"After a day spent exploring Montjuïc's gardens and museums, this cozy corner restaurant in nearby El Poble-Sec makes for an ideal dinner stop. Simply decorated, with bright green walls, a long wood bar, and a handful of tables, La Platilleria doesn’t have a fixed menu; rather, the kitchen offers a daily selection of seasonal, locally sourced small plates. There are Spanish stalwarts like patatas bravas , pan con tomate , and Ibérico ham, but it’s worth trying the specials, which might include a rich dish of braised oxtail atop polenta, or osso buco with sweet potatoes. A small but well-curated selection of Spanish wine, cava , and craft beer is available—if you’re feeling daring (or thrifty), order a 3euro ($3.35) pinguino , a penguin-shaped carafe of rustic local wine."
I had an amazing time at La Platilleria as a solo diner. I luckily got a seat at the bar, well before it got too busy for walk-ins. I chose to have a few gildas, the special beetroot carpaccio with feta and tzatziki, as well as the oxtail which I'd read so much about. For dessert I was recommended the caramelised banana with dulce de leche and it did not disappoint. The service, food and wine were all amazing. And to top it off, the pricing was incredibly fair! I'll gladly be back next time in Barcelona.

Some of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. The restaurant exceeded all my expectations! Every dish was beautifully presented, making each plate a work of art. The combination of flavors was simply out of this world—perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. On top of that, the atmosphere and ambiance were incredibly pleasant, creating a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

This restaurant is a real find. My wife and I loved every dish that we tried, from pa amb tomaquet, to spring asparagus, to oxtail stew. I did not catch the name of our server, but she spoke excellent English and really explained everything. Even though this restaurant is located in a quiet area of the Poble Sec neighborhood, I recommend that you make the effort to go.

Reviews like this makes me regret giving 5 stars in the past because I can’t differentiate the level of this review.
This is a great place for food, atmosphere and service. I have two off the menu dishes and the Ox tail. All were amazing.
I am staying in Barcelona a few more days so will be back a few times.

I've been living in Barcelona for 6 years and can safely say this is one of the best tapas restaurants I've been to. The dishes are creative, delicious and beautifully presented. Amazing wine selection and super friendly service. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
We stayed in Barcelona for 10 days on vacation. Following the suggestions we received to not eat at restaurants that have photos of the food outside for the entire trip didn't prove to be very difficult. With that being said, most of the food we had was at least very good. Given that the quality of food was so high, I believe it to be even more significant that this was our favorite restaurant of the trip!
They are a small local restaurant, with chalkboard menus, and a little ways off the beaten path (not too far to discourage visiting!)
The tapas and beer we had here was out of this world.
Here are my recommendations, but take them with a grain of salt (literally, when it comes to pan con tomate), because they are seasonal, and the menu changes:
1) Get the pan con tomate. They show you how to make it, so it is ever so fresh!
2) Taste some of the local wines and craft beers
3) Listen to the waitresses recommendations... no matter the current menu
4) Try the pulpo! (Octopus)
5) Calamari
6) The seasonal (Fall) mushrooms were great
7) Patatas bravas were good, but not my favorite of the trip
8) Back to beer... Try the Black Coupage if you like dark beers, and they still have it. Delicious beer!
Enjoy Barcelona, and eat some REAL local food, or at least the best food we tried there after eating about 30 meals at different restaurants....

Yelp
A small little spot up the road from some of the main walking streets, La Platilleria is an excellent tapas bar with some wickedly good food. I stumbled upon this place on my recent trip to Barcelona and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and care each dish was given. The low amount of reviews is a function of location more than quality.
Seating was readily available and we decided to sit at the bar. Service was extremely friendly and I got to strike up a conversation with our waiter. He was very helpful and eager to describe each of the dishes.
I would highly recommend this place, if you're ever in the area. You get some good value and excellent food. It's fancy, but not pretentious.

Yelp
We are in Barcelona for our honey moon and our hotel recommended we try this place for dinner. We went on a Thursday around 7:45 and it was so empty obviously because no one eats that early here! But the main server (maybe manager?) was nice and we grabbed a table.
The tapas were so good. We had the bravas (the red sauce so tangy and delicious! And the potatoes were crispy and not greasy), the octopus (pulpo) the ribs (lagrima) which came with an amazing vanilla and maybe apple (?) cream sauce, pan con tomate (they give it to you deconstructed and you make it yourself - really fun) and we had asparagus, some kind of beef stuffed noodle and for dessert the creamy flan with berries and a chocolate cake.
The food was so delicious. And reasonably priced for the portion sizes!
We also had the Tinto de Verano which was a lighter version of a sangria but so much less
Boozy and way more refreshing.
We went back for
Dinner the next night too!
This time I had the cod fish salad so fresh and light and a great way to start the meal. My husband had bravas and the Lagrimas (ribs) again. I switched it up and had this amazing egg dish the same server recommended which had prosciutto and some asparagus and the egg was PERFECTLY POACHED to die for. It turned into this delicious silky soup when I cut into it. It needed a bit of
Crunch so I used some leftover pan to scoop it up
For dessert we did the tiramisu this time. We avoided it before because we had just come from 12 days in Italy and were kind of sick of tiramisu. But this was like noting we had in Italy! It was served in a mini flower pot and had some bits of
Raspberries on top and some crunchy chocolate bits that made it so much fun to eat and I didn't even mention it had pop rocks! I've never laughed at a dessert before but it was so fun.
We went back for dinner the next night too!

Yelp
Quiet tapas place away from the busy touristic part of El Raval, offers alternative tapas; from
atun carpaccio to make it yourself pan con tomate. Worth taking the time to explore this multicultural part of the city. Friendly service

Yelp
Super delicious Tapas (we decided to have the place decide a mix of tapas for us - best choice ever) with very lovely staff. The cozy place is located in between typical Barcelona housing and is visited by locals as well as "lost" tourists.

Yelp
This is my first time in Barcelona and I was thrilled to find such hospitality accompanied by delicious small plates (not the "pinchtos" served on La Rambla - thank god)!
The burratina (pesto crusted), the sausage and the pan de tomate are simple and perfect. I've been here for five days since and have yet to try a burrata that compares. The asparagus con jamón de Serrano was also delicious.
We tried the octopus - it was perfectly cooked but octopus is not a personal favorite of mine.
Don't be deterred because this place only has a handful of reviews - would HIGHLY recommend!

Yelp
Thankfully we stumbled upon this charming tapas restaurant while walking around Barcelona. The food is fresh, quick and, more importantly, absolutely delicious! Prices are incredibly reasonable. We loved it so much we went twice!

Yelp
A hidden gem serving delicious, authentic tapas! A local friend brought me here for dinner during my stay in the city. Must try their bravas!! We also had the octopus, cow cheeks, burrata, and 3 desserts which were all amazing! Great alternative to the tourist-filled pinchos shops nearby.

Yelp
We enjoyed this awesome tapas spot so much that we returned twice within a few days. Quality food prepared to perfection. Everything we tried was delicious! The tuna with grilled lettuce dish was my favorite and the chocolate dessert is a must. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, which was a welcome experience.

Yelp
Fantastic meal. The best after being in BCN for4 days. Small place but well worth the wait if it is busy. Off the main strips it is an oasis of culinary treats!
