"You can get a good feel for a Mexican restaurant by how hot their homemade salsa is, but wouldn't you rather take our word for it? Your mouth won't be en fuego but it is quite picante and they serve it with their endless basket of crisp tortilla chips. The plates come fresh out of the oven, so hot you can't touch 'em. Don't be fooled by this family-owned restaurant's modest appearance; this is some of the best Mexican food in town." - Eat.Sleep.Work.

Suburb food at reasonable prices. Service is friendly and efficient. The daily specials are an especially good deal. Highly recommended!

Got here at 8:15 they still served us delicious Mexican food. near lax and embassy suites south. Great parking. Huge plates great price

Google
Holy smokes. Best Mexican food that I've had in 20+ years. Excellent service. I had the honor of meeting the founder of the restaurant this morning. What an absolutely wonderful woman.

Google
Great little diner we found from our hotel at embassy South. It's a ten or so minute walk down center street. We ate here going and coming from LA. The salsa has a fantastic flavor you don't find anywhere around my State. Staff was friendly and catered to us perfectly. Highly recommend you stop in.

We looked at reviews and decided to try La Paz. We are glad we did! We were welcomed as soon as we walked in the door and it only got better from there! Beatrice and all of the staff were awesome , the food was great, and I highly recommend visiting La Paz! Walk, drive, however you do it, just get here!

Google
If you’ve had real mexican food, you know this isn’t it. Got the order of 3 tacos and the tortillas, aside from not being handmade- weren’t even warm, they broke as soon as I folded them, it seemed they were just placed a few seconds on the stove/griddle. We went here because they were highly rated but were disappointed. The waitress was really nice tho and it was a good atmosphere.

Google
Good was decent. Salsa either had excessive lime or vinegar for preservation I assume. I enjoy acidic so it was not an issue for me. Many items I wanted were unavailable. More ground beef items were recommended but that’s not my preference. Fish taco was good but the pieces were cut up extremely small.

Google
Ordered this to take to my mom, who is in a memory care facility. We took half for her and put the rest in the fridge for later. Cut to after our visit, she liked the menudo BTW, we get back home and my adult child starts to prepare the rest of the menudo only to find hair cuttings in the cold gelatinous broth. We threw it out, along with the rice we ordered. I gave the some of that menudo to my mother!! Never again.

Yelp
Cutting to the Chase: you are looking for a burrito, excellent salsa and a pleasant atmosphere, this is the place. From my understanding it has been around for over 40 years, and I can understand why. A truly good Asada burrito, surprisingly excellent salsa (just the right amount of heat). The ambience is storefront order up Mexican restaurant but it's elevated by the spacious booths and large tables. There is a larger dining room to the rear. Service behind the counter was very friendly which really made a nice experience. Though I did not have any, they did have Mexican beer on tap so I'm looking forward to a return visit. Portions are on a larger size and the burrito was easily shared with my dining partner. The Horchata was also very good, not too sweet which is the crutch of mediocre preparation. If you are in El Segundo this place is a go!

Yelp
Food was neither good nor bad. However, I do have to say that the food was "clean", meaning it wasn't oily and fatty. The carne asada and super burritos were solid, and the enchiladas were on par as well. We ordered to go but the ambiance of the restaurant looked inviting and may have included another star in my review. It's surrounded by homes so parking is plentiful and easy. From what little interaction I with the employees they were very friendly and cordial.

J K.

Yelp
First and last time I'll be here. Food, ingredients and service are subpar. It's too bad because this place has so much potential.

Asa S.

Yelp
The California burrito is so delicious! They also chips with every order and the atmosphere has a cozy feel that makes feel that you are at visiting a home rather then a restaurant.

Yelp
my go to spot for the best carnitas. I love the best! I frequented La Paz every few weeks throughout the 90's up to 2004 when they moved from the Main street location to this location. I lost track of them after they moved. I thought they closed. I left the state in 2008 and recently while staying at a hotel nearby I saw them online. I was so happy, I had to go. when I walked in they were all the same employees even the cook. I ordered my go to dish Carnitas Guadalajara. its served with rice, beans and a side of corn tortilas. The best I have eaten anywhere in my travels. it was as good as the last time I had this great dish at the old location. so good I came the next day for Lunch and ordered the same dish just to make sure I wasnt dreaming. No Dream , just the best mexican food in the area. Fantastic! I cant wait to come again when in town. ill make it a must stop spot! Gracias!

