I recently stayed at La Quinta (Downtown San Antonio), and while the accommodations were average, the outstanding service from the staff, the convenient location and included breakfast, made our stay memorable.
Hotel's location: There is some street construction going on in the proximity, but it's easily accessed, on a main throughway and conveniently across the street to a supermarket (with a gas station). Also, it is within walking distance to a bus stop for routes to local destinations.
Service/Hotel Staff: From the moment we arrived, Joseph Garcia (the hotel's Front Office Supervisor), went above and beyond to ensure that my elderly aunt and I felt welcome. Every interaction was friendly, professional, and attentive to our needs.
I used a popular travel app to reserve an 'accessible' (walk-in shower), single room, with two queen beds. Although my accommodations were confirmed by the app, when we got there, the room type I requested was not available, so Joseph 'upgraded' us to an 'accessible' King Suite.
Room: The room itself was just 'okay'. Although clean and spacious there are some things that need prompt attention. For example, the sofa and chairs need cleaning and visible stains removed. In the bathroom, there were no hand soaps in the sink area and the toilet paper was low, with no extra roll available for replacement.
Despite the accommodations being less impressive, the exceptional service and the hotel's convenient location, made up for it. If you value outstanding hospitality and a convenient location over luxurious rooms, this hotel might be a great choice for your stay. Would I return? Possibly...
With a few, EASY fixes to the facilities, this hotel could become a top-notch place to stay!
