheese one, supposedly their most famous one, came out cold and was too salty. We ordered dessert as it was our friend's birthday and even that was like a store bought chocolate brownie. Overall, I can't believe we spent $100 on this dinner.

Yelp
Saturday brunch. Tasty avocado toast with side of poached eggs. Known for their lasagna but we were looking for something lighter for lunch. Great service. Very cute inside. Nice spot, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
The ambiance was wonderful. We were seated on the second floor, near the patio, and had a nice view. When you enter the dining area, it feels very chic/clean and modern. I loved the decor. We ordered a bottle of wine and I had the 100 layer lasagna. Outside of the lasagna being 100 layers, it wasn't amazing (hence why I am giving 3 stars). I expected more in terms of flavour and it seemed a bit dry. Otherwise, the service was good and the staff were attentive.

Yelp
A beautiful spot for brunch just on Dundas. Can accommodate for bigger groups. Great service during brunch hours. The lasagna was so pretty.

Yelp
Made a reservation for dinner here while visiting for the weekend after seeing good things about the ambiance and the lasagna! Overall the experience was lovely and the food was good but not overly noteworthy. The best things I can say about La Palma are the service which was out of this world. Our server was so kind, attentive, and never left our waters empty! Truly some of the best service. I love the atmosphere; the space is so well designed and great for conversation. We were seated upstairs which I loved, but the setting on both floors looked great! We started with drinks, I got the winter bloom which was a light and refreshing gin cocktail, not to mention extremely strong! Delicious. Our server recommended the tuna crudo appetizer which was really good but pretty minimal portion. I got the 100 layer lasagna and my friend got a pizza. We both enjoyed our food. The lasagna was delicious, but nothing overall surprising. To be fair, it's hard for a restaurant to top your mothers comforting homemade lasagna you know?? Really good flavor but nothing unique, and I like to be surprised.

Yelp
Came to try the lasagna. The environment is great - chic spot with friends or a date. Our server was very slow which sucked as we found we we're waiting often for things. The food was full of flavour, but noticed that it was quite salty unfortunately. Dessert and appetizers were the best things we ate imo. Worth a try!

Yelp
TL;DR Great Food, Attentive Service & a beautiful spot. REVIEW: The 100 Layer Lasagna: It is so good it is worth getting two! The Pizza is really a Flatbread: My party enjoyed the Caico e Pepe style, I was less impressed, it could have used something extra, a premium oil on top of some type would elevated the dish. The Roasted Chicken: The chicken is Great but the portion size should be a touch larger for the price, try and grab the Drums because there isn't much else if you share the dish. It reminds me of normal Churrasco chicken you can get elsewhere in the city. The Broccolini: Is a worthy side dish that reminds you why it is superior to its cousin Broccoli. The service was attentive but unobtrusive in the best way. I'd love to grab drinks on the rooftop patio in the future. It is always cool when a restaurant has Glass Garage Doors, appreciate the little things like that, because they disappear quickly in a growing city. LA PALMA is a restaurant I will be returning to in the future, for at the minimum, the Lasagna & a Drink!

Yelp
We went to La Palma for the 100 layer lasagna. It was incredible!! We had a reservation and sat in the part of the restaurant that is upstairs and next door to the main door /restaurant part. The restaurant is really cute with great and fast service. The pastas were delicious, especially the butternut squash gnocchi. The chicken was also great to have with the pasta!

