"Pablo Neruda’s House, Valparaiso, Chile The poet Pablo Neruda redefined the city with his Ode to Valparaíso , calling it “the patched bow of a small courageous ship.” Today, visitors can tour his home, known as La Sebastiana. The building is now a museum with one of the city’s finest gift shops.—Steven Bodzin Ferrari 692, 56/(0) 32-225-6606. This appeared in the November/December 2011 issue. By Afar Magazine"

The famous Chilenian poet's house. The decoration is quite playful and luxurious. From all the rooms, the view was great. You need to put your backpack in the locker, and it has to be 100-peso coin, that returns when collect your item back. 9500 pesos and the audio guide is included. I would say, 15min is just good enough? Not much to see. The view outside the house(free) is the best photo you would get!

Amazing five level home overlooking the port city of Valparaiso. It houses an eclectic collection of personal items and furniture from the mind of a Nobel prize winning author. The audio guide well constructed and provides great insight into the man and his world. The views from his office and bedroom are astonishing. It is expensive at $9.000 per ticket, but that helps with maintenance costs and crowd control. We thought it was worth it. Oh, the young men at the entrance to the home were very helpful. They spoke multiple languages.

Must-see in Valparaíso! Gorgeous house previously owned by Neruda. Entry is a bit expensive (10.000), but at least you get an audio tour, which is really informative and immersive.

I recently visited the Pablo Neruda Museum and had a good time. The museum has a lot of interesting information about Neruda's life and work. The exhibits are well-organized, with personal items, photos, and manuscripts that tell his story. One of the best parts was the amazing view from the museum. The scenic location offers beautiful sights that add to the overall experience. It's a peaceful place to enjoy and reflect on Neruda's poetry. However, the ticket price felt a bit too high for what was offered. While the museum is worth visiting, the cost might be too much for some people. Despite this, I recommend it to anyone interested in literature or looking for a lovely spot to visit. Overall, it was an enjoyable and memorable visit.

Quaint and eclectic little place, with a marvelous view!! Chilean Poet Pablo Neruda’s house is impressive. Five floors that get smaller as you go up! The collection of artifacts inside the house is cool! But, No inside pics allowed! The view is spectacular. You can see almost all of Valparaiso from up here. You can also see the pier where I moored the ship I Captained, the USS BOONE, in 2011!

what a personality and what a house to represent this personality! •|• definitely worth your time and money •|• the personnel is super friendly and take their time to explain how to tour the house plus some extra chat •|• the house itself is a one of one masterpiece of carefully collected objects that are even more carefully brought together •|• the audio guide is perfect as it tells you just enough to understand the persona Pablo Neruda and his thoughts on the design on the house but does not digress into less relevant areas •|• well done! 🏡📖✍🏻📝

Was a bit skeptical of the price initially for just a house tour but the audio aspect really brought Pablo Neruda to life. He sounded like a great friend to have. The cats and views were also fantastic!

Yelp
The second of Pablo Neruda's houses, La Sebastiana resides in Valparaíso. This house, in comparison to La Chascona in Santiago, seems livelier. There's an eclectic collection of trinkets at this location just like at his prior house, but this house seems more spacious. There's a garden outside and it even overlooks into the city. The views are beautiful. That said, once again - you are given an audio tour. Languages available are English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The entire tour lasts around an hour. It seems this house, along with La Chascona, weren't his favorites though. That honor belongs to the house in Isla Negra, the one I didn't get to visit. You're allowed to take photos but only of the exterior. There's also a gift shop and plenty of bathrooms. Definitely worthy of checking out.

Yelp
What a sight both inside and out! THE AMBIANCE: La Sebastiana is located in a courtyard with a balcony that overlooks the harbor, gift shop, cultural center, and small library. When you go inside, the first floor has a room with a television streaming videos of the famous poet Pablo Neruda and the life he lived. This is his five (5) story house and the views of the harbor from the different floors and the items inside (art, furniture, etc.) are AMAZING! Pablo Neruda used to watch the fireworks from his house. You walk up each story and admire all the interesting things it has to offer. On the floor that has his dining and living room area, there is a really neat bar. Honestly, the whole house has a bunch of treasures and is a must see. You are not allowed to take photographs other than outside the windows but people sneak a picture here and there. A guard walks around. THE TIPS: Opening hours are Tues-Sunday 10:30am-6:50pm in Jan & Feb and Tues-Sunday 10:10am-6pm Mar-Dec.

Yelp
Have to have a little culture while on vacation. It was neat to travel to Pablo Neruda's house. Seeing the colorful houses, the windy and hilly roads made the journey interesting. The audio tour was simple at best. The view of the harbor from the back yard was spectacular! Take a selfie with the harbor in the background and you will have your xmas picture!

Yelp
One of the most "poetic" architecture structures I have seen. Indeed Pablo Neruda did not only craft words into poetry but crafted his masterpiece La Sebastiana into a glimpse of how one plays with abstraction and love. La Sebastiana is a simply beautiful. This 5 story house overlooks the beautiful Valparaiso city. It is said that Pablo Neruda use to sit on his patio and watch the fireworks light up the sky Every New year eve. The house is by no means a mansion which is what makes it so charming. Each floor only have enough space for the main room and 1 or two extra side rooms. Each floor overlooks the city and has a different theme. In a world where the cookie cutter house is now the standard and living in Suburbia is more and more idealized it makes you appreciate the individuality that La Sabastiana offers.
