We've travelled a lot and stayed in many hotels and B&Bs throughout Italy, but when we arrived at B&B La Rua in the beautiful village of Pescocostanzo we knew immediately that this place was different. In this lovely family-run accommodation we were, ourselves, welcomed like family. Luigi took my husband off to find a secure place to park our car, while his brother Giuseppe and I set about mapping out a plan of what we might see and do over the next couple of days in this spectacular part of Abruzzo. Ten minutes in and we felt completely at home. Our room, with views down over the village, was sparkling clean, very quiet and extremely comfortable. La Rua itself is perfectly located, literally around the corner from the main square and only steps away from the best restaurant in town. A delicious breakfast including homemade jams, biscuits and cakes is a wonderful way to begin a day of exploring. Pescocostanzo is one of the prettiest villages we've visited and, like our hosts, the people there are warm and welcoming. The brothers' have lived in the village all their lives so you know their advice is based on experience. We spent two days discovering Pescostanzo itself as well as the lovely towns and lakes nearby but it wasn't nearly enough time. We can't wait to return to Abruzzo, Pescocostanzo and La Rua.