Yelp
We drove from Niagara Falls to Toronto just to get the lasagne, but the traffic was horrendous and we stopped to eat on the way. So we got take out from la palma so my review reflects that. The decor is gorgeous, and it's got a happy light vibe. The food, despite being driven back all the way to Niagara Falls (2 hour journey) was absolutely delicious! My 100 layer lasagne was Devine. My husbands muffuletta pizza was sooo yummy. My only issue was the greeter acted like I was the last person on earth that she wanted to talk to. Maybe it was because I was in a hoody and jeans. I'm not really sure. But she made it clear the less time she spent talking to be the better. My food was delayed because of an ordering error on my part? not an issue at all, but I wasn't told I could wait inside at the bar (which was empty) I felt so uncomfortable so I left and waited outside. It was a very strange experience.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. One of the major downside was being placed right next to the main entrance. Staffs are extremely friendly, they greet you and take you to the table. Our server was extremely nice. I asked the host if it wold be possible for them to light up the dessert when we order later and she said of course. I reminded my server 1 more time by the time we ordered it and she already knew! We ordered ALBACORE TUNA CRUDO, 100 LAYER LASAGNA, LAMB CHOPS 'SCOTTADITO', CARROTS AND GUANCIALE, and DARK CHOCOLATE TORTE. Tuna Crudo was delicious but the only downside was that there were only 3 pieces of thinly sliced tuna. I loved the dressing and the tuna balanced really well with other greens and pomegranate. However, is it worth 22$? not for 3 slices. 100 Layer Lasagna is worth the try. This itself I would give 4.5/5. I wish there were more sauce, because I felt at one point it was slightly dry. Lamb chops Scottadito was amazing. It tasted even better with tahini yogurt. Carrots and Guanciale was delicious. If you are thinking of lightly grilled carrots, I wouldn't go for it because the guanciale makes this dish quite oily. But the flavour is extremely flavourful and makes the carrot more vibrant. For dessert, we chose dark chocolate torte. It wasn't too sweet or too heavy. It was a great way to end the meal. Ambiance was a perfect for us. Was not too loud, but it was slightly dark. the light from the kitchen and small table candle lights balanced well. Overall it was satisfying first visit, and I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
Loved the esthetics of the place as soon as I walked in. It's very vibrant with its bright pastel colours which gave me south Miami Beach vibes. We ordered the croissant Benny along with the sauteed home fries. The Benny was good but the croissant was chewy instead of fluffy, it definitely didn't feel fresh but the rest of the dish was amazing. The home fries were the best I've had in a long time. They were a little tangy but AMAZING!

Yelp
I've come here a couple times for drinks and love their patio in the summer, so I was very much looking forward to trying the food - which I found to be a bit hit or miss. First off, the vibe here is lovely. Downstairs they have a vibey section with tons of natural light, and upstairs they have a lounge / patio section with a beautiful bar and fireplace. I love the decor here so much - simple yet elegant, and the transformed auto shop vibes are eclectic. The cocktails are great! The food, decent. Here's the rundown: - Burrata: personally not a huge fan of burrata but this one tasted a bit dry surprisingly. It was served with orange, grapefruit, pistachios, and bread, which made for a nice bite, but the burrata itself was just fine - Pizza: we got a pizza with brown butter, apples, and more, but it was more of a flatbread and didn't really hit. - Lasagna: this was my fave, I thought it was done really well and I liked the crust, the sauce and cheese were all plentiful too. I would get this again. - Steak: the sauce was good and the crust / cook was nice, but the meat itself was more than a bit chewy. Overall, the food itself was more misses than hits to me - I would only come back for the lasagna / other pastas, but otherwise it's a great spot for drinks.

Yelp
Had a reservation for 3 people for a friends belated birthday dinner at La Palma! We've been meaning to try this place out, as it's a a really pretty restaurant. We came during the evening and the warm tones in the furnishings, dim lighting, and soft jazzy music made the entire atmosphere feel super cozy. The service was incredible and our waiter was incredibly kind and frequently checked on how we were doing. For appetizer, we tried the burrata with a side of bread. It was pretty good but nothing too special. I don't think I'd get if again just because the side of bread costs $4, which I haven't seen at other restaurants before. The bread wasn't even impressive and tasted like toasted wonder bread :( For mains, we each ordered a pasta dish from the pasta menu and they were all amazing!!! I tried the cocoa pappardelle pasta, and it was so fantastic and filling. We also tried the 100 layer lasagna and gnocchi, which were also great. The only "complaint" really is that the food is a bit overpriced for what you're getting. I know that pandemic/inflation is a big part of this, so if you're okay with spending a little more on a nice meal, then I'd highly recommend coming here! :)

Yelp
Great service and that 100-layer lasagna!! Casual atmosphere, trendy part of the city!

Yelp
Came here for brunch. This place thinks it is too hip to serve you. Glacial service and requests for things like salt met with eye rolls, request for eggs scrambled instead of poached met with "we have a large party upstairs...so...no". Food was meh. Small portions came with entree alone on a tiny plate. Did you think that we wouldn't notice the small portions and lack of presentation if the plate was tiny? Avoid.

