La Saudade

My first visit to France driving from Paris down to the south of France and stopped in Saint Peray en route. Claire and Jean Batiste are wonderful hosts and their children are beautiful. Our room was HUGE with a beautiful tub and view of the front garden in a quiet sanctuary setting. Breakfast was included in price and we were able to park our car inside the gate of the property. Daily breakfast included fresh juices and coffee or assorted selection of tea, fresh bread, croissants, charcuterie, cheeses, fruit or yogurt. New to me was the sweet chestnut spread of that area. On our last day I still had not made it to a market to get some and Claire graciously offered to go get some for me. Beautiful family with a beautiful home. Easy travel to Orange and Châteauneuf-du-Pape area within 90 minutes.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. It is located in town close to restaurants but it is quiet behind the secure gate. Parking is provided. The breakfast was great with many choices. Claire was so kind. She allowed to leave our car parked after we checked out so we could walk to a winery appointment and lunch. Very nice!

This is a fabulous inn for a romantic getaway or to go with another couple. The house is absolutely gorgeous, the rooms are very large and comfortable, and the common rooms are delightful. We loved staying here, and make sure to take advantage of that great jet tub in your room. The village itself is beautiful with gorgeous nature around, what a find this place! I recommend the larger premium rooms rather than the standard; however you can't go wrong with either.

On our way to Spain we spent one evening and night at La Sausade. Excellent experience compared with other ones like Campanile or Ibis. The hosts welcome you warmly and the rooms are large and well equipped on a sanitary standpoint, maybe a little weak on a decoration standpoint. The breakfast provided all we needed before to go for the second day of the journey.However you can not have supper in the house and you need to walk 10 min to find several good restaurants.||Other positive point: your car is save in the garden, beyond the fences.||Last but not least, you need to pay cash.||

A beautiful house in a pretty walled garden, la saudade is a perfect place for an overnight stay, a few minutes away from the A7, l'autoroute du soleil. Madame is a charming host, the rooms are stylish and the breakfast is excellent. Saint-Peray does not look to have much to offer but Mon Petrus produced a fantastic steak. Would certainly stay there again.

A friend and I spent 2 nights in La Saudade. We had a pleasant stay. My room was big with a very comfortable bed. Bath and sink open to the bedroom. As it was very hot (32-35 degrees C), air-conditioning was a life saver. The hosts were very nice. Breakfast correct..... Overall a pleasant stay. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at this charming maison d'hotes. The hosts, Sophie and Ludovic, were welcoming and helpful, and added a nice personal touch to our visit. The breakfast was served in a beautiful arrangement with high quality and tasty foods. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer!

‘La Saudade’ is a Portuguese word that means having good memories about a person or place that you love. It’s the perfect name for the place. As we left after the holiday the feeling that describes the word ‘la saudade’ struck us right away. ||We stayed at ‘la Saudade’ during a week (Sunday till Sunday) in the room ‘l’olivier’ which was a very comfortable room with everything we could ask for.||Every aspect of our stay was taken care for by Sophie and Ludovic with great care and attention for detail. The magnificent garden, breakfast, location, ... made us feel relaxed right away.
