It's a bit intimidating to write a review for a restaurant whose owner reacts to negative reviews with sarcastic comments (e.g. 'You are ridiculous'), but never acknowledges positive ones... However, we were there on Friday, 27th August and spent the day in their 'lido'. We took an umbrella with two beds for 25 euro, the other lines were 20 (2nd-3rd row) and 15 (the other ones). We paid 5 euro for an extra bed. The sea was perfect, the beach clean. I missed the services linked to a paid day in an equipped beach: we found out that the shower was for payment (1 euro, but we were in four) and our visit to the restrooms was shocking (imagine a day with two small kids, where you cannot even approach the toilet, it's so dirty).
We found the bar staff nice and available, they insisted on respecting mask wearing inside the bar, hand sanitizer available at the entrance, very professional.
We had our table booked for the evening in their restaurant and this was a strange experience:
- the chief waiter (restaurant manager?) was unfriendly and he obviously didn't care for reviews. However, the younger waiters were really kind.
- the food was good. I would not recommend their mussel soup: the sauce was good, but I (also) found the mussels dirty (they were not washed properly before cooked, which can be dangerous). The octopus salad was enjoyable. The main dishes we ordered (pasta with clams, pasta with 'San Pietro' fish eggs and couscous with fish soup) were delicious. All this with two glasses of white wine and a beer for 100 euro, acceptable for a dinner on soft beach sand lit by torches.
So, if you want to eat good food and don't care about service, this is the right place to go in Selinunte.
