La Pinede Plage (La Croix-Valmer, French Riviera / Provence) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Just down the coast from Saint-Tropez, on the south-facing side of the peninsula, is Gigaro Plage, a beautiful little beach that rivals any on the Côte d’Azur, but without the crowds. If that sounds like the way to do the French Riviera, then we’ve got the hotel for you; La Pinède Plage is what a naive visitor might expect Cannes to be, before they’re overwhelmed by the sheer urbanity of the place." - Tablet Hotels

We loved staying at this perfect resort on a great beach with a lovely pool and restaurant and great room for our family!!! First time in Croix Valmer and we’re so happy here. Beautiful location and amazing front desk staff helped us with all of our excursions including beach club, boat day and restaurant reservations. Lovely breakfast and restaurant. We wish we could come back every year!!

What a beautiful place, tranquil setting under the pines, and beautiful beach. We wanted to switch off completely and this is the place to do it. |The staff are all super friendly and the place is spotless. |We had a family room on the side as we had the last room available and had thought it would not be as nice as a sea view, but the balcony was overlooking the pines and you could see the sea too… plus if you had a child, this has a small extra single bedroom. The room was also spotless and had everything you needed.|The restaurant and bar area both overlook the sea, so always an amazing view.|The beach is combed every morning to remove any shells, it really is special.|To be able to dip in the sea and then shower by the pool and dip in the pool also a special treat. There were plenty of beds under the cover of the pine trees by the pool and also on the beach if you prefer beach.|On our last day we hired 2 bikes from reception to go and visit the nearby town. So convenient to be able to do this from the hotel. If it were not so hot we would have gone further afield.|The hotel is also twinned with Chateau de Valmer, so you can use their spa facilities, this is a Relais Chateau hotel and so if you are fortunate enough to have stayed in those, you will know the level of standard, that also applied to this hotel.|It is expensive to stay here in comparison to the neighbouring villages, but this really is very special.

I visited for lunch and found the food and drinks to be overpriced for what was offered. Portions were small and the quality was nothing exceptional. Service was on the slower side. Additionally, there is an extra charge for using the sun beds, which I also felt was overpriced. When booking for lunch, it is implied that sun bed use is included, but this is not the case, so be aware to avoid disappointment.

We spent three nights and days at the hotel and very much enjoyed our stay. The location right on the beach is marvellous, the staff is very friendly and service-minded.The food is excellent. The atmosphere is very much like in a beach club. If I had to criticize something, the room we had (second floor facing the beach) was a bit to small, but as we booked with one day advance notice, I don't complain.

We had originally booked for 1 night and then extended for an extra night. Staff is so friendly and professional. Amenities are fantastic beach is a step out of hotel. It is truly a 4 star hotel not a Mikey mouse rating that most put to trap visitors. Food is fantastic. They have an Italian chef who really knows what is doing. Upon check out we asked if we could stay by the beach and this was very much welcomed. They have guest room for people like us who want to stay and then have a shower. That room is so elegant and clean and well kitted with everything one needs. Fresh towels in abundance. We are soooo coming back. It is out of this world. Feels like somewhere in the Caraibe. Well done guys

Excellent hotel and service. Beautiful location. Serene, peaceful and relaxing. The staff was exceptional, particularly Lucas and Christopher (Voituriers). When I experienced a major problem with my rental car, and not being fluent in French, Lucas and Christopher communicated with the rental car company and the repair garage, and resolved the problem for me. They were perfectly professional and efficient. They both made my visit so much better.

