I visited La Scala based on glowing recommendations from my brother and sister-in-law, as well as my parents. It seems the restaurant may have changed ownership recently, as it looked slightly different to the photos they showed me – but it’s still a beautiful spot with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. They even have a very sweet dog, who we both instantly fell in love with!
The waiters were friendly and welcoming, though service was a little relaxed toward the end – we weren’t given a dessert menu (not sure if they serve desserts?) and had to ask for the bill and card machine after a short wait. Not a big issue, especially if you’re happy to go with the slower pace.
For starters, we shared the scallops which were absolutely delicious. For the main, we both ordered the octopus – my friend really enjoyed it, but I personally found it wasn’t quite to my taste, as it was more of a stew with potatoes. I tend to prefer grilled or barbecued octopus, so that’s on me for not asking more about the dish.
There was no bartender on the evening we visited, so the drinks menu was quite limited, but they still made us a lovely mojito each, which we really enjoyed.
La Scala is tucked away in a more peaceful, charming part of Ibiza Old Town, which I’d highly recommend exploring. If you do visit, I’d suggest asking the staff to explain the dishes in detail – that’s where I went a bit wrong!