Yelp
La Palma, located near Dundas West and Manning Avenue, serves Italian food within a California inspired atmosphere. The menu is broken down into several sections (pastas, pizzas, starters, larger plates, sides), where the idea is to share with your party. I've been to La Palma numerous times for brunch and dinner, where I had the pleasure of also ordering the chef's menu twice during special occasions. When the restaurant first opened, it was extremely difficult to get reservations, especially on the weekends. Pre-pandemic times, the restaurant was constantly busy and buzzing with customers. Currently, due to the pandemic restrictions, La Palma is take out only, where they open at 4pm. Food can be ordered via their website or through several delivery apps. I was able to order from La Palma for takeout when they first started offering takeout and was satisfied with the food despite having to travel for a bit before eating the food. Onto the food, there has been 2 staple dishes that I would highly recommend ordering. The first is the 100 layer lasagna, and the second being the Cacio e pepe pizza. Both are definitely unique and delicious! I do hope to dine in at La Palma again once it's safe to do so. In the meantime, do check out their takeout offerings to eat at home!

Abi M.

Yelp
La Palma has the BEST lasagna! I also really loved the chicken liver mousse! Such a fun restaurant to go with your friends!

Yelp
I cannot believe I am writing this. A waiter here kicked my partner!! This place is absolutely NOT about any type of celebration. The wait staff are not okay with serving alcohol and are 100% egotistical. They believe millionaires (as actually voiced to me) frequent this place and have no demeanour that invites regular people to have a good time. The elistism is uncalled for and the food is as good as Gabby's bar. Do NOT waste your time or money here. It is ABSOLUTELY rubbish in a town with many many other options for good eats.
google avatar

Brigid D.

Yelp
Went here for the hype of the 100 layer lasagna. I started with beet carpaccio, which was wonderful. From there went in for the 100 layer lasagna, which was just okay. The flavors of a lasagna are supposed to be rich and deep. The flavor here were a bit flat. We shared an order of brussel sprouts and those were the shining star of the meal....they were so good. I highly recommend when you catch them on special. The dark chocolate torte was very yummy as well. Next time I will have an different entrée but there will be a next time! The service is wonderful.

Yelp
One of my friend and I came to Toronto, Canada to visit one of my very close friend. She showed us around town and after our hike, we were pretty hungry, so she recommended us this place, La Palma. I have to say the place was pretty crowded. We waited in line, but it wasn't as long as we thought it would be. When I first walked into the restaurant, I was very fond of the interior design and layout. It was very modern and contemporary. There is a bar for you to sit at if you wanted to. The ambience/atmosphere was very peaceful and nice. It made one feel welcome right away. Very clean, and the staffs were friendly and kind. We ordered the margherita pizza, 1/2 a hen, and some lasagna. Everything was fresh and simply delicious! I don't know if it was the cheese that they used or not, but man, it is one of the best margherita pizza I have ever had! The food wasn't too heavy to the stomach and was in fact, pretty light. When you leave the place, you will feel satisfied with the food and want to come back again for more. If you love Italian food, I definitely recommend this place if you are ever in Toronto, Canada. Everything was perfect. The atmosphere, the staff, the food, and the interior design will make you feel welcome.

Yelp
Just went for brunch and got the baked eggs as recommended by the waitress- basically eggs in tomato garlic sauce and absolutely nothing special. I'm not sure why this would be a recommended dish to be completely honest. I'd need to go back to do a fairer review but the ambiance was nice, good for girlfriend brunch, coffee was good, but nothing spectacular except for atmosphere, but only based on one dish that was recommended and a one time experience.
google avatar

Remy H.

Yelp
Had a great time at this restaurant! Great vibes and good food. We had the gnocchi and lasagna. Gnocchi was really good, lasagna was decent (missing flavour). Overall, would come back as the service was very good!