Yelp
Visiting LA for the first time, we were starved when we arrived! We were anxious to find a local establishment with authentic Hispanic food! We found it! Within walking distance from our hotel (DoubleTree), LaPaz was absolutely delicious! Even walking there was delightful! People we met along the way assured us how very good it was! It had been in business since 1978! Wow! Serving a local neighborhood for that long?! They sure are doing something right! The chips and salsa were fresh, brought to the table to tantalize our taste buds from the start. Then, then, Modelo Negro was ON TAP! WOW! So good and refreshingly wonderfully good! The fish tacos were spectacular. We even had a second round. The soup...I was in Heaven. Evelyn was a love. So kind and fun to have caring for us. Her smile was infectious! Go have some of the bestest food and service at La Paz! Tell Evelyn those crazy hippie gals from Michigan sent you!

Pamala S.

Yelp
Great authentic place, food and atmosphere. Glad to see this location is still around after all these years.

Annie W.

Yelp
Amazing. Live the food here, great staff. Very accommodating. Nothing bad to say. We go here at least once a week because walking distance. One of our favorite restaurants in el segundo

Michael V.

Yelp
Located in El segundo on center street la Paz is a couple of miles from LAX. I've been eating take out from here for years. I phone in my orders for pick up and they are always ready at the register when I arrive. Then I rush back to my office to eat my food while it's still hot. I've honestly never had a bad meal from la Paz. My colleagues and I eat here about 5 times a year and everyone enjoys their orders. The chips are awesome and pair well with the salsa and Guacamole. The only danger is that of filling up with chips and not being able to finish your meal. Nice portion sizes of tasty Mexican food for reasonable prices, what more is there to say. Support local mom and pop restaurants like la Paz.

Saadi Y.

Yelp
Always great spot for classic Mexican dishes.. great food and a great family running this place

Maggie C.

Yelp
I picked up my daughter from LAX and treated her and my friend at this place. My friend said that the meat was inferior and the texture was like the meat they serve in prison. My daughter said the carnitas taco was disgusting and would not eat it. Good thing I did not ask for a plate with meat. When we were done eating , I told the male waiter that I was ready to pay and he used a hand gesture to have me wait, he could have just told me to pay at the cashier"s up front instead of being rude.

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Affordable comfort food, multi-item combos made to be half eaten and saved for the next day. A great place for hungry high-schoolers and college students on a budget. The cheese enchiladas are classic, softened by red sauce, "Chile Relleno" is gooey gravy-like mix of very tender pork and poblano. Both come with rice and beans. A thick burrito is almost half carnitas, simply-seasoned soft shredded pork. Decent stuff, best before or after a night of drinking.

Angel A.

Yelp
This was my first and last time here. I called in to order. Ended up waiting an hour for my food. After waiting and trying the food food that I ordered for me and 2 other coworker was honestly one of the worse Mexican food I've had. Honestly had to be on my top 5 restaurants I would NOT go to or recommend. Come to my Tia's if you want good Mexican food

Tamara A.

Yelp
Hidden in a residential neighborhood, this is a el segundo favorite. Wet supreme burrito with ground beef- 2 star California burrito- 4 stars Service- 3 stars

Ashley P.

Yelp
I came here for lunch and unfortunately the food was very subpar. The chips and salsa were just okay. The chips needed salt and the salsa had a bit of a tang which is unusual. I ordered a horchata and the fish taco combo. The horchata tasted very watered down. The fish tacos were super disappointing. The fish looked and tasted like it was frozen and thawed and placed on top of the tortilla. There was an over abundance of lettuce and the smallest amount of sauce for the taco. The rice and beans were the best part of the meal. The service was okay as well. There was a male employee who was super kind and attentive however our main waitress was a bit condescending towards us. Overall though, I wouldn't return back.

Neal N.

Yelp
La Paz catered a meeting I was attending and what a delight! They prepared 2 party trays of tacos, chicken and shredded beef. The crispy crunch of the taco shells just complimented the taste of the chicken and beef. But the true highlight for me was their delicious rice and beans! Dang! Those were delicious and I couldn't help over indulging on them. The chips and salsa they provided was a big hit for everyone in attendance. They offer multiple salsas, but I was instantly drawn to one of them in particular. It hard the seeds from the chilies, so I knew it was going to pack some heat. After eating the food catered by La Paz, I definitely need to visit them and eat there in person.

Harold L.

Yelp
Lard lard everywhere. Everything is made with Lard. Went after seeing good reviews online. Staff very nice. No mention of lard on their website. If you don't eat pork or pork products for health or other reasons don't go here. I am sure they have good food if you eat lard but even the rice is made with lard. Never heard of rice made with lard but they have it. They did comp our drinks but ending up spending $30 on Lyft to and from our hotel and had to go back and eat cafe food at the hotel. Just be aware of what they serve.

Yelp
My husband and I were blatantly ripped off when my husband went to buy chips and salsa. They charged him $26 for a bowl of salsa and 2 small bags of chips. I called them to validate that they had charged him correctly. The woman who was the manager told me that he was charged correctly and that he received 24 oz of salsa.. When we emptied the bowl, I measured it by fillimg it with water and it only held 16 oz.. Even if we would have received 24 oz, I still believe it was too much money. They did not offer us any apology for our valid complaint. I still have the bowl to prove it. I am repoting them to California Bureau of weights and measires. I rated them one star because I could not rate them zero. They have lost a good customer.

