LA PONDEROSA Beach & Jungle Resort PAVONES

Our stay at the Ponderosa Hotel in Pavones was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this is a special place.||The room was exceptionally clean and incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect retreat after our days of exploring. Each morning, we were treated to a delicious made-to-order breakfast, and the afternoon smoothies were the perfect refreshment after soaking up the sun.||The hosts, Angela and Marshal, were wonderful. They made us feel so welcome and took the time to share the fascinating history of their beautiful hotel. Their hospitality truly added a personal touch to our experience.||The location is ideal, with a stunning rocky beach cove just a short walk across the road. We loved taking evening strolls to catch the spectacular sunsets—they were unforgettable. We also had the chance to see the famous Pavones wave, which was as impressive as everyone says.||If you’re looking for a serene getaway with top-notch hospitality, delicious food, and breathtaking scenery, the Ponderosa Hotel is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!

Best place to stay in Pavones and I've been there many times. Great beds, air conditioning, pool and English tv. Buetiful private beach rite out front. I've seen sloths, toucans, many monkeys to name a few. This place is a gem.

A group of 6 of us went for a couple of days. Check-in with Angela was great. The setting is fabulous with the ocean across the street. The resort is very shaded as they have left many trees. The Macaws went by every morning and we had Spider monkeys come through one afternoon. The rooms were great. We only had breakfast at the restaurant but it was delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely lovely! Angela was a warm and welcoming host, and provided us with excellent information about the area. The gardens were abundant with colorful flora and were well maintained. The pool was a delight, and I typically don't care much for resort pools. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well thought out. The bathroom was stocked with premium, natural soap, shampoo and conditioner. The location was very convenient, providing enough distance from Pavones to ensure tranquility yet easy access to the town's excellent restaurants, beaches and surf shops. Wonderful place.

The owners and staff at La Ponderosa were a delight. The property and rooms are comfortable and VERY CLEAN. The option to dine at the property was a plus, with good food. The pool was a peaceful place to read a book and cool off. The surf spots require a bike ride or short car ride, which provided more privacy, but a little extra effort to catch waves. The beach directly across the dirt road was a fabulous place to take a walk and watch the sunset/sunrise. I stayed here for two different weeks on my recent trip and would gladly return again.

It’s our third time staying with the crew at la ponderosa. We will be staying a fourth ! Clean rooms, fast WiFi, cool AC. Great food in the cafe made from whole ingredients ! Right in the middle from the river and punta banco. Wonderful property with a lot of wildlife to be seen

La Ponderosa was absolutely perfect on all accounts! We stayed in the big house and it was so beautiful. Gorgeous dark hardwood deck all the way around the upstairs. The AC was a nice reprieve from the afternoon heat. Our days started early with fresh coffee at the ready. We were only 1 and 1/2 miles from the beaches where we surfed on our rented boards from the resort. Meals were an option. We had an absolutely delicious fresh tuna meal cooked by their in house chef. We spent some time in the beautifully designed pool. Only great things to say about the people and the place!

Very nice boutique hotel with a jungle attitude. Roms are nice and clean, there is a small pool and a convenient community area. The food is god and healthy. The Pavones surf spot is – just – in walking distance but it is better to get a car. Good for couples, small groups and also solo travelers. I went by myself and met fellow surfers to hang out with. I will definitely be back.
