"La Paz Waterfall Gardens is Costa Rica’s most-visited private nature reserve and animal sanctuary. While walking the park’s two miles of perfectly designed trails, you’ll happen on exhibits that showcase jungle cats, butterflies, monkeys, snakes, and frogs. The hummingbird park, home to every color of the diminutivebirds, is particularly enchanting. La Paz’s five waterfalls are the main event. Suspended observationbridges were designed to offer breathtaking experiences, and allow you to snap pictures under the waterfalls themselves. Notably, all materials used in building the platforms and trails werecarried in by foot to reduce negative environmental impact. By Travesías"

La Paz Waterfall Gardens blew us away! We did not have this on our original itinerary but decided to go the day prior to leaving CR and was so glad we were able to fit it into. It was truly one of the top highlights of our entire trip. The entire staff there is so pleasant and helpful. We got up close with vibrant toucans, playful monkeys, and even saw big cats like jaguars —all in a beautiful, well-maintained sanctuary. The trails through the forest were lush and peaceful, leading to five absolutely stunning waterfalls. Each one had its own charm, and the views were incredible. Be ready for stairs, but it’s so worth it. This is a must-visit day trip from San José! Arrive early, wear good shoes, and don’t miss the buffet lunch—it’s surprisingly good!

La Paz Waterfall Gardens was a mixed experience for me. The waterfalls themselves were absolutely stunning; well worth the visit for their beauty alone. However, I was a bit disappointed that the animals were not in their natural habitat. It felt more like walking through a zoo than experiencing a true nature park. If your main goal is to see the waterfalls, you’ll enjoy it, but if you’re hoping for a completely wild and natural experience, it may not meet your expectations.

%100 recommended if you have time in your trip perfect to spend your day. Take your time not rushed.. You can fly drone 🥳 Very organize, easy parking area. Feel is good to be close animals and several waterfalls which you can access in close proximity. When you try to reach waterfalls of course you are going in all the way down but good thing you don’t need to walk back; shuttle bus will take you back from the last fall at the bottom of the hill.

Amazing park to spend the day walking through the animal exhibits and taking the waterfall trails. They have a big variety of birds, butterflies, reptiles, a few monkeys, ocelot, puma and jaguar. All rescued from different situations and none taken from the wild. The food at the restaurants is good. The waterfall trails are in good shape and take you very close to the waterfalls. The price as a tourist is quite high in comparison to what you pay to enter a park in Canada but I would say worth the money regardless.

We loved it, and It was definitely a pretty cool place. Excellently cared for, clean, and well maintained and the food was excellent. There’s quite a few things to see. The waterfalls are amazing, I’m not sure ethically how I feel about wild cats and monkeys in captivity (unless they are rescues) but their enclosures were nice and the animals looked well fed. The only thing I can fault the place for is the high cost. The food can be included with the ticket for a little extra more than the ticket, but we paid theme park ticket costs and still had to finish our trip in a tourist trap overpriced store at the end of the park tour.

Your ONE STOP SHOP for everything Costa Rica! If you’re speed running Costa Rica or are on a tight schedule, definitely add La Paz to your itinerary! You’ll get to see all sorts of birds including Toucans, and Sloths, monkeys, snakes, frogs, wildcats, and more as well as so many beautiful waterfalls! Also if you get the lunch buffet, you’ll be treated to a smorgasbord of delightful foods and drinks! Mixed the tea and juice and an even better surprise!

A great experience. The waterfall is the last part. There is a selection of enclosures to get close to various animals before hand. The restaurant has a good selection of food and drink. It quite a walk down our. There is a shuttle to take you back to the top. If you book a tour like we did they can pick you up from the bottom to leave. And a gift shop at the bottom too for any last minute souvenirs.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park was the very first place we visited after landing in Costa Rica—and what a perfect way to start our trip! We were on our way to La Fortuna and decided to stop here along the way. We’re so glad we chose this spot over other options. It turned out to be a fantastic decision. The park is beautifully maintained and full of natural beauty. There is an entrance fee, and it does involve a fair bit of walking (including a good number of stairs), so just a heads-up for anyone who may have difficulty with that—it can be a bit tiring. But honestly, it’s completely worth it. We were blown away by the variety of vibrant flowers, exotic birds, butterflies, sloths, jungle cats, and more. Every turn had something beautiful to see. The whole experience felt like stepping into a peaceful nature paradise. We ended our visit with a delicious lunch at the restaurant inside the park, which also had an incredible view. It was the perfect way to wrap up our time there. This place is definitely a must-visit if you’re in Costa Rica. Highly recommended! Check out the amazing pictures and videos I’ve shared—you’ll see why we loved it so much.