Yelp
I have to say I have tried both Casa and tonight La Palma, this is a very professionally managed restaurant, the atmosphere osphere upstairs is more intimate and the main floor dining is a bustling and the seating and views are comfortabe - but the winning ingredient at these locations is definitely the the food! The falafel appetizer and the chicken liver pate were an explOsion of delicious flavours , my main was the 100 layer lasAgna, so flavourful, yet not heavy, it was the perfect sized portion - and left me with room for the dark chocolate mousse with a merengue crumble - honestly it was the perfect end to a super night of dIning ! I would recommend either location up in the summer and La Palma anytime - thanks to the partner/owner Alexis for making this night right for celebrating a friendS 50th I will definitely be back again !

Yelp
My house had it's third quarantine birthday, and for his fancy delivery my husband chose La Palma. Everyone was thrilled with his decision. One day soon we will be able to clink spritzes in the sunny dining room at La Palma, but until then, I highly recommend checking out their delicious delivery or pick up. They seem to do specials and wine. We didn't sort ourselves out early enough, so we grabbed through UberEats. My meal, the Celery Root Agnolotti and Charred Broccolini, were so good I wouldn't share. Even with my adorable children, so take that into consideration when placing your order.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
We wanted to love La Palma, super cute and tready, but it fell pretty short of expectations. We ordered cocktails then food about 5 minutes later, and within 2 minutes our food showed up. The server said "the wedding upstairs is having the same pasta and we had leftovers so that is why it was so quick". At that point, we had not even received our cocktails so not only was it poor timing but I thought them saying that was in bad taste. We had the famous lasagna, which was great but needed like a lot more sauce, and a sausage with peppers pasta. The one thing that deserved literally 10 stars were the potatoes and pickles side that we got off a whim, it doesnt really fit the meal, but my goodness you must get them!!

Yelp
This has been on my list for awhile and it definitely didn't food disappoint. I noticed that a lot of people had ordered the lasagna and from all reports it's fabulous so I wanted to try something I hadn't read much about but wanted to try. The Cornish hen. I chose the full size as opposed to the half portion. I wish the server had told me to order something on the side to make it feel more like a complete meal. They had a lot of intriguing options to add on. Who knows? Maybe he assumed I was on some keto diet. I did order a whole bird after all - even if it's small. Despite that - it was flavourful, filling and one you could easily share. The mille feuille - delicious, airy sweetness. I totally inhaled this. My server was for the most part in absentia. Not sure if this fellow was new but I did find where it fell short was the customer service. Not that I need a lot of maintenance but I would watch others work and I was kind of jealous of their mad skills. dude never cracked a smile and rarely came back to the table unless ya do the old stare at him until he notices routine (always works lol). To be fair, It wasn't just him though. Despite the number of people working I noticed something interesting as I watched the staff do their thing behind or around the counter - only when customers came in did they acknowledge them. Different experience than say bar raval, cibo, Buca, cactus club, chantecler, etc.... They just seemed much more present as a team. By far, the biggest surprise and disappointment was the customer service. Really, kind of a bummer. Everything outside of that - food and atmosphere awesome.

Yelp
I first came here in September when the weather was nice. It's in a pretty nice part of town, cute and fun to walk around afterwards. It's also pretty central so you can pretty much explore after a nice brunch. The decor inside is very pinterest/instagram worthy. It has turquoise patterns and looks like a little cafe. It get's pretty busy here so I recommend making reservations. They don't have many vegan options (I had an avocado toast without the egg and be careful about the cheese in the salad), but they do have lots of vegetarian options and don't seem to mind if you modify. I recommend this place for small groups

Yelp
The essence of La Palma is geniusly hidden in their wifi password. If you're not Canadian and too cheap to pay for an international mobile plan, you'll quickly learn La Palma's wifi password- VeniceBeach. The entire restaurant is modeled after Venice Beach. The space itself is gorgeous. It's open, spacious, and the walls open up during warmer weather. It's minimalist white washed design has a few art pieces throughout that match their style. Even the signs on the restrooms work. It's design forward, inviting, and calming. The service is attentive and fancy. For example, the server will fold your napkin for you even when you leave briefly to use the restroom. The drinks are light and refreshing. Their sweeter drink, the Oceano Fresca, is simple yet very nice and perfect for the summer. The food was good, but not Michelin star worthy. My wife ordered the 100 layered lasagna and I had the tomato pizza. Both were good, but not note worthy. Surprisingly for a nice restaurant, they had a high chair for our 16-month old suggesting kids were welcome? Maybe?