Yelp
Stopped by randomly and was pleasantly surprised by how great this place was. My son and I split the shrimp fajitas and it was more than enough! Super fresh tortillas, fantastic tasting shrimp and onions and peppers and tomatoes- it was YUMMY!!

Gabriela R.

Yelp
The food was good! The server made a good recommendation on the grilled fish taco. I am picky about my asada. I like that they grill then cut the meat. They have two choices of salsa, one mild and one that's not too spicy, but it hits, it has like a vinegar taste.

Dan S.

Yelp
Used to be awesome at the old location back in the 80s. Average food. Slow service. I guess we were the only people there for a reason.

Pedro R.

Yelp
Food is always great here, the menudo is delicious, the carne asada burrito and the carnitas plate are excellent. The service is friendly all of the servers, cashier are friendly and courteous, they remembered you and engage in nice chats. They bring you their delicious salsa and always check to see if everything is ok. The remodel has gone well and the ambiance of the different rooms is vey nice. I highly recommend this place for us food and the service.

David P.

Yelp
We are frequent patrons of LaPaz Mexican restaurant. The food is amazing. The recipes authentic and delicious. The restaurant is family owned. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The service is the best. Always our food is always fresh and hot. Always stop by when we're in town. The restaurant has a bright and welcoming atmosphere.

Zach J.

Yelp
Wow their prices went up SO MUCH and their quality & quantity went down. Very disappointing but i also get it. I grew up loving this place and eating there all the time. The Service here is always amazing.

Karolyne G.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here for breakfast but had lunch food instead. He had the #3, which was 2 Enchiladas and a Taco. He ate everything on his plate. I had the Carne asada burrito and it was huge. I did add cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Beatrice was very patient with us as we took a long time looking at the menu. She checked on us several times as well. She was very friendly, and we shared a few stories back and forth. Thank you, Beatrice!!

Jay K.

Yelp
Yes. Food was excellent. Went for lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Will go back again. Tuesday lunch time was quiet. Service was fast. Margaritas were gre@t.

Cam M.

Yelp
Food is always great! However my last order was missing a Tito's kids meal. Very disappointing for my grandson! :(. Only took off a sat because of that!

Florence M.

Yelp
We came in on a Tuesday around 3:30 they have a lot of parking and from the outside the restaurant has a nice welcoming feel. There was only one other customer in the restaurant, so that was great we were seated right away. I ordered a margarita but they were out of them so I got a sangria which was delicious. Our server said they also had a cosmopolitan and gave me a small sample, it was ok but I stuck with the sangria. I had an asada wet burrito, with red sauce. It was good but could have used a little more salt or something, can't figure out just what. This visit went down hill for me when our original server left around 4:15, there were three other women on staff but no one never checked on us I had to ask for another drink, ask for the bill it was awful considering all they were doing were filling up sauce cups for future to go orders. What was a good experience quickly turned into an ok experience at best.

Barbara P.

Yelp
Food was great!Portions were plentiful, the service was excellent and the margarita was delish. We will return again.

Robert I.

Yelp
Great place! Atmosphere out of this world. Top quality dining you'll want to bring your friends a must go

Sherry C.

Yelp
We've been eating here at least once a week for over 20 years. We have also catered from here for several occasions, never to be disappointed. The food is excellent, the staff is always gracious, friendly, and accommodating, and the restaurant is cozy. Everything about La Paz makes you feel at home. In fact, we usually run into neighbors and friends when we are here. It is always the first choice when someone is asked, "Where do you want to eat?" Let me add that La Paz is also easy on your wallet. I honestly don't know how they do it. If you love Mexican food like we do, La Paz on Center Street in El Segundo is your place!

Melisa C.

Yelp
This our go to spot in El Segundo for crispy tacos, taquitos and asada fries. The service is always good and they give you free chips and salsa. They have different types of salsa with different levels of heat, red being the least spicy. My bf usually likes to get the green sauce and puts it on everything. We often order ground beef and chicken crispy tacos, we like the crispy taco shells and the salsa they put on top that adds just a bit of spice. These tacos come with chopped lettuce and shredded cheese on top and the tacos typically come pretty loaded. The ground beef tacos tend to be oilier than the chicken ones but not to the point where the tacos gets soggy. The taquitos are pretty standard, I do like the guacamole on top (can never have too much guac). The asada fries are pretty good when they don't over season the fries. We try to get them with no salt and extra guac on the side so that they aren't too salty. The fries are the thin kind, not steak fries and are usually pretty crispy. Overall we love going to this place and always recommend it to friends coming to visit who want Mexican.

