La Playita Restaurante Bar Cancún

We accidentally discovered this place. The food is absolutely incredible. I spent the whole week enjoying lobster tacos, ceviche, and tuna, while my husband opted for burgers, and the kids had meat dishes and soups. The staff’s attitude towards children is fantastic. My daughter was thrilled with the waiters and their friendly and cheerful interaction with her. Thank you so much! I highly recommend this place.

Really great local restaurant to get your lobster taco fix on! Their coconut shrimp was OK. It wasn't your traditional coconut shrimp that is fileted and flat then breaded with coconut shreds. The lobster tacos was really good! The presentation was really pretty. The ribeye tacos were good but had some fatty pieces in it (which I discarded). Bathroom is well kept and nice. Would definitely come back again!

Would recommend this place. The food was good, especially the fried shrimp. The servers are extremely attentive and always on task. The drinks were good too. Overall, I would definitely go again!

As a part of my Sperm Donation World Tour of Mexico, I came here infact twice, first night I had the seafood tacos and the Marlin Toash was unbelievable, next night had the fish 🐟 ceviche it was ok and the seafood grill which consisted of Tuna steaks, octopus and prawns. Was pretty good! Cocktails were good quality and seemed strong.

Service was fine, the atmosphere was generally non-existent but had sort of an 80s vibe going, and the food was OK at best. The other members of our group indicated that the seafood was good, but everything we had was edible, while not being nearly as good as any of the other food we have had in Cancun. I would not recommend this place unless it's your only non-sketchy looking option.

The staff were all super friendly, and the food is amazing! They provided us with an appetizer before our meals which was really good, and we ordered the shrimp and octopus in a pineapple. prices were slightly high however the food was all delicious and worth it.

We are sitting outside on a beautiful sunny Sunday evening. There's an ancient knarly old tree that goes up through the balcony. There are beautiful ferns and foliage everywhere. The place is busy without being packed so there was room to sit down. We were greeted immediately but waited longer than usual to get our drink order and food order in. They bring you chips and things to put on them, my friend says the green salsa is spicy. I took her word for it and did not try it. Our food took a long time to come out. I got bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with cheese which was delicious. My friend got the whole fish fried and said it was fried a little too hard. My Margaritas are delicious!

Nice local spot. I ordered ceviche and Cameron Thai. Both were tasty, but not as flavorful as expected. Service was good. Allowed me time and space to take my time.

This is actually better than four stars and just below five. The shrimp nachos were excellent. Grilled perfectly with wonderful flavor and salsa selections. Everything here was wonderful.

Excellent service, food was delicious and very well priced. Location is also good, a lot to watch and people walking by. We went back twice so that says a lot. The first time I got rib eye and asked medium rare, I think he thought I said rare, it was a little blue, I still ate it and it was still good. I didn't base any negative part on that, it's my fault for not being able to speak his native tongue. The second time I got rib eye and asked for medium and it was all good too.

We flew back from Cuba and I was DYING for fish. And yes, there is fish in Cuba but it's more expensive due to tourist demand. We decided to check out this place and it was pretty good. Huge menu and excellent service. I had the stuffed filet which was good. It was a little on the fishy side but overall decent. My bf had a filet with garlic which was also good. We were spoiled by fresh caught fish during our trip so now our standards are way too high! Prices were decent, 150ish a plate so about $8 USD. We also had shots and they were about 70 pesos each. There were TONS of mosquitos so we had to move inside after a while. They have bug spray if you ask for it :). Also their chipotle sauce is amazing!!

Great service, great food. Perfect outdoor seating and ambiance. I enjoy the tacos, tostada, and definitely the shrimp guacamole.

This place is to die for... looking for Great seafood ... look no further... best tasty well prices seafood with great music...and ambiance. Fresh tasty seafood were the locals go. Ice cold beer by the keg. Btw they stay open till late all week long. (2AM). Hey Yelp!!!!! They don't close at 2 pm!

The waiter was very good to us and helped us with the menu since we couldn't understand.I was surprised they played hip hop music. It was a nice indoor/outdoor seating. I had grilled octopus which was delicious. The stuffed pineapple with shrimp had a curry-cheese sauce which was different for me but I enjoyed it. It I ever visit Cancun again I will definitely go back

OK food. Nothing to brag about. Hubs and I stopped in before catching the ferry. It was early lunch time on a Sunday so maybe that had something to do with the fact it was empty and food was subpar. Food was a bit bland. Octopus I ordered was a bit tough and flavorless. Staff are super attentive and friendly. This place has biodegradable straws that at first look and feel like someone drank very sugary ice tea and it dried up inside the straw. LOL but yeah. Good for something quick.

The food was amazing! I highly recommend, music, service, cleanliness all top notch! I ordered the pina rellenda and it tasted great! Seafood & pineapple all coated in cheese and stuffed in a pineapple, what a meal! My friend got the seafood platter and loved it! Great restaurant!

Food 4 stars if not 5 - it's really good. I write 2 stars because the server who ran my credit card added extra for himself and hoped I wouldn't notice. When I caught him, he gave me a beer to make amends. It's not about the money for me, it does bother me though when people try to steal.

This place has been one of my favorite ones for 4 years. The service is fast, the food is delicious, seafood is fresh and well-prepared. The location is really convenient. Can't wait to come back and visit it again!

