La Pirogue

We stayed for 7 nights at the end of the winter months. The resort is perfect! It’s full of charm and gave us a relaxing holiday. The staff are always so kind and helpful. ||We ate on half board package and the buffet restaurant was always filled with good quality choices. We also ate at coconut cafe, also good and Le Patio (sugar beach buffet). It was nice to try restaurants across both hotels. ||Water at dinner (not sure if this was tap?) was charged at 175 rupees. This really should be free at meals. Cocktails were expensive, most were around £8 (back home prices!) and the beer was similar priced (and half pint). Bar Buddha does serve large pint beers however. ||We hired a car to see the island and always got parked in the car park. Our room was clean, well maintained and had a lovely feel to the bungalow. It was closer to bar so we could hear some music noise until around 11pm most nights.||After driving around the island and seeing other tourist places (example Grand Baie) we are so happy with choosing La Pirogue and reccomended to others.

We’ve just had the most wonderful two weeks at La Pirogue Hotel and honestly, we can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond in every possible way. Nothing was ever too much trouble.||Our boys have some dietary requirements, and the care and attention shown across all the restaurants — including those in Sugar Beach — was truly exceptional. Every single meal was handled with so much kindness and thoughtfulness; it took all the stress out of travelling with children who have specific needs.||The hotel itself is a perfect balance: there’s so much to do — water sports, kids’ activities, incredible dining — but it never feels overwhelming. It has this rare mix of being full of possibilities while remaining deeply relaxing. With two children aged five and eight, we loved how family-friendly it was, but in such a subtle, discreet way that it still felt like a luxurious escape for us as parents.||The accommodation was beautiful, the setting breathtaking, and the service second to none. While every member of staff was wonderful, there are a few people who made our stay truly unforgettable: Lobin for making sure every meal was looked after and always going above and beyond for us, Wendy, Sharon, & Sophie for making our experience at coconut cafe so relaxed and welcoming. Sookoo for his warm welcoming smile, Krishna for running a brilliant kids club, Aurélie & Augun for helping us with all the boys dietary needs and Vijay for his delicious pickles and sharing his knowledge and passion. Each of them brought something special to our experience and made us feel so cared for.||La Pirogue gave us memories we will treasure forever, and we can’t wait to return.

We had the warmest of welcomes at La Pirogue, instantly made to feel at home. The service has been wonderfully attentive without ever feeling overbearing. The view of the beach is unbeatable, and the swimming is perfect with calm, waist-deep water right out to the reef. A highlight was our meal at the Coconut Café, where our waiter Alexandre looked after us brilliantly. A truly memorable stay, highly recommended!

Our experience at La Pirogue was simply unforgettable. The hotel is stunning, with beautifully maintained facilities and a spectacular setting. The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, always making sure that nothing is missing and making you feel special at all times. We came here to celebrate our honeymoon, and we couldn’t have made a better choice. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with numerous thoughtful touches that made the start of our stay magical. We were even invited to a dinner at one of the hotel’s bars, where every detail had been perfectly arranged. The food was delicious, and the service from the staff was simply outstanding. We would like to give special thanks to Vikash and Nigel, who made our honeymoon dinner even more special with their kindness, professionalism, and impeccable attention to detail. I would 100% recommend La Pirogue to anyone looking for a unique experience with flawless service and an unforgettable atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

We overall enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is one of the best in Mauritius — a beautiful wide sandy beach, clear lagoon, plenty of palm trees, and lush greenery. The hotel grounds are vast and never feel crowded, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Being on the west coast, the sunsets are absolutely stunning. The staff is generally friendly, although at times a bit too eager — we were often asked to order drinks or had our plates cleared before finishing our meals. We stayed in a garden villa. While it is somewhat maintained, it clearly needs renovation. The window frames are at least 20 years old, and both the bed and mattress felt very worn and unstable. Overall, the villa and some parts of the hotel feel outdated. The beach could be better maintained — we noticed quite a few cigarette butts and debris, which was disappointing. We visited in the off-season (July 2025), and the pricing was reasonable. However, based on our experience, I wouldn't consider it good value at high-season rates. Another point worth mentioning is the hotel’s limited adaptation to climate change. While they promote their sustainability efforts, these seem to be limited to reusable water bottles and a few water fountains. There are no visible solar panels or other meaningful eco-friendly initiatives. Additionally, the swimming pools are not heated, making them unusable during the cooler months of July and August.

Came here for a work experience, check in was smooth, dinner was amazing and my room was fantastic. My room smelted well it was clean and it was the best cuddle bath I took in a while. I would highly recommend this for both families and couples

Wow!!!! We stayed in the beach pavilion. I chose it..No regrets! 30 steps to the soft sand, we saw beautiful sunsets and sunrise colours from our private patio.(And rainbows) The wide beach with warm reef waters to swim in. I loved the stand up paddle board that we could use for free. We felt comfortable, relaxed and happy the whole 10 days and didnt want to leave! As an animal lover, I loved seeing cats and dogs. The staff were all wonderful! Happy staff, lots with a good sense of humour and very kind. Dean makes amazing cocktails! The bars have comfy seating. Amazing food! Oh the desserts!! We got a boat from our beach front to swim with the dolphins. The list goes on... Everything was amazing!! Thank you for making it the perfect holiday in paradise.

This is by far the most amazing resort I have ever stayed in. Beautiful boat houses to stay in. Free water activities like paddle boards, pedal boats, life jackets, sail boats and wind surfers. So many amenities for all ages. Beautiful pools ...and the beach is a lagoon and just gorgeous to swim in. The buffets were incredible ..with so much variety and themed dinner nights. Incredible breakfasts. The staff are the most happy and helpful lovely people. Just a 10 minute walk to local shops and supermarket. Cannot fault this incredible place.
