La Sagesse Boutique Hotel, Restaurant and Beach Bar

First of all, let's get something out there: please do not go to La Sagesse expecting it to be some sterile Hilton or La Quinta plopped on a beach. It also is not a Starbucks or McDonalds. This place, perhaps uniquely, is a stalwart of what the REAL Caribbean beachfront hotels were...and still should be..but mostly are not. It is a diamond among rhinestones. We stayed in Ted's Room. The a/c was so efficient we had to turn it down. It was superb. The bed was 100%. The shower worked fine after we figured out to turn the hot water up all the way FIRST then add cold water. The staff are the best I have encountered in all my years of international travel, and I treat them as fellow travelers, not servants. The beach never had more than a dozen people on it in a week of good weather. Mike has something really special here, and we will be coming back as long as we can. As for the restaurant, Mike invited us to see the fish just brought from the market which I later that day had as a meal. Marlin is tasty! Go here and find the true definition of "laid back" without slackness.

This lovely quiet hotel is well positioned on La Sagesse Beach. Our room was delightful with views over the hotel gardens and out to sea. The staff were attentive and professional. There is a restaurant and bar attached to the hotel which is a bonus because the food is excellent. I loved the art which was dotted all around the hotel. I would stay here again - a great base to explore the quieter areas of the island.

A gem of a place! I can't say enough great things about La Sagesse. If you are looking for a relaxed, laid back retreat on a beautiful beach, with great swimming, great food and wonderful people, and a place to unplug and relax, this is the place you want to be. While the other side of the island is fairly busy and touristy, La Sagesse is a place apart and a rare find. The owners Mike and Lynn, and Sammy and Caroline were incredibly warm and welcoming as were the entire staff. The dining room and rooms are all right on the beach and lovely and food is great. There are options for different walks, as well as great swimming. We look forward to returning, joining many regulars who have been devoted guests for decades.

Rooms were nice and very clean. Resort was beatiful, grounds well maintained. Beach groomed every morning. The staff were amazing. Very accommodating. Sammie will help you find everything and John will take you there safely with a smile and a story. You can even stop for local lunch is you are feeling adventuresome. Andrea, Wendy, Ariel, Rachel, and everyone in the kitchen and bar will make your day better. Food was excellent FRESH FISH EVERY DAY. Being from the Midwest this is a ++. We were staying at an Airbnb 5 minutes from here so thought we’d try it for an evening meal. So glad we did. What amazingly tasty food and the welcome was so warm. The shrimp and goat curry were first class and desserts were absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend anyone to come and try this place out. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the island

We visited the restaurant only, the food was good but feied chicken a bit overfried and dry. Fish was really nice. Locatin and the feeling are really nice, the beach is shallow and has nice waves for kids (or adults) to play in. The grounds were nicely cleaned, overall good experience.

This place is an absolute treasure! Lynn and Mike are the most gracious hosts. John and Sammy go above and beyond to ensure guests are comfortable and well fed. The restaurant is amazing. The whole staff works hard to make sure you want for nothing. I cannot recommend La Sagesse highly enough.

I have only ever been to the restaurant but the fact that i keep coming back says it all. The food is always well prepared and tasty. The staff are always pleasant, smiling, engaging. The location on the beach is idylic, & relaxing. The construction taking place in the distance is indeed and interuption of a lovely landscape but this will eventually come to and end. Keep up the good work
