When I researched hotels in Luxembourg City for our family trip, this tiny gem of a B&B came up with high ratings and now having stayed 5 nights, I can report that it exceeded even our highest expectations. Of course, our experience was enhanced by booking all four hotel rooms so we had the hotel and staff to ourselves while visiting the city. The owners, Francoise & David, are a wonderful couple who created this beautiful property 10 years ago in a perfect Grund location (near the elevator to old town) with a cliffside as an amazing interior wall. Breakfast is worth including in a stay and the staff does everything they can to make the B&B an enjoyable experience. |Note: there is no elevator and each room has a separate floor so the last room is 4 stories up with a winding staircase.

A gem within a gem! Our family had a wonderful time visiting Luxembourg for the first time and it was amazing, in part due to the amazing accommodation at La Pipistrelle! Our host was lovely and gave us all the great tips upon arriving. The B&B is connected to the side of the rock which makes the rooms fascinating. It is conveniently located right by the elevator that takes you up towards the City Square. I highly recommend. ||Pro tip: spend the extra money on breakfast. It is fantastic.

A very comfortable and quirky hotel that is excellently situated for culture and nightlife. The narrow spiral staircase to the rooms has a wall that once formed part of the fortress. The room had a coffee-maker and kettle, plus free wi-fi and a TV.||The staff were extremely friendly and were very happy to help with our queries and to give local information. The area itself was relatively quiet and suited us perfectly. There is a lift to the main street nearby, and a bus shelter just across the road.

Amazing location in Grund neighborhood. Easy check in, great rooms and service. The internal stone wall, weathered stairwell, and nice breakfast ($) were all wonderful perks. There is a free elevator right nearby to take you to top of plateau if you don’t want to or aren’t able to walk up the hill.

Very nice building Unesco protected! The rooms can be cleaner. The bed should have been double, but they were 2 single beds connected. The location was very nice, however next time I would choose at the upper part of the town. I did check in and check out by myself, which was a bit awkward. Parking is difficult in this area because it's crowded at the weekend. This hotel doesn't have elevator, so you hear the sound of people going up and down. The room was very spacious. They do not have any amenities at the room (and they explain that because of environmental protection 🙄). One of the 4 windows doesn't have curtains, so light was coming in the morning. They have left a homemade apple pie for us, which was very kind (and delicious).

I recently booked a stay at this hotel, drawn to its charm and unique stone walls. However, upon arrival, I discovered a serious issue: extensive mold growth on the walls. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they acknowledged that “the walls are alive” and “there’s nothing we can do about it” due to the natural stone. I explained that I am sensitive to black mold and requested a refund and that we would stay someplace else. They offered to move me to a room without exposed stone walls. However, given the small size of the hotel (only four rooms total), and I could smell the mold immediately upon entering the building, I felt unsafe staying there and chose to leave. Unfortunately, the hotel refused to issue any kind of refund, leaving me not only without accommodations but also out of pocket for a room I couldn’t safely use. I reached out twice since the date we were supposed to stay there (early/mid December 2024) and they have not responded to me. Mold is a serious health issue, especially for vulnerable guests, and I would urge the hotel to address this problem immediately. Until then, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who values their health and safety.

Perfect location on edge of old town. Walk up the road into center is 5 min. Hotel is a very nice building rebuilt to modern standard. Service was perfect to have a code access on late arrival. Sadly I had no time for breakfast, next time! Rooms are large and quite clean, though bathroom could use some mold deapclean need. Minor point was that someone smoked downstairs outside and it came into my room, so had to close window in evening, but ventilation worked well.

This was a nice find! Located in the steep valley below the city (called the Grund). It is a boutique hotel, very small (I think four rooms total on different levels) and build against the valley rock wall. The proprietor greeted us at the sidewalk which was a good thing because it is located at the intersection of four narrow streets with some traffic and no place to park. So my first tip is to pay in advance for hotel parking. I believe they have only space for maybe two cars as their parking is a wide spot on a narrow road close to the hotel. There are public lots close by but they were filled so getting parking ahead of time will save frustration. We were able to quickly unload our car and I was able to park.||Hotel check in was smooth. Very tiny space. Hotel has an excellent breakfast but you need to give them an approximate time you will be down (likely because quarters are tight and they have only one person servicing).||The room was a surprise. It was a suite and was actually large and well decorated. Comfortable master bedroom and a sitting area with a comfortable sofa-bed. Bathroom was very nice, modern, rock wall. Problem was privacy. I understand from reading past reviews that some were bothered by the glass enclosure giving, well, no privacy. They solved that problem by frosting the glass. But, still has a privacy issue.||Another tip. The hotel is near an elevator that takes one to the main town above. But, there are two elevators. When we had seen enough of the town and wanted to decend to the Grund we used iphone navigation to the elevator which we took down and started a very long walk only to realize there is actually a second elevator and we had taken the wrong one (had to go back to the top and walk down as we could not find the other elevator). ||I really like this hotel and found it very comfortable. I would recommend that anyone staying here do their homework on parking and how to access the sites to see efficiently. Hotel can help with that.