Ok downright one of best places to dine while near Zona Hotelera. Chill spot, food, drinks, and my service were very good. I had fried fish wet and dry both were super fresh and authentic taste. I had Traditional margarita and it was also great, nice margarita taste without that sweet stuff chaser . Service was great! Server Edwardo Rios bomb!

We were staying around the corner and ended up finding this place! Open late & fresh seafood was ideal. Service is a little slower pace than I'm use to but I still enjoyed everything. The portion sizes are fair & not over bearing especially for the price. Probably THE best drinks I have had since I have been visiting Mexico. 100% will be back next time I travel.

My family and I came to this restaurant with honestly a low expectation for service and food, HOWEVER, this restaurant has indeed super exceeded our expectations by a large margin. The service and food were outstanding! Whoever comes from the US or Europe, I recommend you come here, the price is just right and you get more then your money's worth! This restaurant gots my 5

Service was great! Our waiter was wonderful even with our language barrier. We ordered the shrimp burger and the BBQ burger, both amazing. They had phenomenal guacamole with shrimp! Their mango sauce is also great. We got a 3L beer tower which came out to about 8 and a half beers for 10$ American- great price! We sat on the porch, it was fun but also relaxing. Definitely will be back before we leave!

Good drinks and appetizers. Rest of food was merely OK. Pricey. A little pricey. Also, they add a tip 15% automatically. Good drinks and chips. Had a couple of burritos and they were merely OK. Ambience was nice. A friend who was vegetarian disliked it extremely since the burrito was cooked in the same pan/oil as the meat and tasted a lot like that, which was extremely off-putting. Good service.

Service: Perfect. I was never left waiting for food or wondering when the waiter was going to come around for a refill or another order. They worked as a team to make sure all the customers were set. Food: BOMB. Full of flavor and variety. I'm Hispanic and have had most things on these menus yet I was impressed. The octopus and shrimp were cooked and seasoned perfectly... some places are chewier than a rubber boot. The guac was perfect too. Drinks: Sigh. To the managers... size matters. And so does the amount of alcohol. Load it up! Guess no place is perfect.

An awesome place if you like seafood. The seafood soup was great and the whole fish was grilled to perfection. Also, wonderful staff & service. Do look for Dominique behind the drinks bar.

If you don't mind getting off the hotel area, this is the place to go. Not your typical seafood restaurant and service is great. My wife and I both had seafood like no other place with a fusion twist. This is one of my top restaurants ever! Try the tamarindo shrimp and the grilled octopus.

Authentic place right in front of Plaza de Toros in Downtown. We've red a lot of different opinions about this place and decided to visit it. And we were right. Welcomed staff and good local food - you will love it. Tuna tartar and coconut shrimps are my favorite! A little bit noisy but we were excited!

Came to check out La Playita, and was fairly disappointed . I read the reviews on this place and it seemed worth checking out. Food was not that good. Mediocre, nothing out of the ordinary to rave about. The Tacos Del Mar down the street from us and just around the block was way better. We were sad we didn't enjoy our food as much. Scenery was nice , outside seating was nice, staff was nice. The food was just not it sis.

Very good food and service. Ambiance was pleasant. Had dinner there with my wife. She had grilled seafood platter. I had shrimp ceviche and some of my wife's meal. While the octopus was slightly overcooked, it was still worth five stars. Would definitely go again.

I loooooooove it!! Mojitos faded!! #cancun2017 we were going to go to toro rojo but instead went next door to this place. Which turned out to be really good the service and food was great! I am one who loves mojitos so this was perfect! Roof top plays good music as well. Thanks Cruz!!!

Nice, casual seafood place. Great service, outdoor seating, valet parking, waiters that speak English, and away from the hotel strip. If you have a car, definitely check this place out.

While the food was ok, the drinks were very weak. And worst of all, the server ripped us off. He over charged us and was very reluctant to fix it. We ended up leaving and chalking up the loss to a lesson learned. I would not go back ever again.

Had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We had a server named Bianca who also claimed to be the manager and owner. There was a language barrier and we asked her what a dish contained. She named just shrimp and octopus. When the entree arrived it had no shrimp but a lot of other stuff like mussels and clams, which I don't eat. I told her to take it back and ordered something else. The final bill still had the food I sent back and she wouldn't take it off the bill and instead started arguing with us. Her attitude was just mean, unfriendly and even racist as she made comments about our ethnicity when one of us said we are vegetarian. I'm never going back here. The food wasn't even that good, way better options for seafood in Cancun. They even overcharged for my kids meals which is just not right.

Terrible, terrible place. The service was super bad. This woman called "Bianca" served us. She was super rude. The food was sub par. We went there because we read the good reviews so we were terribly disappointed. I am not one to leave bad reviews for no reason, but this place was really bad. "Bianca", who also claimed to be the owner of the restaurant when we asked to speak to a manager, charged us for a dish that we had sent back. If the owner is reading this please train your staff to be better behaved with customers. Also your employees are claiming to own your restaurant! Maybe it's a US thing that we expect better service? I am not quite sure why this restaurant has good reviews with bad seafood (only the chicken was passable) and the extremely poor service. I would never go back there and will definitely recommend that this place be skipped. Tons of better places to eat at in Cancun! I would give this negative stars but yelp doesn't allow me to!