Christie S.

Yelp
I love coming here. The food & service is amazing! The Diet Pepsi they serve is the cherry on top - their mix is perfection. Last week, I had their breakfast Chorizo & Eggs All Day Breakfast (very tasty). Today, I had their Nachos Supreme (which is my go to). The ground beef is what really makes this dish - and the jalapeños are a must! I also recommend their salsa. I crave their salsa. It is so flavorful, AND with some heat. If I was a crackhead, I might equate La Paz's salsa to crack. Hmm... LaPazSalsaHead. Thanks, La Paz for providing our beautiful city with great food!!

Sherie J.

Yelp
I have been coming to La Paz since they opened in El Segundo. It's always been a go to place. I have noticed the past several times that the quality of the food is just not the same. There is no flavor, it's just blah. Hate to say it. Hopefully they turn it around.

Andie L.

Yelp
The best place to go when craving a michelada!! I've also had their California burrito, carne Asada burrito, ceviche, and pozole in the numerous times I've gone... All amazing! The service is great as well, everyone is SO nice & check on you often. They're very generous w/ the chips & salsa too! 10/10 recommend

SoCal R.

Yelp
Prices keep going up and the amount of food given doesn't feel worth it anymore unfortunately. Now taking away unlimited chips and salsa has brought down the experience. Service has always been excellent and the food consistently tastes good but now is feeling too high in price for the quantity and quality given.

Julian S.

Yelp
Don't let the humble exterior fool you. Great food and about as great and genuine service you can find. Generous portions and nice presentation. Attentive service with just the right amount of attention and not annoying or fake. Two types of salsas for chips - regular and hot (green).

Ian J.

Yelp
La Paz has the absolute best staff, food, and prices around! I love this place and highly recommend it!

James G.

Yelp
My first time here! I like the easy parking and casual atmosphere inside. Everyone was friendly and you could tell the other guests were long-time repeat customers. I am as thrilled to find Modelo on draft! I was not crazy about the salsa and the chips were not very fresh. I had a ground beef taco and enchilada. Ground beef is very important to me, so was very happy they had it. I did not like the orange sauce on the enchilada. I would like to come back and try their taco burrito next time.

Samantha T.

Yelp
I was expecting a little more from La Paz based on lines I've seen outside and the Yelp reviews. I got the El Jefe burrito which is something i normally wouldn't get but i wanted a simpler burrito with chicken. I added sour cream rice and beans to make it a bit more fun and thank god i did! I thought the chicken would have some more flavor to it or something but it was really really plain and everything lacked flavor overall. I do have faith for other menu items cuz the salsa was pretty good. They also give a huge bag of chips (i ordered take out) but even those seemed plain. I'd consider coming back and ordering something else, but with all the Mexican food options I think I'd be more apt to try elsewhere.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Love this place! Great family owned restaurant. Love the tacos and enchiladas, reasonably priced. Near LAX so easy to stop by after or before a flight.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
I wish I listened to the other reviews. First time here and I ordered the #3: 2 enchiladas and 1 taco. The food had absolutely no flavor. Even the enchilada sauce was bland and disgusting. Beans and rice extremely salty. One of the worst Mexican restaurants I've visited in California. Never wasting my money again.

Linda O.

Yelp
Food is very good, service is superior, and the prices are so reasonable This is the place for good Mexican food with an extensive menu

Amy R.

Yelp
Forgot to take a before but the Chile verde enchiladas were a hit! Picture speaks for it self. Will be ordering for dinner tonight as well!!

Maria N.

Yelp
The service was bad. I had barely received my food when the server brought out the bill. I was planning on getting dessert but they didn't even ask if I wanted to order anything else before giving the check. Therefore i just left. I did not feel welcomed. This is not Mexican food. This is white washed Mexican food

Genesis T.

Yelp
This is my go to place when eating Mexican food. It's pretty good here. I eat here at least twice a week.

Parm B.

Yelp
I love love the tacos! The family owned restaurant are so friendly. I go here monthly! Or even order it on Uber

Jay R.

Yelp
The service is good, the ambiance is okay. The food & choices have gone down hill since it was recently sold. It was our go -to but probably won't be our first choice anymore.

Eileen F.

Yelp
Came here to eat with my sister who lives close by, we sat in a booth they brought chips, salsa and menus- as we chatted 3 other women walked it and a gentleman- I guess regulars.. waitress and owner is catering to everyone else except my sister and I. We waited.. finally getting the attention of a waitress we place our orders- I ordered a kids size beans (I just had surgery) so I have to eat small portions- BEANS WERE SPICEY!! I can't see kids eating these let alone a person who just had surgery a few weeks ago. Attitudes of staff were focused on their regulars. I won't be back!!