Yelp
I've been wanting to hit this place up for a while - the food looks delicious and the restaurant itself is IG worthy. Finally, I managed to get here a few days ago. I wasn't disappointed! The decor is divine - clean lines, modern bar area, fresh almost a Miami in the 80s vibe - but in a cool way. I sat at the bar and ordered the Cardamom Spritz (light and refreshing) and I ordered the Pomodoro pizza. I was originally thinking of the grilled cornish game hen, but when asked what it came with, they said nothing. So basically you just get a slab of meat??? I guess you could order sides ($$$$$$$$) but nope, not going to do that. Pizza it is! The pizza was actually pretty good - fresh, with lots of mozza. The crust was nice and crispy. It was just the perfect size for me, and it would be great as a sharing app. I also ordered the Sumac Panna Cotta. I was actually surprised by this dessert b/c it's pretty big. I was expecting a small portion to be honest. It was ok - nothing earth shattering that would make me want to order it again. It had a nice consistency of custard with the crunch of nuts on it. The sumac gave it a slightly off putting flavour after the first few bites. Overall, while I find the menu a little pretentious (meat and no sides for a dish - say huh???), I do like this place and would like to try another dish or 2. The service is super friendly. While I sat at the bar, the bartender was really nice- always checking in on me, wanting to know if I wanted anything else, refilling my water glass right away..asking how I was enjoying my meal. All done in a sincere way and totally not overkill at all. Highly recommend to make reservations. I was here at what I thought was an off time (2pm-ish) and the restaurant was still quite full (it can hold about 50 people) and people kept coming in.

Yelp
La Palma is a great place to come if you are ready to treat yo' self! Portion sizes are small and pricey, but if you know you're coming to splurge, you won't be disappointed, because everything is delicious. You can choose from mini pizzas, pastas, and an assortment of veggie dishes, and I'm pretty sure the menu changes seasonally. They also have a long list of wines and cocktails of course! On this last trip, I had the roasted parsnip agnolotti (really delicious but felt like an appetizer rather than a main), the cauliflower (who knew roasted grapes were a thing or could be that good?), and the charred broccolini (sooo good!). I also tried some of my friend's pomodoro pizza which tasted like it was fresh out of an Italian grandma's kitchen. The decor is minimal, modern, bright and airy. True California vibes and fancy hand soap in the bathroom. I'll be back for a special occasion.

Yelp
Went here this past weekend for Saturday lunch on their 2nd floor patio. We were celebrating a friend's wedding day so I called in advanced and talked to Lisa - the events manager- to make arrangements for our party of 4. We were able to get a corner table on the patio so it was very secluded with a view of the beautiful cocktail bar. They were very accommodating, especially during this time, with our requests to setup our decor before and allowed us to stay on the patio for the longer than 1.5hr time limit. For service alone, I would come back. The decor, food & drinks were above expectations. I have been here before (ground level) and food was delicious. We got the 100 layer lasgana, peppe pizza, bib entice salad, sated caramel & peach desserts & aperol spritz & a wine to drink. Everything was amazing & cannot wait to come back here again.

