La Scala - New ownership

I visited La Scala based on glowing recommendations from my brother and sister-in-law, as well as my parents. It seems the restaurant may have changed ownership recently, as it looked slightly different to the photos they showed me – but it’s still a beautiful spot with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. They even have a very sweet dog, who we both instantly fell in love with! The waiters were friendly and welcoming, though service was a little relaxed toward the end – we weren’t given a dessert menu (not sure if they serve desserts?) and had to ask for the bill and card machine after a short wait. Not a big issue, especially if you’re happy to go with the slower pace. For starters, we shared the scallops which were absolutely delicious. For the main, we both ordered the octopus – my friend really enjoyed it, but I personally found it wasn’t quite to my taste, as it was more of a stew with potatoes. I tend to prefer grilled or barbecued octopus, so that’s on me for not asking more about the dish. There was no bartender on the evening we visited, so the drinks menu was quite limited, but they still made us a lovely mojito each, which we really enjoyed. La Scala is tucked away in a more peaceful, charming part of Ibiza Old Town, which I’d highly recommend exploring. If you do visit, I’d suggest asking the staff to explain the dishes in detail – that’s where I went a bit wrong!

The ambiance was lovely, but we had to wait over an hour even just for the starters. And when the food finally arrived, the portion sizes definitely didn’t justify the high prices. You can’t just roast an eggplant and charge over 23 euros for it :) To top it off, they accidentally spilled ”red wine “on my white handbag while serving. If you’re only looking for a nice table to sit at, this place might work but don’t expect fast service or good value for money.

New owners are living up to the expectations set by Joachim & Beda over the last four decades. The food was top class (prawn carpaccio followed by a wonderful Rib Eye steak). The front of house team were friendly and helpful and contributed to an atmospheric and relaxing evening in an idillyc corner of Ibiza Old Town (Dalt Vila)

Absolutely amazing restaurant 10/10! Our waiter was excellent he got us complimentary champagne and came over and explained the menu and gave recommendations. The food was delicious!! The nicest steak and lamb I have ever had. We got the crawfish curry starter too which was unbelievable. 100% will return on my next trip to Ibiza town. We relaxed vibe just what we needed.

La Scala is hands down one of the best local spots I’ve visited. The outdoor seating area is absolutely perfect—spacious, comfortable, and tucked away just enough to give it an authentic, intimate vibe. It feels like you’ve discovered a little secret spot that only locals know about. The cocktails are top-notch, crafted with care and creativity. On top of that, the staff and servers were incredible—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the experience even better. As for the food, it didn’t disappoint. Everything we tried was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. If you’re in the area, La Scala is a must-do. Whether you’re stopping in for drinks or a full meal, you’ll leave already planning your next visit.

Missing the former cosy, intimate atmosphere of the previous La Scala location. Where are the vine grapes which created a private space between tables? Now it looks like a railway station waiting room. Food quality is maintained - for a high price of course.

Gorgeous restaurant with an amazing green setting and equally great food! Nothing of what we tried disappointed — all fresh and tasty, especially the Ceviche with an asian twist! 4/5 because I have forgotten my sunglasses there and tried for 3 days to call the restaurant and no one answered the phone…

Hard to make a reservation but the food is great. We ordered the Jon dori, goat cheese and the pasta dish. Joachin is great and super attentive. Highly recommend if you are ever in old town.

The service was exceptional with just the right balance between being friendly and efficient. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. The complementary olives had an absolutely stunning flavour. They were perfectly marinated and undoubtedly the best I've ever tasted. Our group had four different starters and mains and each one of them was delicious. Very unusual for all of our party to be so impressed that they were lost for words..or just too busy enjoying the food. This would be the perfect restaurant for a romantic meal or special celebration.