I visited La Pinede Plage a few years ago for dinner with friends staying there. It was an oasis of calm, chilled out sunset cocktails and a delicious meal. I vowed I would stay at the hotel at some point, and in early June this year, I did. I booked a week as part of a bigger holiday staying in different hotels in the South of France. On day 1, I realised I'd made a big mistake. Even though early June, it was bedlam with screaming kids and screaming parents - including parents shouting to kids from the pool area to the beach and vice versa. I just hadn't realised this was such a family focused resort - my fault of course.||On day 1 we had a late lunch in the restaurant after being told it closed at 4. Although we arrived at 3, our waitress made no secret of the fact she was frustrated with late arrivals. As she served other tables she was rolling her eyes to the other staff, and didn't hide her frustration with us, telling us "the kitchen closes soon" when we were asking for guidance on menu choices. Her attitude was poor, and seemed to be the same with other customers too. However, that was not the biggest problem with lunch, the issue was the quality of the food - I simply could not believe the 'catch of the day' fish quality - it was a dried up, clearly previously frozen piece of fish. We should have sent it back, but it was day 1, meal 1, and we wanted to give the hotel a chance. The lunch (shared starter, 1 beer, water, fish of the day plus a salad) cost nearly 180 Euros. We were staggered, because we'd been in 5 star hotels that trip where the food and drink was priced the same, but the quality was significantly ( not marginally) better. I think it's such a shame for the hotel to be associated with Michelin star chefs, and be sitting literally by the sea and serve fish that is such poor quality. ||So, we gave the hotel another chance and had dinner there. OMG, dreadful quality, tasteless food again. This meal cost ca 240 Euros for the 2 of us, and unfortunately it was another top dollar poor meal (my husband had the lamb, despite seeing another couple complain about it - he wishes he had listened). ||There were few staff who appeared to us to be committed and wanting to do a good job for the customer when we were there - the young guy at the bar, the waitress with "faith" tattooed on her neck, the cleaner, and the guy with the shaved sides of his head at the main desk - but all the rest appeared surly and looked unhappy. This was such a stark contrast to the attitude of the staff in the other hotels. It was like everything was too much trouble, there was no proactive customer service at all.||I'm so sorry, because I was so looking forward to this hotel the most, but the location isn't actually that great, the beach at Cavalaire-sur-mer is far nicer (even the beach clubs have beds spaced further apart than at La Pinede Plage), the staff make you feel uncomfortable, and the food is simply dreadful compared to other places that are as expensive (or even cheaper) in the south of France. Plus is a kids playground, where parents just let them run wild just wasn't for us. Maybe we just picked a bad week for everyone concerned. We did wander up to the Chateau for a look, the receptionist met us with the same disdain as we had seen at La Pinede Plage, but it did seem a better quality place and if we were to ever return, we would stay here instead.

Yelp
Told us they allow dogs but we couldn't bring our small service dog to the beach or the pool. She's very well trained, it was the end of the day, everyone was leaving anyway so really no one would have cared but they couldn't show any flexibility or understanding, even though we paid over $1000/night. Not to mention that service dogs are allowed everywhere but I won't get into the legality of their policy right now. Really disappointed. This is not the kind of service you expect from a place like this. I've never been treated this way anywhere. We couldn't get a refund either, even though we had to check out minutes after checking in. This is just not how you run a luxury hotel. The pool was packed with screaming kids anyway, and so was the beach, which is very small strip of land. The sand is rocky / not soft. Needless to say we will not be coming back. The original La Pinede was in st Tropez and is now Cheval Blanc. Not sure what this was.

Yelp
I strenuously advise ordering the food that I got listed below... and perhaps the rest of the menu is too be avoided too. The specifics of my experience: Waitstaff: Poorly attentive. They sprinted at you with each food delivery, threw it down, and scampered away before you could so much as ask for butter for the bread or cheese for the risotto. I had to get up each and every time to seek out waitstaff to serve my needs. 14 euro: Mixed octopus- squid with "local" seasoning. A five bite portion of mentioned seafood drenched with heavy, unpleasant olive oil. A quarter cup or olive oil remained in the bowl when I was done. Worse than what might be found in a Vegas buffet. 31 euro: langoustine risotto- 10 bites of rice that was overpowered by an excess of herbs that left the dish tasting like pencil shavings. 4 bites of overcooked langoustine also overly seasoned with too much salt. The manager responding to all of the copious negative reviews on TripAdvisor keeps mentioning that their pricing is equivalent to the local restaurants. But the local restaurants are not serving small portioned one star quality food. I live in Manhattan and I am used to high prices and small portions. But this food and service is diner quality masquerading as a five star restaurant.

Yelp
I've never been treated so poorly at a hotel. I have a service dog that I am legally required to have due to a medical condition. I called the hotel before I arrived to ask if I could bring my dog and they said yes. I arrived and I was then told she could only stay in my room. She couldn't be with me anywhere else on property. I not only had to explain my situation and show that she's required to be with me medically, I had to speak with multiple people at the hotel and was embarrassed and discriminated against. To make matters worse I only received half of my money back! Shocked and disappointed. If you have a medical condition and need support, I recommend that you stay somewhere else. The hotel is not welcoming to people that need assistance.