Yelp
This restaurant has been on my radar for a little while now this past year as it has been given a lot of really great reviews... needless to say when my best friend wanted to try a new restaurant for double date, I immediately thought of this place! Ambience is really nice - very cosy, almost like a modern diner feel but more quaint :) We were able to make a reservation for a Sunday dinner and the restaurant was mostly filled by the time we got there. My hubby and I ordered an app to share and then each of us ordered a main and shared 2 desserts, and here are our thoughts on them: Ricotta, Pear and Honey Crostino - cute little dish, came with a big piece of bread so i had to cut it in half to share with my hubby. I loved the pairing - the pear and honey gives a bit of a acid and sweet tone along with a savoury spin from the ricotta - you really can't go wrong with these ingredients on a nice piece of bread :) 100 layer lasagna - this was the highlight piece of the night - both me and my best friend got this dish and believe me when I say this, this is amazing and almost to die for! The noodles are fresh, thinly layered, and mixed with the classic bolognese sauce with mozzarella - this is a great twist to the classic lasagna dish. Pasta lovers, if you ever set foot in this place, you HAVE to try this dish! Crispy Pork Belly with Savoy Cabbage and apple - my hubby chose this dish and although the dish doenst' look like it's a lot - it's actually quite rich! the pork belly was crispy and yet juicy and tender when you bight into it, and i really liked the vegetable pairing - cabbage is a great accompaniment to this dish and i love the apple taste - can't ever go wrong putting pork and apple together :) My best friend's hubby had the cornish hen - crispy skin, juicy and tender on the inside. The portion is actually quite large for an entree - lots of meat! He didn't finish all of the hen and packed some of it home. Dessert round came along and at that point all of us were feeling a bit stuffed up after the entrees... so we ended up sharing the dessert: gingerbread mousse - amazing mousse - light and smooth with a very heavy tone of gingerbread.. anyone who likes gingerbread will appreciate this dish! It also came with some honeycomb and verjus pear and it was a nice balance of sweetness - the citrus from the pear cuts the sweetness just a bit which was nice - I didn't find it too rich! Bombolone - this is basically what you would call a stuffed small donut. Fried dough on the outside with grape jelly added on the inside topped with some icing sugar. Very light and fluffy - the smaller sized donuts make it a great dish to share! All in all this is a great place! I saw some families eating in there so aside from being a great place for date, it can also be okay for kids as well. We also had La Palma cocktail and it was great!!! Def would recommend this place if you're ever in the neighbourhood!

Yelp
I've been dying to check out La Palma pretty much since it opened, so I figured my birthday was a pretty darn good opportunity to finally walk through its pastel doors. We arrived around 8:00 and the place was hoppin'. We were shown to a cramped table between two other tables (which I expected), and made a show of looking through the menu. (I've known for months exactly what I wanted to order.) We started with the Chicken Liver ("vin cotto & chive") and my god was it phenomenal. The pate was presented atop pieces of crusty bread and drizzled with oil and balsamic, and those elements were great, yes, but the star here was the chicken liver itself. It was so creamy and buttery, and super flavorful without losing the liver taste (which was mild yet prominent). Good lord, I could've eaten this like yogurt. The main event for me was the 100 Layer Lasagna ("bolognese and mozzarella"), which I've been drooling over in pictures and posts for at least a year now. Did it live up to the hype? You bet your sweet little bippy it did. This is a truly phenomenal lasagna. The perfectly-cooked pasta is an ideal vehicle for the rich, sumptuous bolognese sauce. Each bite was delectable and near orgasmic. A little hyperbolic? Yeah, probably, but it's just that good. Our third dish was the most disappointing: Pancetta, Fresh Ricotta Rosemary & Pickle Chili Pizza. The best part of this was the crust, as the dough is soft without being mushy and also boasts a really nice flavor. But the toppings were all just a little too salty, and the lack of sauce meant that it was drier than I would've preferred. We eventually took to dipping it in whatever was left of the lasagna. Aside from that, though, La Palma clearly deserves the many accolades it's been receiving and I honestly can't wait to go back.

Yelp
I came here for a bachelorette celebration with 5 others recently and we did the chef's experience. The food was PHENOMINAL. There were a number of courses ranging from corn and barley salad, albacore tuna, 100 layer lasagna, crispy potatoes, wood-fired piri piri chicken and a peppercorn flat iron steak. Mmm....that flat iron steak. I'm still dreaming about that purred corn and peppercorn combination. The service was great as well as someone in our party is allergic to alcohol and they were so accommodating preparing additional dishes for her that did not have alcohol. We also loved the atmosphere in the restaurant with the dim lighting and clean summery vibe. Please go here and get the chef's experience! You will not regret it and it is an absolute steal at $60/pp.

