La Salle Dumpling Room

Friedman's West and La Salle Dumpling have merged into one restaurant. The good news is that two people craving different cuisines can now dine together at the same place. However, the downside is that those unaware of La Salle Dumpling's presence inside Friedman's may find it nearly impossible to locate the restaurant. This unique establishment offers two completely distinct cuisines, prepared to perfection. In particular, the xiao long bao and Chinese-style noodles are exceptional. The brunch menu exceeds expectations, and both the coffee and iced tea are outstanding.

This may be the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Bland - so bland. Like, tasteless. Like I thought I was getting Covid tasteless. Plus the chicken was a rubbery texture. The fact there are also pastrami sandwiches and waffles on the menu should have been a tip off but we figured we would give it a try. The service was very nice and the Friedman's portion of the menu looked fine. Just do NOT get the "Chinese" food.

Came here on Christmas, December 25th, 2017. The pork vermicelli contained little to no pork. The soup dumplings were delicious. The lychee bubble tea was good. I have to mention the waitresses and the host who was very welcoming and helpful. They had a holiday menu and pointed out the new dishes they had for holidays.

So happy this place is back! For context, before Friedman’s came in, this was La Salle Dumpling Room. Friedman’s was here for several years before asking La Salle to join them at the location. Now, you can have amazing dumplings plus anything you want at Friedman’s. Win, win! Soup dumplings are a must!

As other reviews have noted, this place is inside Friedman's. Stopped by here for lunch today and really enjoyed the pork soup dumplings (fresh, tender, and hot, with a tasty filling). The General Tso chicken was also great, using 2 kinds of peppers (but not over-spiced). Friendly staff and attentive service!

You know this place is going to be good. Great chinese restaurant with great details. Beautiful dinner plates. Artful presentation. I ordered beef scallion pancake wrap. Nice and toasty warm. Crisp cucumber but sorry i couldn't really taste the roasted beef. The pork with crabmeat dumplings were delicious but again the same. I couldn't really taste the pork. I do love the sour broth though.

BEST vegetarian dan dan noodles I’ve ever had anywhere, bar none. They have a few other vegetarian offerings that are hard to find elsewhere, such as soup dumplings. Love love love this place!

The Xiao long bao were okay but especially in New York it’s possible to find better ones, so we would probably not return. The pak choi that we had on the side was good. The service was friendly and fast.