Yelp
We heard so many recommendations from our close friends urging us to try out La Palma, so we decided to give it a shot this Saturday for brunch. We made a reservation about a week in advance for three, which to our surprise went smoothly. Food & Taste: Our order: - Breakfast Burger // Pretty standard greasy burger. - Breakfast Pizza // I am a huge sucker for eggs on pizza so this was definitely a win for me. The laughing cow cheese complimented the rosette de lyon sausage, neither overpowered each other. - Baked Eggs All' Amatriciana // This was recommended by our waitress. The baked eggs were a bit on the runnier side, but it didn't bother my friend as she enjoys them runny. The only downfall is the chili to bread ratio. The dish only came with one slice of bread cut in half, we ended up ordering a side dish of bread which was an added $3 for an extra slice... - Crispy Potatoes // As described, they were beautifully CRIPSY. - Americanos + Latte // Average. You get what you pay for? Honestly, we just needed a pick me up, but you can find better coffee just down the block. Service & Atmosphere: We were seated immediately upon our arrival. Our waitress was extremely helpful in briefing the menu, providing recommendations and alternative substitutions to a few dishes as one of the members of our party had allergies. The restaurant is modern chic, clean and welcoming. Bonus - they were playing 90s ballads when I was there. Value: All and all, the prices for the main dishes were average for brunch. Although, the Crispy Potatoes were on the pricier side considering they are a side dish. The highlights of the spread were the Baked Eggs All' Amatriciana and Breakfast Pizza. We would probably only come back for these two brunch dishes and to try the layered lasagna.

Yelp
Absolutely loved La Palma! It's italian food with a couple of cool surprises. It's tapas so we ordered variety of dishes and the staff will guide you through the process of quantity and selections. We started with the Crostini that had Roasted Sunchoke and pomegranate and it was so delicious. Then we tried the Cacio e Pepe pizza. It was more of a flatbread in my opinion and it was ok. It wasn't bad but I wasn't blown away by it. I should have trusted my gut and gone with the porchetta pizza but that's for next time. Then we tried the 100 layer lasagne. The sauce is very sweet and it sure if there were 100 layers but there were many and it was tasty. Four of us shared the dry aged rib eye which was perfectly cooked and delicious. Our aides were the Cauliflower which was ok (don't waste your veg on this) but the star was the Cabbage and Collards. It was the near dish by far, absolutely perfect. Then we ended the meal with Olive Oil Cake (wow amazing!) and Mille Feuille. Can't wait to go again and I'd go with 6 people you have access to the tasting menu which is next on my list.

Yelp
An excerpt from a longer review... "The most talked about dish--the hundred-layer lasagna ($20)--was baked in tradition. The recipe was handed down from Chef Craig Harding's nonna, and offered a crusty edge with a lukewarm inside--likely from frying the pre-cooked lasagna before serving it instead of reheating it in a convection oven. Layers upon layers of sheet-like pasta held barely-there bolognese and mozzarella. The overcooked square was finished off with fresh parsley and powdery Parmesan (I would have liked to see freshly-grated). Call me un peu snob, but I turned my nose up at the overly bland dish. The rigatoni ($19), unfortunately, did not leave a good taste in my mouth either. The two pasta dishes proved that the kitchen doesn't know the meaning of "al dente." Desolé, but Nonna wouldn't approve..."

Yelp
I came with a group of seven for a bachelorette celebration on a Saturday night. First, the reservation was smooth! They asked about dietary restrictions and were very accommodating with allergies and the fact three people in our party were vegan. When we arrived the staff was great and again, very accommodating. We had the chef tasting menu and the food just kept rolling out, each course better than the last. I actually have been wanting to go back since we left. It was so good and the vibe was comfortable, classy, and fun. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Cosy and at the same time vibrant interior. The restaurant shows it closes at 11pm, but we were nicely greeted at 10:15 for walk-in and were told we have until 11 to order food which is rare in Toronto. We ordered wine and a type of spanish cheese which we loved. It came nicely with a side of jam and toasted breads. We also ordered the Endive & Raficchio Salad for appetizer which we absolutely loved. So refreshing. For main dishes, we shared 3 dishes between the two of us. Sweet potato Agnolotti was very unique in taste and it was very rich. It was a little bit sweet if you are not a fan of sweet tastes in food. However I loved it. The famous lasagna was delicious with enough tomato sauce on the plate to go with the lasagna. I wouldn't mind if it had more sauce and was more juicy though. The highlight was the Lamb Chops with the yogurt tahini sauce. It was unexpectedly amazing. It came in 3 pieces only though which was hard for sharing. Taste-wise I loved everything about La Palma. However, the only negative side is the portions are small and you will have to get from at least 4-5 portions including appetizer and main dishes in between two people if you are hungry. So, considerig the size of the portions the prices are high compared to many other italian restaurants in the city. If you are spending around $22-24 for a pasta dish you expect a full size portion not an appetizer size. With all this, I would say I would still go back there once in a while especially with a group to share and try various dishes.

Yelp
Had brunch here with some girlfriends a few weeks ago and it was a nice experience. Not sure why we weren't able to make brunch reservations for 11 or 12noon, the place was empty. We were forced to make reservations online for 10 AM. The food is OK, none of the dishes stood out in my opinion. I had the ham croissant it was not that interesting, just a pricey croissant sandwich with a side salad. The service is OK as well. Compared with the recently closed Campagnolo, this place is more appealing to the average diner I would say.

Yelp
BAKED EGGS ALL' AMATRICIANA / $16 and Hen /$15 with guanciale, chili & pecorino  These were the items we ordered when we came here. My baked eggs were runny, tasteless, I wanted to run into a glass wall really bad. But I swallowed what I could, and still paid for the meal. It was a horrific gastronomical experience. The half hen according to my friend was "ok". Gross tasteless food, overly priced, made and suitable for "people" with a bland pallet. Extremely awful customer service, with no substitutes or options available for dietary restrictions.

Yelp
La Palma is a great little 'italian' restaurant on Dundas. The restaurant itself has a modern, yet classy cream coloured styled decor. The restaurant is great for sharing dishes. The menu extends beyond pizza and pasta with several vegetable dishes, meats, fish, and a couple "charcuterie" items. Drinks are priced on the higher end (greater than $15 each) I tried the Eggplant Alla Norma, the Lamb Chops (with an extra chop), the Cauliflower, and Charred Broccolini. The 4 dishes total were more than enough for 2 people. - Eggplant Alla Norma - all around delicious. Toast with different cheese fused with eggplant. - Lamb Chops - a little on the pricier side given the serving but the chops were chewy and were well seasoned. The yoghurt tahini served with the dish tasted fresh and served as a great dip. - Cauliflower - Who ever thought that cauliflower could taste so good? The grapes were also a nice sweet touch on the palette. - Broccolini - This dish had a tangy/zesty taste combined with a bit of spice. I did enjoy it but found the tangy taste similar to a balsamic dressing and it overpowered the dish. I'd recommend this dish if you're sharing with 3 or more people but for 2 people it's too much. I also tried their Mille Feuille dessert which was delicious. While on the pricier side, the mango and pastry cream tasted fresh and it was a real pleasant dish to cap a dinner. Overall, great restaurant with a great vibe. Make sure you make a reservation (6:30PM and 8:30PM seatings) as the restaurant gets pretty full even on weekdays.

Yelp
Tried out the Casa La Palma (upstairs) and was seated at the bar, our bartender / server James was awesome! He kept us entertained, with just the right amount of sass. Cocktails & Wine are sure to please any palate. FIRM CHEESE WITH APRICOT ASPARAGUS, MEYER LEMON, BURRATA & BLACK TRUFFLE GRILLED HALIBUT WITH SALSA AND LEMON CHARRED BROCCOLINI garlic and chili Everything was delicious! We'll be back 100%

Yelp
Went with my girlfriend just for a few drinks. We sat down and they said they were booked for normal seating (place was pretty empty) so sat us down at the chef's bar. Let me just say, I love open kitchen concepts, maybe cause I enjoy cooking myself. La Palma has a nice brick oven, and wood fire grill. Something that is very under appreciated when sitting in "normal seating" The drinks we had were great and we ordered a Pizza because of the atmosphere and it looked so good coming out. I wish I had tried the chicken halves and also the assortment of open face sandwiches but at the time we were in a rush. We will have to try this place again if we are ever in the area. But the service, atmosphere and drinks were good for me!! 4/5

Yelp
I wasn't blown away from the lasagna like everyone makes it out to be-found it too creamy. The mezze rigatoni though was absolutely incredible and so was the apple cake brûlée-both were such a delight. The bread was basically wonder bread but the broccolini and potatoes were good! The service was spectacular so overall, liked it but didn't love it.
